«NARRATION»
There was a prolonged knocking on the door followed by brief whispers and kind requests to unlock it.
"Tae."
"This is the last time I'll be repeating myself, open the door and let me in, Tae." Lisa stood adamant in front of the door with arms crossed, constantly tapping her foot against the wooden flooring in utter impatience.
"Go away, Lili. I'm seriously not in a mood to hear another lecture from you." Taehyung's voice came muffled through the tiny gap of the door that posed as an ungrateful barrier between them.
"I am not here to give you a lecture either; besides I risked sneaking out of my parent's house in the hour of midnight just to come see you, I could be even grounded for a month, you know. Now open up else I know how to break in."
Taehyung turned at sound of the door being kicked once or twice, symbolising a fuming Lisa who stood on the other side. He sighed, before taking long strides to unlatch it and peek through — before letting his girlfriend inside, only for her to meet his face in shock.
His right eye looked visibly swollen, a bruise formed on his cheek and his jaw was deeply met by bloody cuts.
"Let me guess, you attacked them and they caught you again? Tae, we've talked about this over a million times—"
"Its not that easy as you think it is, Lisa. They're demanding, they're greedy...they're ruthless monsters who killed dad."
Lisa sat beside Taehyung on the edge of the bed, her hand grazing the scar on his cheek as he slightly winced in pain. After almost a year of dating Taehyung, Lisa was aware of Taehyung's dark past that still haunts his family to this day. His father was associated with a number of gangs around the town, mostly because of the debts he owed them as a part of his gambling habits. He had drained the resources available to his family and he had soon come to realise that there wasn't much to provide to repay the debts when he had to look after a family of his own. So he started to ask for extensions in payment dates, eventually planning to break away from town. However he wasn't able to fool the gangs for long, who decided to gun him down to take away his life.
Taehyung had managed to clear off the debts but the pursuit of greed caused these gangs to annoy Taehyung more and he often picked fight with them, except now that this was happening very frequent than ever.
"They picked on me first and even sent threat mails at home. I'm sorry for breaking our promise." His eyes were filled with guilt and remorse, fixated at the ground.
"Its not just about the promise, I can't....I can't see you hurt like this. Isn't there a way to end it? File a police complaint?" Lisa placed her finger under his chin, slowly raising it up to observe the cuts of brutality that adorned his flawless face having god-tier visuals.
"You do know how much help the police would do...to them. They're corrupt anyway."
Lisa's eyes welled up in tears as she reached her arms to Taehyung's neck — before engulfing him into a hug.
"I'm sorry...I'm sorry..." Taehyung went on, his eyes fluttered close and his arms encircled around her waist in an attempt to feel her warmth against his skin.
"Your mother....is she aware of any of this?" Lisa asked after pulling away, her fingers intertwined with Taehyung's, drawing faint circles against his knuckles.
"God, no...after dad died, I forced her to look after the farms we owned in the countryside. She would've freaked out if she saw my wounds. She slowly and eventually moved on, yet I haven't. I can't live peacefully knowing those criminals who murdered my father are roaming free, probably creating havoc in others' lives as well."
Lisa hummed, before she got up and left the room, only to return a few minutes later with a first aid kit in her hand.
"First tell me, where else did they hit you?"
"I think one of them punched me in the stomach and apart from that I guess I'm fine."
"Please, you don't even look one percent fine to me." Lisa deadpanned, tugging at his arm.
"Come on, we need to wash your wound first."
After cleaning the wounds to get rid of the dried blood and dirt, Lisa brought a damp cloth near Taehyung's face to gently wipe away the signs of the bruises. She was panicked by looking at the heinous way Taehyung had been beaten up, but somehow had managed to retain her composure until now. She observed Taehyung smiling at her, though his face still spoke an expression os worry and concern that only she could decipher. He stopped smiling when the stretch of his lips hurt from the jab on his jaw.
"Ho...How did you know that s-something is w-wrong?" Taehyung asked through small whimpers as Lisa grazed the antiseptic over his skin.
"I got a gut feeling when you didn't show up at our date, because I can affirm you aren't one of those who cancels dates unless something comes up."
"D-date...shit. W-we had a date." Taehyung creased his forehead as Lisa rubbed his arm, gesturing him to calm down.
"Its fine, we can always go out another time, you should be thinking of rest now."
