Hotland, 20XX

Keep moving. Don't stop. When they attack, dodge it. I memorised those words as Undyne put on her armor. "Okay, so watch out for humans around here. Papyrus is replacing your post." I snapped out of my thoughts, nodding, "Got it." Undyne gave me a thumbs-up and a smile as she left towards Waterfall.

As the seconds flew by, they turned into minutes, soon hours, maybe! Just then a small white figure came from behind the water dispenser. The dog had pure white fur, as if it was made of snow. It barked three times, then landed in my lap. "Hey there. I'll just call you... Buddy." I lifted him as he barked and wagged his tail. The dog's new name was Buddy.

"Well then, Buddy. What should we do while we wait?" I looked at the dog, Buddy, as he barked, and went to give me a cup of water. "Heh. I don't need water now, but thanks." I sipped the cold beverage as Buddy lay in my lap, fast asleep. As the hours struck, they dragged me to sleep as well. Just then, a small tap landed on my leg.

I woke up to Flowey's kind smile. I brushed his lily-pad shaped petals as I said, "Hey, Flowey. How's it going in the Ruins?" His smile dropped a bit as he replied, "No humans have fallen yet. I'm beginning to forget my lines.." He added sarcastically, rolling his eyes playfully. I started giggling, which woke up Buddy, and his yawn also sounded almost like a laugh.

But at the same time, I wondered why no humans have fallen down here. Have they been more careful? Do they dislike us? Do they always... reset? I let my mind wander as a portal came, and Sans came out. "heya." He smiled as I woke up. Yes, I fell asleep, and Flowey went back to the Ruins. Buddy woke up, barking and  running around Sans, as he added, "pap wanted me to get some exercise, so i came here. say.." He looked around, then looked at me. "terra, aren't you supposed to be at your post?"

I nodded no as I answered, "No, Undyne's looking for humans at Waterfall, and my brother's taking over my post." Sans nodded in approval as Buddy continued barking, running around like an energetic puppy. "oh. okay. and alphys wanted me to give this to you." He gave me a little letter, with a small container attached to it. "'use it wisely', she said." Then the portal opened again, and Sans walked through.

As a liquid in the container slowly slid down the transparent walls, I read the letter.

Dear Terratale Sans,

Hi. I'm Alphys. You might already know that. I've heard your watching for humans, right? Well, I made a solution for when you need help in battle. It has some chemicals in it that increase your defense and attack, with a pinch of Determination. If you expect a rainbow of colors, a minor spoiler, it only changes internally. Your appearance will stay the same. Oh, and the Determination? I  added so little, you can't melt. But it still works! Hope it helps you!

I put the container in my inventory. "I wonder when Alphys will talk as well as she writes." After a few seconds, Buddy and I started waiting for a human. Then, as I felt my eyes get blurry, I whispered, "Getting ready to see a human... Fills you with determination." Then I fell asleep.
