Chapter 21
Just when she thought that the second Jungkook's hands were gently holding her face, her lips would finally meet his, Chaeyoung's eyes shot open in surprise when she felt him gently pushing her head away from his, accompanied by a low 'stop'.
Chaeyoung's brows dropped as Jungkook looked away, his hands gripping her arms and pushing her away before he quickly turned on his heel. His shoulders rose for a couple seconds before they dropped, his sigh heavy.
She felt her lips trembling as she watched his tensed back, his fingers raking through his hair and she could feel the frustration emanating from him.
"Stop... Enough..." Chaeyoung muttered.
Jungkook dropped his hand from his hair and he merely looked at her over his shoulder.
"Why?" she asked, her voice breaking. "Why do you keep saying that? Why do you keep saying that it's enough?"
He was silent, focusing back toward his front instead of turning to her. She waited despite the disappointment growing bigger within her.
"Why?" she repeated.
Jungkook made a noise in his throat. "Because—" He sighed heavily. "Because that's what we should do."
Though she tried so hard to hold it in, a tear escaped and she quickly wiped it away before it dropped to the floor. "We?" Chaeyoung tried to laugh but it sounded pathetic. "Has it ever occurred to you that I might want more than enough?"
"You don't want that."
She scoffed as irritation bubbled within her. "What do you know about what I want?"
It angered her that instead of treating her like how he'd been in the beginning of their relationship, as the days went by, he changed her perspective of him. He made her feel safe and protected despite how reluctant she was to let him into her life. Who was to blame when this happened? Him? Or was it her fault for letting her guards down?
"You don't get to tell me what I want and what I don't. If you don't want me, Jungkook, you should just say so. Instead of trying to turn it on me, instead of making me think that you fucking wanted me even just for a little bit, just tell it to my face that you don't want me if that's what you really feel. Stop misleading me."
Jungkook's fists were clenched on his side but he remained quiet. When his silence prolonged, Chaeyoung's frustration grew at him and at herself.
"Not a word? Really?" She nodded her head quietly and stomped to take her handbag on the couch. "As expected from a coward," she mumbled under her breath.
"Where are you going?" He sighed heavily.
"Out of here."
"Out where?"
Chaeyoung threw her hands in the air. "I don't know, Jungkook. Just— out. Somewhere. Anywhere. Maybe someplace else where I'll find someone who won't waste my time." Her hand landed on the door handle. "Maybe someone out there would actually want me, since apparently, you don't."
Just before she could swing the door open, Jungkook's hand roughly pushed against the door, blocking her from opening the door.
"In that case," his hand wrapped around her arm before he turned her around to face him, "you're not leaving."
His eyes were burning, but she wasn't easily backed down as she stared back at him challengingly, tilting her chin upward. "Why not? Why should I stay here? Do you need me to continue making a fool of myself into thinking that you would want me? Is that your form of entertainment?"
"You think I don't want you?" he growled.
Chaeyoung chuckled humorlessly, rolling her eyes. "You know what? Actually, I don't have to think, I know you don't."
She tried to turn back around but he pinned her to the door.
"Well, you fucking know wrong," Jungkook scoffed. "I don't want you? Do you have any fucking idea what you've done to me? Do you?"
It was her turn to have her mouth zipped as she stared into his furious eyes deeply.
"Does it look like I don't want you?" he asked with a low voice.
If he thought blocking her from leaving his place was a strong proof, then he was wrong. Perhaps it was all fun to him to watch her as she let her guards down around him. Perhaps it gave him power to see her slowly give in to him. Perhaps...
Her breath stuck in her throat when she blinked and her eyes accidentally glanced downward. Chaeyoung's eyes widened as she continued to stare at the tent in his pants and a loud gasp left her mouth when Jungkook took one of her hands and placed it onto the growing bulge on his crotch. His jaw clicked when her hand made contact with it and Chaeyoung's lips parted, her breathing shallow.
"Does it feel like I don't want you?"
She couldn't find any word to answer his question, feeling her hand shaking as he pressed it more onto the tent. Jungkook breathed heavily and she felt him hardened even more when she slightly moved her hand. When Chaeyoung gently clasped the bulge under her hand, rubbing her thumb against the clothed manhood of his, Jungkook let out a suppressed groan. It was all it took to make her realize that she was starting to get moist in between her legs. He closed his eyes and rested his creased forehead against hers.
