Ch. 5 ≫"You love the park, don't you?"

The light pouring from my window blinds me into waking up. I reluctantly wipe my sore eyes and try to sit up, but arms hold me down and I briefly forget that someone else is in my bed.

I look down and Sean is holding onto me like his life depends on it, yet he is sound asleep.

I take a moment to look over his features. His eyes are closed, eyelashes brushing just slightly on his cheeks. His thin lips are apart only the slightest and his hair falls just over his forehead.

I chuckle slightly at myself over the fact that I am staring at Sean and he doesn't even know.

"Hmm... What's so funny...?" I hear mumbled against my pillow. He obviously isn't fully awake.

"Nothing. But you should get up," I reply.

I hear him grunt before turning more on his side to attempt to look up at me. "Why?" He asks, his eyes still closed but I can tell he is becoming more conscious.

"So the day can be longer!" I exclaim.

I hear more grunts come from Sean as he completely turns onto his back, staring at my ceiling to gain his sight.

"Yay. You actually listened," I say in a cheerful tone.

"I hate the morning." Is the only thing Sean says and I laugh.

"Why? The mornings are great," I say, stretching my arms in the air.

Sean rolls his eyes in return and scoffs. "I just don't like it. I'm always tired."

"You'll get use to it." I get out of bed by crawling over Sean's body as he grunts under me from my weight.

I dash over to my dresser to grab some clothes for the day and Sean struggles to get out of bed. I laugh when he nearly falls over once standing.

"I'll ask my mom if we can go somewhere today, you know, to hang out and become even more friends," I explain. Sean nods.

"Can we go to the park?" He asks.

"I'll try my best." I smile at him while he lets a squeal of excitement leave his lips, his body already waking up from the excitement.

Sean leaves my room to change in the bathroom and I do the same before coming back. When both finished, we head down the stairs and smell bacon on our way.

"Good morning kids, sleep well?" My mom asks when seeing us enter the kitchen. She finishes off the last slices of bacon, setting them on a plate separately.

"Yes ma'am. The food smells good!" Sean gets distracted by the sizzling meat that my mom sets on the island counter. He doesn't take any time to set himself down in a chair.

Mom chuckles to herself before speaking, "I'm glad, and please help yourself."I sit down by Sean who is already eating at his food.

"Is it alright if we go to the park today? Sean requested it."

Mom nods her head in agreement. "Of course we can. Just eat up and we can head there afterwards." She smiles at us and we give one in return.

After eating our breakfast and waiting on Mom to get changed and ready to go to the park with us, we leave in the car. The ride there was quite, not including the outbursts of random lyrics from songs that Sean attempted to sing. Didn't really help that he wasn't sure what the words to the songs he was singing. It was funny to listen to though, he was having fun and happy, that's all that mattered. We arrive soon, and Sean and I head straight to the swing set located near the playground.

"You two be careful! I'll be over here on the bench watching. Let me know when you are done playing!" Mom calls to us as we dash.

"Okay!" Sean and I yell back in unison.

We both get on a swing, the swings being right next to each other. I pull my swing back with my legs and release when I can't go any further. I move my legs along with the swing, making me go higher.

I notice that Sean isn't swinging next to me. He sits there fumbling with the ground with his shoes. I slow down my swing until I come to a complete stop.

"Sean? Why aren't you swinging with me?" I ask, furrowing my eyebrows at him.

He turns his head away from me after being asked. I hear him mumble something, but I couldn't quite catch it.

"What?"

"I said I don't know how to swing," He turns his face to me, his cheeks shades with pink. "I'm sorry." He looks away with embarrassment.

"Don't be sorry, okay? Here," I get up from my swing and get behind Sean, griping the chains on his swing. "I'll teach you." Sean doesn't respond, he must not know where to start. "Is that okay? Just grip onto the chains and move your legs when I tell you to. I'll push you," I say softly.

"Just don't worry, I'm right behind you." He nods slightly and does as he is told. He grips his hands under mine and lifts his head.

I pull Sean back and release when he is high enough. He squeal when doing so, but I can see his forming smile. I continue to push him every time he swings back.

"Now just move your legs with the swing to make you go higher!" I tell him as I back away slowly. He soon gets down the rhythm and swings by himself with a grin on his face.

I get on my swing and start to mimic his movements. I manage to get the same height as Sean and we both swing in unison. It felt magical, us both swinging and laughter leaving are lips. I closed my eyes and it felt like I was flying, the wind was caring me along the sky. I can picture it clearly, a sunset just over the horizon, clouds just right below us, and Sean by my side, smiling at me. And for a brief moment, it all felt real. I open my eyes and look over to Sean, he's already looking back at me.

"You love the park, don't you?" I ask, and Sean only replies with a smile.

That was enough for me to understand.
