Chapter 29

Jungkook drove back to the house after getting his car back from Seokjin's place. Turned out it was more than just a battery problem, but luckily it was all fixed thanks to Seokjin. It was very early in the morning when Seokjin picked him up, and Chaeyoung was still asleep when he left the house.

When he opened the door, he heard hurried footsteps rushing down the stairs before his fiancée appeared with a heavy frown on her face. "Where were you?"

"I went to pick the car at Seokjin's place," he said while taking off his shoes. "Why?"

Chaeyoung crossed her arms over her chest and blew her hair off her face. "Couldn't you at least wake me up?"

"I'd feel bad," he said, approaching her. Jungkook brushed the back of his fingers against her cheek. "You were in a deep sleep so I didn't wake you up."

Chaeyoung's eyes didn't leave his as her mouth fell open. "I was in a deep sleep?" she gasped and pushed her fist against his chest. "You should have woken me up! What if something or someone—"

"I locked the door when I left," he assured her. "There's no monster. No ghosts. No weird creepy creatures."

"Oh..." her eyebrows raised. "Of course. The door's locked. No one or nothing could get in without a key," she murmured and Jungkook nodded his head with a smile before the smile dropped when her round eyes turned sharp as she glared at him.

"No one could get in if they didn't notice the broken window! Which is conveniently just right beside the door. Do you want me to remind you how you got into the house without the key?"

Jungkook shut his eyes and sighed. He had completely forgotten about the broken window.

"I could've gotten killed in my sleep!"

He inhaled deeply, feeling frustrated at himself how that had slipped from his mind. "That won't happen."

"Oh what do you know?" she scoffed. "That could happen."

"Stop saying that," he grumbled.

"I was sleeping naked, too," she shivered, hugging her body.

Just thinking that she was right and that someone else could run into her sleeping naked on his bed slowly filled Jungkook up with rage for that unknown stranger.

"I'll have it fixed, okay?"

Chaeyoung pouted. "Soon?"

"Soon," he promised with a nod. "By today. I can even go back to the town now."

He tried not to let a smile form on his face as she continued to pout while she stared at him as if she was trying to see if he was being serious or not.

"Now? I'm going with you. You can't just leave me here all alone with that broken window."

It was only when she turned around and began to walk away that Jungkook realized how she was only wearing her thin, transparent nightgown.

"Where are you going?"

Chaeyoung turned to him. "Shower." She pointed at him threateningly. "Don't leave. Do you understand?"

Jungkook didn't realize that he had only been staring at her body without blinking his eyes until Chaeyoung snapped her fingers and called him.

"My eyes are up here, Mr. Jeon."

He finally brought his eyes up to hers. "What?"

Chaeyoung rolled her eyes at him. "We'll go together after I shower."

"Understood, Ms. Park," he teased and earned another roll of her eyes before she turned away and went upstairs.

After only five minutes of Chaeyoung leaving to shower, Jungkook found himself restless on the couch. He hesitated but decided to go against the little voice in him that reminded him how she probably wouldn't like it if he couldn't wait. He shut the voice in his head when he arrived right in front of the bathroom door, shirt and pants were already off and on the floor before he opened the door carefully.

She didn't realize that he'd entered the bathroom and only did when he stepped into the shower and held her waist. Chaeyoung gasped and almost screamed as she quickly spun around.

She turned the shower off and lightly punched his chest. "Are you trying to make it a habit to scare me?"

"You're taking too long," he said, pulling her closer with a smirk.

"It hasn't even been—" Her words were cut off when he started kissing her neck and Jungkook's smile spread on his face as he continued to slowly move toward her jaw when she softly moaned. "Jungkook."

"You knew what you were doing walking around the house with that fucking nightgown, do you?" The tips of his fingers traveled up and down her spine. He pulled his head back and licked his lips as he stared at her, face and hair wet, teeth digging into her bottom lip. "You're a fucking tease, do you know that?"

Chaeyoung's eyes were round as she looked up at him with those confused brows knitting together before slowly, a smirk was plastered on her face. "Took you long enough to notice it though."

He chuckled, shaking his head. "You're going to be the death of me," he said and cupped the back of her neck, leaning in for a kiss.

