Chapter 4
I just saw the real Number 100 in Zexal TT-TT IT'S SO MAJESTIC!!! <3
~.Coal.~
Riding on my chunk of rock, I fly up to the top of the volcano. The rivers of lava are thicker and faster than usual, a clear sign that this Territory is gonna fall if I don't hurry! The volcano may even erupt at any second. As far as I know, it hasn't done so in millions of years, but the amount of smoke coming from the top is clear proof of its impending eruption.
Finally, after seeing more smaller versions of the Mother try to escape as fast as possible, I get to the nest. Surprisingly, I don't see or sense the Mother around, but the eggs are still here. I quickly take two empty eggs and take off once again on the rock. I'm kind of surprised that the Mother wasn't trying to protect the eggs at all, especially since everything's becoming precarious and sideways. The huge volcano is literally bending to its side at this point! Well, not completely, but it's on its way to do just that.
I make it to the Border, which is already cracking in some places. I look at the egg, wondering if I may need more than the two, but there's no time to get more. Cracking the giant egg over my knee and hoping that this'll work, I spread the flaming insides on the Border. Surprisingly, it starts healing as soon as the egg insides hit it. I don't even have to spread it around the whole Border! When I'm done with the one egg, I take the other and do the same just to be sure. I breathe a sigh of relief and walk through the moment it's done.

In the distance, a spot of green finally nears my sight. It's the only piece of land that isn't cracked; it's perfectly intact. I melt my block of ice and jump off, landing right in front of the small pool. I reach into my bag to get one of my containers out, my hand fumbling around in search of the jars. Just as I get a large container out, my communicator beeps.
"Hello?" I call as I scoop in some water.
"The Volcanic Territory is safe," Coal reports. "I'm in the Luminescent Territory right now. It's kind of weird being back here after so long, but nothing seems out of place. Your statuses?"
"On my way to fix the Ice Border. This place was messed up the moment I came."
"The Floral Territory is fine so far," Crystal says. "I'm going as fast as I can, though. Who knows when it'll fall? Nova?"
There's no answer, only a crackling sound at the other end. If we were all here together, we'd be sharing a worried glance or something.
"Nova?" I call through the communicator. "How's your end?"
Still nothing. In the silence, I fill my container and make my way to the Border on my block of ice.
"Does anyone know where he is?" Crystal asks worriedly.
There are shuffling sounds on Coal's end while he pinpoints Nova's energy waves, and then there's silence. The shuffling goes on for about five minutes, long enough for me to splash the hot water onto the Border to fix it. The ground beneath me shifts, fixing itself.
"The Obscure Territory," Coal finally says. "One of us has to go to the Obscure."
"I'll go," I volunteer. "I'm done here anyways."
"Be safe," Crystal calls before turning off her communicator. Coal does the same with a quick goodbye. He must really want to scope out the Territory as fast as possible to sign off that quickly.
Without looking at the Ice Territory, I step through the Border and cross into the Obscure Territory. However, it's not as black as before. The animals' special glow that allows them to see now shines through the inky blackness, revealing what would be a stark white world if it wasn't for the hanging darkness. Although I can clearly see everything now, Nova would have been even more noticeable if the world was still completely black.
Something akin to an earthquake shakes the ground. I quickly jump up and land on my newly formed ice block, escaping the fall I surely would have taken had I stayed on the ground. It would have hurt too, since I'd be falling face first into what looks and feels like jagged, sharp rock. Looking beyond that is a field area with thick white bushes on white branches, and beyond that is a bog area. They're so close, but still too far to make out anyone, so I bring my chunk down to the field area. The chaos on the ground is wilder than I initially thought! Animals run around, panicked, and I have to keep my ice above their heads to keep from being trampled.
Suddenly, a thought crosses my mind. What if Nova's being crushed underfoot right this minute!? I can't let that happen!
Determination coursing through my being, I kick my ice into high speed through the field.
~.Crystal.~
Worry nags at me. I can't shake the feeling that something has gone horribly wrong, but I can't think of what. What could have happened in the Obscure Territory that caused Nova's communications to go down? As much as I want to worry, I can't dwell on it. I need to focus on this Territory. It's fine so far, but it's only a matter of time until everything falls into chaos.
Luckily, I'm already at the location of the special grass. It's a circular field surrounded by thick trees in all directions. The field is full of grass, which glows so that they're easily discernible from regular grass. To preserve their healing abilities, I have to take care not to step on them. Lucky for me, I can easily bring them to me without stepping on them.
Something growls in the forest. The guardian must be prowling around. It's a black wolf with white glowing eyes that scan everything. It can stand on either its hind legs or all fours, but it cannot climb at all. Its teeth can tear someone in half, but catching the victim is a problem since it's not very fast; however, it makes up for the lack of speed for supernatural strength. Because of that, I have to be careful not to be caught.
The first thing I do is climb a tree nearest to the field of grass. The guardian of the forest prowls along the floor, sniffing the air. I know it's fully aware of where I am, but it doesn't seem to care right now. In fact, it looks more worried than anything.
Well, about as worried as a wolf can be.
It seems the wolf is more worried about the Border breaking than my presence, which makes my job much easier. I turn away from the guardian and focus back to the field of healing grass. Raising my hand, I pick multiple blades of grass by the root, clumps of dirt still clinging to them. I direct them to my hands and gather more and more. The black wolf glances briefly in my direction and gives a small, almost invisible nod, as if acknowledging my cause. This gives me a bit of hope.
By the time I'm done, my arms are full of dirt and grass. I hop down only to meet the soulless eyes of the wolf. It stares silently, standing to its full height on its hind paws. Then, it lowers itself to its hind paws and presents me its back.
"Do you want to give me a ride?" I ask tentatively.
The wolf looks back at me and confirms my question with its eyes. Then, a voice echoes in my mind. "I will protect you from the poisonous creatures. I will see my Territory fixed."
A bit surprised, I nod and mound the wolf, securing myself with vines. They adjust themselves around the wolf's belly so that they're secure but not too tight.
Throwing back its head, the wolf howls before bounding away, presumably to a Border close to us.
