Chapter 13
Chaeyoung paused the show she was watching when her phone rang.
"Yes, darling," Chaeyoung chuckled. "What can I help you with today? Or," she paused briefly to see the window. "Tonight?" she smirked.
No response and her smirk slowly brushed off her face, her brows furrowed. "Jennie?" She heard a sniff and she immediately sat up, putting away her popcorn. "Aw, are you crying?"
"No," Jennie replied, then, "Yes." Jennie cried over the phone, gibberish things came out of her mouth layered with her cry.
Chaeyoung waited until her friend calmed down before she asked, "I love you, Jennie but I don't understand a word you said. Can you repeat?"
Jennie somehow managed to laugh but cried a little next. A moment later she began to speak, explaining to Chaeyoung why she'd been upset. Apparently, she had a first fight with her boyfriend and stormed out of his house in anger when she'd accidentally seen a text message from a woman, who was his ex-girlfriend.
"It's not the fact that he's still in contact with his ex that pissed me off," Jennie sniffled. "They're still in contact and the question that she asked him in the text was; 'Are we still going out on the date this weekend?'"
"Oh my gosh!" Chaeyoung gasped. "Are you saying that they're seeing each other behind your back?"
"That's what it looks like." Jennie yelled into her pillow, she assumed, as how muffled her scream was. "Chaeng, I can't do this. I need to go out. I spent the whole day crying. I want to release some stress."
"Okay, okay," Chaeyoung nodded though her friend couldn't see. "What do you want to do? Where do you want to go? Do you want to go for a drive? Tteokbokki and soju at our favorite place?"
"No, that's not enough." Jennie was muttering to herself for a few seconds and Chaeyoung waited. "My friend's going to this party at the club we went to last month. I'm going and I need you to come with me. Please?"
Clubbing on a Sunday night? Would Chaeyoung say no to that? Obviously not.
"Got you, girl!" she excitedly pointed to nothing as if Jennie was in front of her.

Jungkook and Jimin were laughing as Jimin's character in the game that they were playing, by some miracle, won over Jungkook again. They had been playing for hours at Jimin's place while Taehyung was spending his time glued to his phone.
"Motherfucker."
"Whoa," Jungkook chuckled. "No need to get emotional."
Jimin laughed harder. "If someone has to get emotional, it's gotta be Jungkook here. He's about to lose five times in a row. Let me mark this special date."
Taehyung got up from the couch. "You two get up. Enough with the game. We have somewhere to go."
"We barely started," Jungkook grumbled.
Jimin turned to check the time. "We played for over five hours, but yeah, we barely started. Jungkook is on his losing streak, which is a rare occasion, so allow me to enjoy this win."
"No, you can continue that on any other day. Come on, now. I need you guys as backups."
"Backups?"
Taehyung groaned before he zoomed in on something on his phone and showed it to both Jungkook and Jimin. "My angry girlfriend is in some club and she's hanging out with these dudes."
Jimin let out a long sigh. "And what do you want us to do about it?"
"Be my backup. In case I lose my shit." Taehyung zoomed in on one of the men. "These guys are huge. Jungkook, you be my bodyguard. Jimin, you calm me down whenever you notice I'm about to go insane."
"No thanks," Jungkook said. "Just apologize to your girlfriend and take her home."
"Yeah! There's no need to throw hands, Tae," Jimin agreed.
Taehyung ignored them as he walked toward the door. He stopped and turned around, tapping something on his phone and nodded toward Jungkook. Jungkook took his buzzing phone out of his pocket and saw that Taehyung had sent him two pictures.
"Your girl's there too."
His smile dropped. Jungkook swiped left and right, back and forth between the two pictures. "Which club?"

While Jennie was dancing with Lisa, going wild on the stage, Chaeyoung joined everyone who was watching, cheering so loud for her friend. She laughed so much and while Jennie benefited from this last minute club visit, Chaeyoung realized that this was what she needed too after being so stressed with work.
When Jennie and Lisa finished dancing and went down the stage, Jennie ran toward her and they hugged, laughing together.
"Wow! Isn't life great without men? Where did my headache go? Gone!" Jennie said over the loud music and caused Chaeyoung to almost fall as they swayed and laughed out loud.
"My throat's dry. I'm gonna get some drinks." Chaeyoung said and Jennie gave her a teasing widened eyes.
"That's how you're going to hydrate yourself?" Jennie chuckled.
"Not everyday," Chaeyoung winked. "You want some?"
"Nah, I'm good!" Then, Lisa pulled Jennie back to dance when the next song played.
