AUTHOR INTERVIEW
Interview with Saad Delhvi the author of "7 months – Sailing in two boats leave you with none"
Greetings Sir.. Hope you are doing good. Let me begin the interview with the first question.
Can you tell us about yourself?
I'd really describe myself as a person with a versatile skill-set, a lot of integrity and a willingness to go the extra mile for my beloved. I'm kinda introvert and rather do more listening than talking.
When did you first start writing?
Well, I was in my 11th standard, when I first startedwriting.
Do you remember what you wrote first?
Yeah. I do.
If yes, can you kindly share with us?
Well, 7 Months was apparently my first project that I started working with.
How did you get interested in writing?
Sometimes that blank page can feel daunting. Perhaps, I was never into writing. I just feel it, anytime and anywhere. Once that feeling sinks in, I go to my table right away and turn on my desktop and wait for the 'flow'. I can write for 10 hours straight, unmindful of the time.
Who are your favourite authors? Why?
I admire anyone who can see a novel through, from beginning to end, without falling to pieces.
Tell us about your book.
The novel is a story of a boy who fall in love with a girl despite the disparity of their personalities. It illustrates a boy's certainty in love, how he grow deep in love at such a young age, whereas for other it is the other way around. Often times people avoid emotional intimacy, using sex to buffer up their vulnerability. The story also displays the social barriers hardships that occurs being in a relationship in our country. Truth is stranger than fiction.
What is the purpose of writing this book?
Love itself is something so abstract. You never know that you could fall in deeply love with someone in such a short period of time. Being strong enough to let go and wise enough to wait for what you deserve.
Who has been your inspiration?
I always find these kind of questions really hard! Nothing in particular and everything at once.
What were the struggles you faced during the journey of this book?
That's a difficult question. It's almost more like a compulsion at this point, one that's hard to explain given how frustrating writing can be.
Writing can make you want to tear your hair out, having said that, it also contains these sublime moments when you've captured exactly what you meant to capture, when you've expressed your truth and you've expressed it perfectly. Those moments are fleeting, but they're so intense that once you've had one, there's nothing like it. You're hooked. You'll spend an insane amount of time trying to make it happen again.
What was the reaction of the main protagonists when you said you are going to write about them?
Well, frankly I don't know that whether she is aware about this or not but I hope this book reaches to her.
How do you feel when you write?
Sort of surreal. Everyone who wants to be a writer imagines the day they'll finally hold their finished book in their hands. Part of you believes it will never happen. So when that day finally arrives it's a strange feeling.
What are your other hobbies?
I'm much into Cricket but I love watching Soccer. I'm quite good in playing guitar as well.
How supportive were your family?
Having supportive parents is a wonderful gift. They cannot support everything you want to do and whether they are right or wrong most parents are trying their hardest to make sure you grow to be your best.
How was your publishing journey with blue rose publishers?
I was extremely lucky. Earlier authors use to get rejected for silly reasons, it's brutal and soul dispiriting. But companies like Blue Rose made it so much easier. Blue Rose Publishers has been a source of endless help, advice, support, and encouragement. They negotiates all of my book deals, and I don't know what I'd do without him. Much appreciated!
When can we expect your next book?
Currently, I'm working on a project which is going well, now I'm in a better frame of mind and hopefully in the forthcoming year I'll drop my new novel.
Where can readers find your other writings?
The book "7 Months" is my first project and I'm really happy and excited to have y'all give it a read.
Where can readers connect to you?
I'm active in all my social media handles and I would love to connect with my readers.
Few words you would like to say to your readers.
The book will give you a serious of flashback. Reminiscing you about the old school days when everything used to be simple and the first love memories.
Finally, few words of advice for the budding writers?
Learn how to steel yourself for criticism and rejection. Try not to turn it into something personal. It's not easy, but it will make your life better if you can. Live. Engage with the world.
Thank you for your time ... All the best for your future endeavors..