"You don't fucking know how much I want you, Park Chaeyoung." He took her hand off of him and pinned both of her hands on each side of her head. "I want you so bad... so fucking bad, Chaeyoung." He shook his head and let her hands go. "But I can't."
Can't? Chaeyoung held onto his neck, her thumb caressing his skin. "Why?" she breathed. "What do you mean you can't?"
Jungkook lifted his forehead, eyes staring deep into hers. Frustration and desperation now clear as day reflected in his eyes. "I don't want to cross the line..."
She cupped his cheek. She knew he knew that she was now more than okay if the line was erased. In fact, she had longed for him to be the one to do it first. Why did he not want to? "But why? It's... it's okay to cross the line."
He shook his head and took her hand from his cheek. "It's not."
"What if I tell you I want you to cross the line?"
"No," he shook his head.
"Jungkook..." she sighed.
"Chaeyoung, please. Don't," he said, firmer. "Don't make me cross the line. I don't want it. I'm... not ready for it." He leaned forward, letting his head thud against the door behind her, his face buried into her shoulder. "I don't think I'll ever be ready."
"What are you talking about?" she stiffened, her brows furrowed. "Ready for what?"
Jungkook sighed into her shoulder, his warm breath stayed on her skin. "I'm not ready to let go of you." He stepped back and stared into her eyes softly. "I don't want to. So, please, I beg you. It's already hard as it is."
His words telling her how he wasn't ready to let go of her replayed in her head over and over again. Knowing how he'd wanted her as much as she wanted him, and how he refused to let go of her made her heart flutter, her stomach knot as she realized that it was not one-sided. But his statement caused the confusion to grow within her. She let his words loop her head as she stared at him with furrowed brows, trying to decipher the meaning behind it until it finally clicked.
"Are you..." she swallowed as an image of a paper appeared in her head. "Are you referring to... point number four in the agreement we signed?"
Jungkook looked at her long like she had just asked a stupid question. As soon as he nodded, Chaeyoung breathed deeply as a mixture of feelings swirled within her. She looked down at the handbag hanging on her shoulder, her hand rushing to rummage its inside and once her fingers found what she was looking for, she immediately pulled it out quickly. Jungkook stared at her as she unfolded the paper and skimmed through everything.
1. Visiting each other's office from time to time
2. Attend a monthly dinner together in the Jeons residence
3. Attend every event at the Parks together
Her eyes landed on the fourth rule, the one that she had provided.
4. Skinship is allowed with the exception of kissing and sex.
Chaeyoung exhaled heavily as her eyes jumped to the sentence at the bottom of the list.
The engagement between A) Jeon Jungkook and B) Park Chaeyoung will be called off shall any of the rules be broken off by either A or B.
The bottom of the page had their signatures and names. Chaeyoung bit her lip hard as she stared at her own signature and without thinking twice, she tore the agreement into tiny pieces in front of Jungkook.
Jungkook looked dumbfounded as his eyes went back and forth between her and the torn pieces of the argument on the floor.
"Where's your copy?" she asked.
He stilled momentarily in front of her, eyes fixated on hers before he suddenly left without a word. Chaeyoung watched his back nervously as he disappeared the further he walked away from her. While she was leaning her head back against the door, Jungkook reappeared with a paper in his hand.
"Tear it," she told him once he stood right back in front of her.
Jungkook stared at the folded paper in his hand. "You do it for me," he handed it to her, "so that we can both be sure that you nullified the fourth rule yourself."
The paper in his hand looked as if it had been folded and unfolded many times with the clear creases and torn edges. Had he been thinking of the agreement a lot? Did the rules get him to rethink everything after what had happened between them?
Chaeyoung snatched the paper from him and within seconds, his copy of the agreement turned into small pieces, joining hers on the floor. She stared at the tiny pieces of papers, of what used to be copies of the agreement they signed before they got engaged, and almost laughed at how they turned out at that short moment.