Chaeyoung was giggling when she broke the kiss and Jungkook groaned in frustration when she tried to avoid him.

"And you're going to turn this into a long shower," she reminded him, laughing when he managed to secure her waist with one arm.

Jungkook gently pushed her until her back met the wall. He watched as she blinked and the water dropped from her lashes. His hand slid down her waist to her hip, smoothing his palm against the soft skin of her bum before he gave a squeeze to the cheek. "What do you think my intention was when I entered the shower with you?"

At one point while they were kissing, Chaeyoung had switched their position and pushed him against the wall, biting her lip when she broke the kiss and Jungkook's brows furrowed when she took a small step back before he realized what she was about to do.

"Chaeyoung...?"

She placed a finger against his lips, silently shushing him and Jungkook watched Chaeyoung as she slowly went down on her knees in front of him, her hands crawling down his body. He swallowed hard upon seeing his beautiful fiancée looking up at him, a teasing smile tugging at her lips as she took a hold of his cock before she leaned toward it.

Jungkook's eyes began to fall shut and his face creased as pleasure began to stream all through his system.

She really was going to be the death of him.

"I thought you said you would fix the broken window," Chaeyoung said after noticing that they had stopped at a diner.

"It'll be fixed by today, as promised," Jungkook smiled. "I called someone to fix it. And hopefully by the time we get back home, it's already done. For now, let's eat. I know you're starving."

Chaeyoung rolled her eyes but chuckled when Jungkook mocked her in return. As Chaeyoung watched Jungkook ordering their food, the corners of her lips tugged into a soft smile when his words earlier replayed in her mind.

'...we get back home...'

It was so weird to think that just a few months back, she couldn't stand to be in the same room as him. But now, just those simple words made her heart flutter thinking how sooner or later, they'd be sharing a home, they'd live and start a family together. Going back to the house he grew up in that he'd just called home, made her feel like she truly belonged to his life now.

When Jungkook first told her that he wanted to take her somewhere for their dates, she never thought of staying at the house he grew up in, which was basically his house. At the end of the day, after he dragged her to multiple random places around the town, giving her glimpses of memories he had at those places, Jungkook had brought her for grocery shopping.

There was something about going back home together with the groceries that made her heart full and warm. She never expected to be ecstatic to spend the rest of her applied leave in this house, coming back home to the same house after a date, cooking and cleaning together, falling asleep in the same bed, and waking up in each other's arms.

They decided to cook dinner and while Chaeyoung was washing the vegetables, her phone rang on the kitchen counter where Jungkook was preparing some ingredients.

"Chaeyoung," he called her.

"One second," Chaeyoung wiped off her hands. "Who's that?"

She heard his soft sigh as he handed her the phone. "Jaehyun."

Chaeyoung's hand froze for a moment, just inches away from taking the phone from him. Her eyes dropped to the screen to see Jaehyun's name and her mind reeled back to a couple days ago when Jaehyun had come over to her place, hugged her in front of Jungkook and Jungkook's silent treatment on what was supposed to be such a happy day.

She dropped her hand to her side and looked up at Jungkook. "You answer it."

Jungkook's brows were drawn together as he stared at her, obviously confused with her decision. He inhaled deeply and his voice dropped when he asked, "What do you want me to say?"

Chaeyoung stepped closer and smiled at him softly. "Anything you want."

"Chaeyoung..." he sighed.

The call suddenly ended and Jungkook looked slightly relieved and was about to place the phone back on the counter when Jaehyun's name appeared again.

She nodded her head at him when he glanced at her.

"You have to answer this. 'Cause if you don't, he's going to think that I don't allow you to."

"Just answer it," she assured him.

"If I say anything I want, I will break a friendship, Chaeyoung." He shoved the phone toward her. "This is a call for you."

Chaeyoung pressed her lips into a thin line. "Jungkook... just answer it. Hm?"

Jungkook exhaled heavily, his thumb hovered over the answer button for a few seconds before he answered it. Instead of pressing the phone to his ear, Jungkook put the phone on a loud speaker and placed the device on the counter as he continued to stare at her.