"Sometimes I think I really don't deserve you...no wait, I think this at all times."
"Tae please....we already talked about this. You don't have to change anything for me. I like us this way." Lisa ruffled his hair before she leaned in to peck his forehead and headed to get an ice pack from the refrigerator.
"Here, for the bruise on your stomach." Lisa swiftly threw it towards him as he instinctively caught it with one of his hands.
Smiling a little, she went in to keep the first aid box back in the cabinet and returned back to see if there were anymore wounds left untreated.
"Where are you leaving?" Taehyung keenly looked over when Lisa got hold of her bag.
"I only came by to check up on you, but I'll be going back home now so that you can peacefully rest now."
Taehyung's face seemingly flushed after hearing the words. He had already ruined their date and there wasn't a guarantee if he could see her at work tomorrow given the intensity of the bruises and now he only troubled her more by hurting himself.
"No..." he said. "Please stay a little longer."
Lisa furrowed her brows at her boyfriend who intently gazed at her. Something in the glint of his eyes pleaded her to not leave.
"Tae, you know I live with my parents right? They'll have me grounded for sneaking out of the house even if I am a twenty four year old woman. And besides, I remember someone asking me to leave a while back." She snickered at her own response and looked over her shoulder to find Taehyung pouting at her.
"Is this because your parents still don't know about us?" Taehyung asked, pulling Lisa beside him.
"Hmm." She nodded. "Partly because you don't want to meet them. I've been hiding for a fact that we've been dating for over a year now. So I have to always look for excuses when it comes to you."
When Taehyung first confessed about the gruesome reality of his dark past, he added that he didn't want Lisa to invite trouble upon herself because of him. He even worried that her parents might not take a stand for their relationship, despite the fact that they are colleagues yet he gets involves in these petty fights. So Lisa never forced him to meet her parents, always waiting for the right time when Taehyung would introduce him by himself.
"I guess that must've been a bunch of troubles."
"For you, I'm willing to face them all." The sad glint in his eyes softened upon listening her reply. She nudged her nose against his to stop him from overthinking again.
"I can't be doing this forever. This needs to stop because its starting to hamper your happiness as well, something which I can't deceive."
"We'll think of something soon, but right now you—"
"I know, I have to take rest."
"Correct." She smiled as Taehyung blinked his doe eyes at her making her confused.
"Are you still leaving? I promise to drop you by your home before anyone takes notice."
"Kim Taehyung." She shrugged her shoulders and sighed. "A few more hours, only because you insist."
I will be so doomed if mom gets to know I'm missing. The thought formed over Lisa's head but slowly faded away into a bubble when she observed the giddiness in Taehyung's eyes that replaced the sadness from moments ago and the adorable face he had, probably one of his ways to cheer the small bits of happiness.
A few minutes later, Lisa was already snuggled into Taehyung's chest as her ran slightly stroked his hair in the slightest attempt to not hurt him.
"Does it pain anymore?"
"No." He answered. "You numb my pain."
"So cheesy Mr Kim." Lisa chuckled and continued to trail her finger down his skin before they paused at his lips.
"What is bothering you?" Taehyung noticed that Lisa's touch was gone as she intently stared at his lips with sorrowful eyes.
"Your lips...they didn't even spare them. Look at the cut there." Lisa tried to tear away from the sudden desire to kiss him because she could potentially hurt him if she did.
"I think I know a remedy for you to heal them." His lips switched into a smirk.
"You do? I'd like to know what it is about." She tried to divert from his heart fluttering gaze but it was nearly impossible because she was caged in his arms and there wasn't an exit to it.
"Well, you can kiss it better." He whispered in a husky tone that caused a gush of serotonin in her system.
She smiled, craning her neck to meet his lips. He let a low groan feeling a burning sensation when their lips first collided, the pain slowly subsided when he felt Lisa's lips move against his. The moment was everything he wanted to treasure, because his mind was clouded with a stature of euphoria and was consumed with only thoughts of his lovely girlfriend.

I wrote it days back in one go and didn't have the time to revisit it again so I don't have an idea if it went great. Also there isn't much of a plot, just me trying to write some fluff ヽ(;▽;)ノ Feel free to leave some comments or any requests you have in mind, your feedback is always appreciated! ◡̈