When she looked up at Jungkook, though, his eyes were already trained on her, deep and dark. The moment her lips parted, Jungkook's hands were instantly cupping her face and the next thing she knew was his lips were already pressed on hers. It almost felt like there was an electric current running through her system the moment she felt his lips on her. Her heart began to thump aggressively against her chest when Jungkook tilted his head even more, feeling his tongue trying to gain access into her mouth.
Chaeyoung moaned softly when their tongues met, dancing within their connected mouths, her hands gripping on his shoulders before she pulled him even more and they continued stealing each other's breaths. Jungkook pinned her to the door as he deepened the kiss and all Chaeyoung wanted was for them to never stop.
She could feel him pouring it all out in that deep kiss, as if to show her that it was long due. Jungkook kissed her hard like he had waited a lifetime for it and she returned it as hard as he did when she realized that it felt even better than how she had imagined it to be.
When the kiss finally broke, they breathed hard against each other's faces, their chests rose and fell heavily.
Jungkook cupped her face, caressing it gently. "Still engaged?" he asked breathily.
Chaeyoung's gaze was hazy as she nodded to confirm their status, that the rules were nullified. "Still engaged," she replied and instantly, she longed for his lips again. As if he could read her mind, Jungkook leaned in again to kiss her one more time.
"Was that what held you back?" she asked him when the kiss ended, her hand clasping on his shirt. "Rule number four?"
Jungkook pulled back as if to get a full view of her face, his gaze soft as he pressed an arm against the door right next to her head and nodded. "All the time."
Chaeyoung shut her eyes close and breathed softly. Her lips almost curled into a smile when she asked, "Why didn't you destroy it on your own?"
"That would be disrespecting you." His hand caressed the side of her neck before his fingers combed through her hair. "That was the only rule you set."
Chaeyoung opened her eyes and her smile grew wider when their eyes met. "Well, aren't you a respectful man?" she teased.
A small smirk played at the corner of his lips. "Why? Am I your type now?" He teased her in return.
Chaeyoung rolled her eyes. "You think too far," she snorted, though she leaned forward to kiss him.
Jungkook broke the kiss and stared deeply into her eyes, his hand cupping her face. "Who fucking got laid?"
"What?" she breathed confusedly.
"What was the caption about?"
Her head creased even more before she recalled her post of her and her friends wearing leis around their necks. She chuckled and tried to press a kiss on her fiancé's lips but he stopped her, clearly wanting an answer first.
"Everyone in the picture did," she pouted and when he began to frown further, she realized that he definitely misunderstood that wordplay. "Everyone who was there was welcomed with the flower leis."
He continued to stare at her for a few seconds before he heaved a sigh with his eyes shut. Jungkook leaned in again to capture her lips into a kiss and murmured 'tease' in between the kisses.
Jungkook was pressing his body onto hers and she could feel his hard cock against her that she moaned into the kiss. She clumsily peeled the jacket off of him, chuckling when he lost his patience at how the jacket got stuck just above his elbows. As soon as he got rid of the jacket, her smile widened when he rushed to claim her lips again. Chaeyoung tugged on the hem of his shirt while he was planting kisses from her jaw down to her neck. She bit on her lip and moaned at every spot that Jungkook kissed, causing a sensation down south.
Jungkook pulled Chaeyoung by her waist and as he was gently nibbling at the skin above her collarbone while his hand slowly pulled down the neck of her shirt to reveal more of her skin, the doorbell rang, causing them both to pause in their actions at the same time.
When he glanced to see who it was at the door through the monitor, he cursed under his breath.
Chaeyoung searched his eyes as she inhaled deeply. "What? Who?"
"It's my mom," Jungkook said quietly.
He quickly turned around, pausing when he realized the mess they made on the floor; his jacket and the torn agreement paper. Jungkook quickly took his jacket and hung it onto his shoulder before he rushed to sweep the papers on the floor. Chaeyoung confusedly watched him as he went back to her to scan her from top to bottom before he helped to pull back her shirt and smoothed down her hair. Jungkook inspected her one more time before nodding his head in approval and looked into her eyes.
"Can you get the door for me?"
"What?" Her voice dropped. "Why? That's your mom. I should— I don't know. I should hide."
"You're my fiancée. You don't need to hide."
