Interview with Bichitra Kumar Behura the author of "The Mystic in the land of love"

Greetings Sir..

Hope you are doing good. Let me begin the interview with the first question.

Can you tell us about yourself?

I am a Mechanical Engineer from BITS, Pilani and have a PhD degree in Marketing Management from Sagar Central University, working with Hindustan Petroleum in Retail Marketing .

When did you first start writing?

I wrote my 1st poem during school days at Cuttack.

Do you remember what you wrote first?

Don't remember it exactly. The first recognition I got .... was for my poem, Kishlaya (Mango Bud), an Odia poem in a school competition, in class IX.

If yes, can you kindly share with us?

I remember...this poem was on nature having some spiritual connotations with a motivational message. I don't have the poem now.

How did you get interested in writing?

This is one passion I have from my childhood days.

Who are your favourite authors? Why?

I followed many famous poets and writers both in Odia and English. Wordsworth, Keats, Shelly and others in English and all most all the great poets in Odia. To name a few ... they are Upendrabhanja, Abhimanyu SamantaSinghar, Gangadhar Meher , Bhima Bhoi etc.

Tell us about your book.

This is a collection of poems. The poems revolve around nature, Love, spirituality and about routine life. There are altogether 108 poems and they deal with different subjects.

What is the purpose of writing this book?

Initially the poems were shared among friends, through social media. My friends insisted that all these poems need to be presented in a collection for better reading. There was no thought of making it a book at the initial stage.

Who has been your inspiration?

All my friends and family, in particular.

Do you write stories?

I do sometimes. "My book, "Walking with Baba, the Mystic" a non- fiction on experiences in life, is about to be published shortly.

What were the struggles you faced during the journey of this book?

No struggle as such. Finding time from busy official schedule was a challenge.

How do you feel when you write?

When I write or compose a poem I feel fully relaxed without any tension of the outer world. I feel like a medium through which someone else is expressing something. I don't feel as if I am doing anything. So, I don't claim as if I have done anything, even afterwards. All the poems don't belong to me, in true sense.

What are your other hobbies?

Reading books of all types, singing and listening to music are some of the other hobbies ..

How supportive were your family?

I have a most supportive family consisting of my wife Namita, son Vinayak and daughter Shreya. They are my best critics as well as motivators.

How was your publishing journey with blue rose publishers?

It is smooth.

When can we expect your next book?

Shortly, may be in two months.
