Write truth fearlessly - Nandan Gautam

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

Interview with Nandan Gautam – a young mind that writes for a change.

Greetings Nandan..

Hope you had a wonderful day.. Let me putforth my questions now...

Can you tell me about yourself?

I like traveling (doesnt necessarily mean out of state) , meeting new strangers, getting to know them , observing their lifestyle, the way they live rich or poor doesnt matter.

I like profiling people, talking to them , knowing their interests , the way they look at certain aspects of life. Sometimes i just observe people , their lives. (Was used to be the part of my job).

I sometimes feel like i try to find the missing pieces in my life by looking in their's, but thats not it. I like staying alone , the most of the times, and yes , I have friends, very precious friends ...

I never keep money for myself spend it as soons as i get it , mostly on friends and family, i hardly ever spend it on myself.

How did you get interested in writing?

I never thought that i will start writing one day, or i want to write something , but one day my mother was reading a newspaper , times of india, and she had a mixed emotional face as if she is feeling pity for someone as well as aggressive, the news she was reading was the death of aruna shaun baugh ,

A rape victim who was a nurse and suffered for 42 years in COMA. My mother is also a nurse, sister incharge hindu rao hospital, ....retired on march 31st. That day i decided to write something which can bring some change in laws and secondly I wanted to do a survey, for that i had to meet with rapists , convicted felons , eve teasers , molesters.

I heard their stories and was stunned ..... I met 10 rapists but out of those i was not able to write the stories of 6 ...

They were stone cold cockroaches , no guilt what so ever, infact one even said

" ladkiyan to hoti hi sex karne ke liye hain "

I thought in my mind , do you think the same for your mother.

You mentioned that you met rapists, convicted ... What were the troubles you had to face for that?

First trouble was to locate them , some lawyers and old sources helped me to get their whereabouts and location ie if they are in prison or they are out completing their sentences. Some were undergoing trial.

Second was to see if i can actually meet them, i never took an appointment or something ust went to them to speak with them. Most of them shifted with their families. Some denied to meet. Some even threatened to beat me up if i ever came near them.

Out of a lot, i met 10 of them. At all times they were unaware of the fact what i am doing or why i am meeting them. All i was used to say was i am a practicing lawyer and need your truth just in case you get screwed by your current lawyer.

How did you feel that time?

I felt disgusted because i hate rapists but i had to meet with the , to speak with them , Know what goes on in their minds when they look at a girl. It wasnt a nice time.

This is really great. U have taken so much efforts for this book

Who's your favourite author?

Aravind adiga - The white tiger

Who has been your inspiration?

Inspiration.....

Its a hard question

Because i never had any ambition in life. All i wanted to do was live life ...

The works that i have done till now are PI (private investigator) for 9 years, Mechanic for a couple of months, Sales executive for 2 years, Car sale purchase broking for 5 years and Author (LOL). Currently I'm in insurance broking

So there is no pattern , i did what i liked, never thought where it will take me.

Cool

What are your views of this modern society?

Modern society , no views..

Ma'am no one can comment on the way people live unless you have a research report or something , one should not give generalised statements, secondly I feel the current generation is doing fine its just the old timers who are a problem and we need to guide the kids for certain things.

What was your family's reaction when you told them about your book?

I never did. Infact the only time they came to know about this was when i asked my mother to write a check for bluerose publishers.

Mommy was quite proud , i could see that in her eyes,

Dad was like....." in all this world you had to write about this"

Ohh.. haha.. honestly even i wondered why you chose to write on this..But then after giving it a thought I understand this book might help peoplel understand their mentality and prevent atleast one from becoming a rapist

That too the second main reason for writing this book is to let this govt of india know and acknowledge

HUMAN RIGHTS SHOULD NOT BE APPLICABLE ON RAPISTS. A convicted felon should not be considerd as a humanbeing.

Do you think it will happen?

Worth a shot.

Will be glad if it happens 😊

Well actually that will be a starting face , of the revolution When rapes will actually stop in india or anywhere else... That would be the day to feel glad.

Yea ryt

At the end of the book you have mentioned fight or die... How will poor little kids like Asifa fight?

No ma'am they can't fight because they are kids , we cant expect from the kids to fight its our job .....

But i mentioned in my book where i call mr z z that rapists look for vulnerable victims which are kids ...

There is no vocabulary to explain asifa's pain maam. But it was our responsibility to safeguard our children and hand the felons.... To which we as in "WE" have failed...

Where can readers find your writing and get in contact with you

Where readers can find me.. Uhmm.. Nowhere , i dont have a blog which i update every day, i stay in link with very few people.

What do you wish to say to your readers

Never see a male or female in a human bieng when you meet them , see a human bieng first

Respect them the way you want to be respected .

What do you like to say to budding writers

Write truth , and fearlessly.