"But where are you going?" she asked in confusion when he tried to make a run to the bedroom.
"Look what you've done to me," he signaled at his crotch and Chaeyoung's face heated up, a smile threatening to show. "I can't greet my mom like this, especially with you here with me."
"But—"
Jungkook pulled her into a deep kiss. "If she asks for me, just tell her I'm in the shower."
And just like that, he sprinted away. Chaeyoung stood there frozen until she heard the door ring again. She checked on her reflection briefly, taking a deep breath before she opened the door slowly.
Mrs. Jeon blinked in surprise when she realized that Chaeyoung was the one who had answered the door, and the confusion and surprise on her face transformed into excitement in seconds. Her smile was so wide that it almost broke her face into two.
"Chaeyoung?"
"Hi, Mrs. Jeon," Chaeyoung awkwardly smiled and pushed her hair behind her ears.
"I didn't expect to see you here!"
Chaeyoung laughed when her future mother-in-law embraced her. "I was just dropping by."
"I heard from your mom that you were away for a few days."
"Oh," Chaeyoung helped to take the bag Jungkook's mother brought with her. "I was on a business trip."
"Did you just come back?"
She nodded with a smile.
"You just got back and... you're here at Jungkook's place," his mother muttered to herself, a soft smile playing on her lips. Then, she turned to Chaeyoung and gave her a bigger smile that warmed Chaeyoung's heart. Seeing how happy his mother seemed to be with only knowing that Chaeyoung was at her son's place, Chaeyoung acknowledged how lucky she was to have a soon-to-be mother-in-law who was hugely fond of her.
"Where is he?" his mother asked.
"In the shower," Chaeyoung answered, trying to be nonchalant about it despite her inability to look the older woman in the eyes as what happened between Jungkook and her just minutes ago crawled into her mind.
"In the shower?" Mrs. Jeon lifted a brow.
"Um, yeah," Chaeyoung nodded and quickly added, "he just got back from work when I arrived."
She prayed so hard that his mother wouldn't delve into his current whereabouts or activities.
"You're not busy, are you?" his mother asked. "Not in a rush to go somewhere else?"
"No, not really," she chuckled.
"Great!" she clapped her hands together. "Then you stay here and eat with us."
"I'd love that," Chaeyoung chuckled, realizing that she was hungry too.
She helped to set up the table and sat across Jungkook's mother, chatting with the latter about random things. A while later, she could hear Jungkook's footsteps from behind.
"Mom," he said, pulling the chair right beside Chaeyoung and taking a seat, " I wasn't expecting to see you today."
Chaeyoung tried her best not to gulp when he placed an arm on the back of her seat.
"Why?" His mother asked innocently. Then, Chaeyoung watched as his mother's eyes looked at his arm behind her and a knowing smile appeared on her face. "Am I interrupting something?"
"No," they answered at the same time before Chaeyoung added, "Of course, not." Heat rose on her cheeks.
His mother failed to hide the smirk on her face when she lifted her hands in defeat.
"I mean," Jungkook cleared his throat. "You usually would tell me if you were coming."
"Well, it's been a while since you came home for lunch. I was worried that you're not eating well, so I brought you some food," she said, gesturing to all the food on the table.
"I haven't skipped meals yet, mom. No worries."
His mother grinned. "Thanks to someone who's been taking care of you pretty well." She turned to Chaeyoung. "Turns out I didn't need to worry after all."
Chaeyoung awkwardly smiled in return, her gaze dropped to her fingers fidgeting on her lap. Jungkook cleared his throat again and suggested that they start eating. As she glanced to her side, she almost couldn't suppress her smile when she saw Jungkook looking at his food with a small smile on his face.

a/n:
+ sorry for that cliffhanger in the previous chapter! the chapter got too long so i had to cut it.
+ not sure if this is necessary but here goes: lei = flower garland/flower necklaces. the caption on chaeyoung's instagram post in chapter 19 was inspired by a scene in one of the episodes in Avatar: The Last Airbender that features a visual pun of using lei to imply that someone got laid. chaeyoung's caption, however, was just a play on the word lei and lay, in which when someone received the lei, they got lei'd, which sounds like laid! XD
