DON'T STOP AND DON'T FALL
AUTHOR INTERVIEW
Tell about yourself, Alice.
I am currently a first year student pursuing political science hons. Apart from being a student I am a blogger, I run my instagram page popularly known as @wandering_quotes, along with that I run a WordPress blog named - The fallen future.
I have published two books, my debut novel was a Kindle version named -The last Board exam.
And my second book is published with the Blue Rose Publishers named - Longer Than forever.
Can you tell us abt your first book?
My first book came out in April, same year. The book was a non fictional piece of work. The book mainly dealt with the outburst, pressures, insecurities and inner fears that a youth encounters while appearing for the boards. The book was written under a first person perspective that was entirely mine.
When did you start writing?
I started writing while I was still in the last academic year of my school.
Blogging has undoubtedly played a critical role in my writing career.
Initially I began giving proses and poems to some of the renowned pages and blogs of social media. Gradually I came up with my own blog. That's how writing played it's cards in.
Who or what was your inspiration?
One thing that has remained constant in my literary journey from being a vulnerable wanderer to having a book under my name is - Inspiration and fascination.
I have always been immensely inspired by authors like Sylvia Day. Not because of the stardom she has been flying through since years, but because of the captivating power she has in her words.
If not anything, I wish someday I'd be able to reflect her captivating power.
Which is your favorite book?
My favorite book still remains "Captivated by you" by Sylvia Day. It was published three years back in 2014. But, the way Sylvia portrays surrender and pain, the way she depicts sheer pleasure even in the darkest of scenes in serene and surreal.
Even after 10 years down the line I'll still pick her "Captivated by You" anyday.
If you were given a chance to live a fictional character which would you choose?
You know that these characters won't judge you or force their opinions on you and that's what makes the whole concept of emulating them all the more fascinating.
If ever got a chance I would definitely choose to outlined the existence of one of my own book's "Longer than Forever" character "Chahek" because the way I have portrayed Chahek is the way I dream to live. Free from the bounds and obligations, in her own way.
Beautiful..
Is your book "longer than forever" purely fictional or inspired from real life?
That's entirely fictional. Apart from the mainstream traits the character "Chahek" portrays. The female protagonist in the story is actually inspired from a friend of mine. Having said that, the story still remains entirely fictional.
How do you feel when you write?
I have always been a stern believer that when we write down we always tend to portray the world we crave to live in, the situations we ache to go through.
Writing has always been an escape from the terrifying realities, from the eternal chaos around. Writing has always remained an eternal peace to me, no matter what the situation is. So, yes. Writing is a therapy that keeps me alive in a world as messed up as ours.
In 10 years from no, where do you see yourself in writing field?
In the coming next 10 Years, I just wish to write a book that I feel proud to be associated with. A book that carries not just a part of me, but a whole.
If not anything, I wish to be an established author, where I just have to wake up in the morning and write, write and write.
What are your other hobbies?
Apart from being into writing, I am good at playing volleyball and basketball, too. I love travelling to the long lost places. I am good at pampering puppies, although I still don't own one.
Who is your role model?
Okay! Now, this might sound a bit cliche, but my role model is my mom.
Out of the million people that I'd have the option to be like, I'll still choose my mom as a future reflection of my own self. The kind of compassion and selfless love she carries for everyone is the kind of human I crave to become.
How supportive were your family when you told about your idea of publishing?
To be honest, I feel elated about the support they've given me at every possible turn and every possible decision I've taken, so far.
Not once did they portray that insecurity of "What if it doesn't work?" and that's what made me go miles. The best thing any dreamer could ever ask for is "a supportive family" and I am really glad to have one.
Your views on friendship?
Friendship is the foremost step in creating a good human. Taking about myself, my best friend is the reason for the majority of success I've been a part of. Arpita is the only person who makes me go a million steps when I don't have the courage to take even one. She is the sole reason behind all great things that are happening.
What is love according to you?
Love is of course another building stone that has ones back in all the situations.
When can we expect your next book?
The next book is going to be the sequel of the current book. It will be a dark thriller Romance. I have already started writing the next book. It will be out in the stores probably sometime between March and April.
What do you wish to say to your readers?
One message that I would like to give to my readers is, "Don't stop finding yourselves. You might get lost, you might feel like giving up. But don't. Because you? Are an epitome of possibilities and positivities. Hold on. Explore. Find yourself. And off course, keep reading my books."
Do you prefer self publishing or traditional publishing? Why?
I prefer traditional publishing. Reason being, we writers aren't perfect. We tend to make mistakes, a lot of them. In traditional publishing our work gets an experienced vision, a vision that improves the raw content. No doubt, traditional publishing is more preferred over self publishing
Do you write poetries too?
Yes, I started my writings with poetry. Poetry has always played a key role in improving my writing and penning down my thoughts in a way more clear.
In fact my new book "Longer than forever" has diary entries written from the protagonist's view. Those diary entries are poems.
Where can readers find your other works?
As mentioned earlier, I am a blogger. The readers can anytime get in touch with me through my instagram blog "@wandering_quotes_" the best place apart from my books where the readers can read my work is this blog.
Finally few words of advice to budding writers?
The only advice I would have to come up for the budding authors is - Don't stop and don't fall into the pit of delaying. We tend to stop writing after our first book. We tend to wait for the book to get published, hit the stores, for people to read it. And that is where we hinder our growth.