Chaeyoung was on her way to the bar, grinning as she made eye contact with the bartender who had served her earlier when a figure came to stand right in front of her, causing her to almost stumble on her feet trying not to bump into him.
Her eyes enlarged upon realizing that it was Jungkook. "Oh, what are you doing here?"
"Looking for you," he said simply before he ran his eyes from her head down to her toes. "What are you doing here?"
"What else would I be doing here?"
"Why didn't you tell me you'd be here?"
Chaeyoung narrowed her eyes at him as she walked over to the bar, requesting for a glass. "Do I need to?"
His lips were pressed into a thin line. "Well, not really. But— Stop answering my question with another question."
She looked at him for a while. "Why?" she asked, knowing well that he was probably beyond irritated.
"For fuck's sake—"
Chaeyoung laughed. "Since you're already here, why don't you go and have some fun, too, hm?" She downed her drink in one go, passing him her glass before making her way back to the crowd but Jungkook stopped her with a question.
"And what about you?"
She turned and smiled. "I didn't come here to sit and do nothing, Jungkook," she said with a wink.
*
Chaeyoung was drunk.
First, she freely smiled and laughed at him.
Second, she called him 'Jungkook' instead of 'Mr. Jeon'.
And third, she winked at him. She fucking winked at him. Sober Chaeyoung wouldn't do that.
As much as Jungkook wanted to take her home at that instant, he remembered how stressed she seemed to be in the past few days and this was probably one of her ways to destress other than food. He decided to sit at the bar and watch her, trying his best to fix his eyes on her head. Although, it was hard to focus when she was wearing that black bodycon dress that hugged her body just right, displaying the beautiful line of her body.
She was laughing with her friends when they danced to the song and at one point, Jungkook could feel his lips curling into a small smile seeing her enjoying the night with her friends. Chaeyoung looked to one side of the club, waving her hand and inviting that person to join her and her friends and Jungkook turned to see Taehyung looking at them hesitantly.
His girlfriend didn't notice yet and Taehyung made his move, approaching slowly while he began dancing his way toward them. When his girlfriend noticed, she stopped dancing and Taehyung said something to her while Chaeyoung excused herself, taking the hand of one of her friends, going to another area to continue dancing with other people.
Jungkook was tempted to leave his seat to go to her. He knew how to have fun too, and wanted to show her how he would have fun, but he didn't want her laughter to fade.
Another stranger joined them, obviously taking an interest in Chaeyoung who gladly danced with him. They looked like they were having fun and her laughter didn't seem like it would die down soon. The smile Jungkook had when he watched her earlier had faded from his face.
He promised himself not to drink because he'd be driving her home later, but seeing how delighted Chaeyoung was dancing with the man who seemed to want more than just a dance, Jungkook felt something burning from behind his chest, his grip on the glass she had passed him tightened.
"Alone?"
Jungkook glanced toward the woman who had taken a seat beside him. He didn't need someone to tell him that this woman was interested in him. He most definitely noticed the way she was eyeing him, the way her smile was hanging on her lips when their eyes met, and the way she pulled her seat closer to his.
He turned away, fixing his attention back toward Chaeyoung. "I came with my fiancée."
The woman hummed. "That's funny. I don't see her."
"Of course you don't." He chuckled dryly. "But you will, though, if you'd just look at where I'm looking."
He almost smacked the glass in his hand to the bar top when he asked for a glass from the bartender as the man Chaeyoung was dancing with began putting his hands on her waist. He downed his drink so fast while the woman next to him cursed.
"That's your fiancée?" She whistled. "Damn. Does she want a fiancée?"
Jungkook's brows furrowed as he slowly turned to the woman and she snorted at him.
"Your fiancée is dancing with another man and you're sitting here? Make it make sense."
He said nothing as he gripped his glass tight, listening to the woman stating the obvious. Jungkook's eyes darkened as he continued watching Chaeyoung swaying her hips, running her hand down her body, lifting her head up with her eyes closed, like she was feeling the music. He could feel his pants tightening the longer his eyes were glued to her and Jungkook cursed himself in his head, reminding himself that all he could and should do was watch her, and nothing more.
"If she can dance with another man," the woman nudged his arm with hers, "then you can dance with another woman, too."
Jungkook briefly narrowed his eyes on the woman. He wasn't certain if she was shooting her shots at him or she was trying to help him by playing the classic make-them-jealous move. Either way, he wasn't interested in spending even a second on that. Especially when he turned his attention back to Chaeyoung, another man had already joined her and her dance partner, and her smile had been wiped off her face as the two men were closing in on her.