"Hello, Chaeyoung?" Jaehyun said gently on the other line and Chaeyoung waited for Jungkook to respond.

"Hello," he responded briefly.

"Who is—" Jaehyun paused and his tone changed. "Where is Chaeyoung?"

Jungkook sighed. "Chaeyoung is—"

"Babe?" Chaeyoung cut her fiancé off and his eyes snapped toward her. "Who's that?"

Chaeyoung watched as Jungkook's mouth opened and closed for a moment before he seemed to realize what she was trying to do.

"Jaehyun," he answered.

She stared into Jungkook's eyes. "Oh... just tell him I'm busy."

He inhaled softly. "She said she's—"

Jaehyun ended the call. They both glanced at the screen and Chaeyoung noticed that Jaehyun had sent her texts that she hadn't read. He had been sending her texts, asking her whereabouts, asking if she was okay, asking if Jungkook was preventing her from replying to him. And she was certain that the new messages she received from him were about the same.

"Why didn't you reply to him?" Jungkook asked, noticing the notifications stacking up on her screen.

"I just don't want to," she shrugged and resumed washing the vegetables.

Jungkook stood still for a long time, and from the corner of her eye, she could see that he was just staring at her before he approached her. She felt his hand sliding to the small of her back, his other hand turned the tap off and Chaeyoung looked up at him before he turned her body completely toward him.

"Is it because of me?" he asked her gently.

Partly, yes, it was because of Jungkook that she refused to reply to any of Jaehyun's messages. But a huge part of the reason was because she was still irritated at her friend for what he did. She had tried to view it positively, that perhaps Jaehyun wasn't aware that his actions toward her were not suitable now that she was engaged to someone else. But the longer she thought about it, the weirder her guts felt about the whole situation with Jaehyun.

"Are you afraid that I'll get mad at you if you reply to his texts?"

Chaeyoung pursed her lips, her eyes glued to his neck for a while before she lifted her gaze. "I don't want you to ignore me again."

Jungkook's face softened as he released a soft sigh. "You do know that you can talk to him without my permission, don't you?"

Chaeyoung feigned annoyance as she snorted. "Someone's gonna get jealous, though."

"I'll get jealous," he nodded. "I get jealous whenever he gets better treatment than I do," he admitted with a chuckle and it was Chaeyoung's turn for her face to soften.

"But baby," he pulled her closer and looked her straight in the eyes, and Chaeyoung's heart fluttered hearing that term of endearment. "I do know now that you only see him as a friend. If there's someone who sees that anything can blossom between you two, it's him. Only him," he said and added with a teasing brow, "I hope."

Chaeyoung lightly pinched his chest and Jungkook chuckled, swatting her hand away before taking it in his, lacing their fingers together. Her lips formed a pout a moment later, her eyes glaring at him. "So why did you ignore me? Gave me the cold shoulder as if I was the one who gave him a bouquet of flowers and pulled him into a hug."

Jungkook shut his eyes as he chuckled. "I know. I wasn't in my right mind. I'm sorry about that. I was pissed about it, but mostly at him."

"Mostly at him," she muttered. "Means you were pissed with me too."

"More like, irritated?" He lifted a brow with a soft smile when she pouted at him. "I think I..." he trailed off, finishing his sentence with a shrug and a chuckle instead.

"You what?" she urged. "Don't leave me hanging."

Jungkook seemed to be lost in his thoughts for a moment, contemplating whether he should say it. He exhaled heavily. "I guess... I was kind of scared that you'd get swayed. Or, have already swayed. After all, he knew you longer than I do."

A small smile formed on her face. "Jungkook," she softly called him and waited until he looked her in the eyes. She inhaled softly, her thumb rubbing gently on his arm. "I would have swayed a long time ago, long before I met you, if there was even an ounce of interest I have in him."

Chaeyoung had never seen Jaehyun as more than a friend, despite some of their mutual friends commenting how they might look good as a couple. He had always been a good friend to her, and since the first time she had known Jaehyun until now, there was never a moment where she had the slightest attraction toward him. Not even the accidental kiss they had when they were younger planted a seed of attraction toward him. Their relationship had always been platonic, and she wanted it to stay that way.
