Interview with Puneet Singh, the author of "As they spoke to me"

Greetings Sir..

Hope you are doing good. Let me begin the interview.

Can you tell us about yourself?

Ans: My name is Puneet Singh and I live in a small town of Punjab. I am a Wiccan, psychic and tarot card Reader even though I have completed my bachelors in biotechnology but English literature has always been very close to mind and heart. I am a kathak dancer and performer and now I have also become a writer. I have been a keen observer of life. With the vision I have, I feel, I look into the depth of every emotion within, every situation around and every happening that occurs among our lives.

When did you first start writing?

Ans:I have been a blogger for almost 7 years, but then in 2015 my mother advised me to write a book. It's then when my journey of writing my book "As they spoke to me" began.

Do you remember what you wrote first?

Ans: Since childhood I have this habit of writing diary, So I do not remember what first I wrote for the book because in my book there are 9 chapters based on what I had written in my diaries while experiencing the incidents.

If yes, can you kindly share with us?

Ans: I have always been interested in writing short stories, Most of my work is yet to be published that I wrote in my old journals.

How did you get interested in writing?

Ans: For me, Writing is an art to make people look through your perspective with the help of words. Just like "kathak" is a language of dance to express stories, in the same way, writing is expressing what you see and what you feel, through the choice of words. I am an introvert, so the pen and a diary have always been my best friends to share my thoughts. I found writing best way to preserve all my moments safely. Whenever I have to look into years that have passed, I pick up my journals and read. This is how writing fascinated me.

Who are your favourite authors? Why?

Ans: I have great interest in philosophy.

My favourtie Authors are ,Goswami Tulidas, Plato,Kahlil Gibran,Rabindranath Tagore, Arundhati Roy and Ruskin Bond.

They have written the truth of their own, they have looked into the depth of every situation. The poetry and the writings are so beautifully presented. One must have a free wisdom and liberal mind to read and comprehend their writings.

Tell us about your book, sir.

Ans: My Book, "As they Spoke to me" is a collection of short stories based on reality. It's the book that explains the mysticism behind the happenings which are considered supernatural. Wicca, Witchcraft and Spirits are considered something very unnatural and something to laugh on, but these subjects have been the part of our ancient Culture. The book explains how spirits and the mystical energies surround us and struggle to make us feel their presence. In this book I have explained my journey as a Wiccan. The book has certain elements of philosophy. These short Stories explain about the concepts of spirits and the spirit worlds. It's my research, one is not forced to believe but to keep the minds open enough to think and wonder.

What is the purpose of writing this book?

Ans: The only purpose of this book is to make people aware that there exists spirits and if one has the ability to connect with them, one can easily know what they are trying to say.

This subject has deep roots in our Indian Cultures and the concepts of spirits are best explained in our scriptures but it is very sad to see that our own people are considering this knowledge as a taboo.

Through this book I want to make people aware of living life as a celebration. As Goswami tulsidas has written in Raam Charit Manas, in uttar Kaand, Lord Ram Says,

"ehi tan kar fal bishya na bhai |

Swargayu Swaplyu ant dukhdyi ||

He says that life is not all about completing that tasks that the society expects. Doing karma and waiting for the fruit, loving and hating, raising kids and then expecting from them to get settled and live as we all have lived. He says life is not all about this, we are missing to keep the bliss alive within us, we are missing the purpose of life, which is to celebrate our existence.

Through this book I have tried to give a perspective, I would say a Wiccan Perspective to look into the situations and decide how to be in it and play the game.

Is this your debut book?

Yes. This is my first book.

If no, can you tell us about your previous works?

Is this a fiction or inspired from real life?

This is a non-fiction book. Every character in this book is a real person, some have left their bodies and some are still completing their life span on earth among us.

When did you first discover that you had the ability to connect to spirit world?

Ans: the first incident that I have also mentioned in the third chapter of the book, happened when I was about 5 or 6 years old. After that at the age of 12 I realized that the things that I see or feel are not my imaginations but realities.

How was your first experience?

Ans: For me everything has always been very normal, I have never looked at mysticism as something a taboo, I believe, It is we who make the things look so funny and laugh upon without knowing the realities. My whole life till now has been a wonderful experience. I dance on the rhythm of life. I adorn myself with the music. I write what I see and feel.

What was your first thoughts when get to know this?

Ans:I am so grateful to the one who has created all this, and gifted me with the talents. It's boon that I believe one should be proud of. Today when I look at world and people who come to me for healings or tarot readings, I see that they cannot look into themselves and the gifts they are blessed with, they all are running after each other. I am grateful to my teachers for making me believe and see my inner talents and be confident even when the whole world is not with you. It's the power of truth.

Can you tell us more about this spirit world and its communication with the humans?

Ans: the Spirit world is not away from us, all we need is the wisdom, the power of clairvoyance to see and feel it. Spirits communicate with us by influencing our thoughts. Sometimes It happens, that when we enter a new place we get thoughts which are not ours, but then we think and wonder that why are we thinking about it? This is how spirits make us feel or make us know their presence. Ofcourse there are so many other ways too, that I have explained in the book. But this is something very common.

What is your passion?

My passion has always been to celebrate my existence by embracing my inner talents, the beauty, and the life. Passion is something that gives a meaning to life. I love to explore without coming to a conclusion, because conclusion Puts an end to the journey. Our shastras say that at the end, all the saints and those who spoke about the ultimate power and universe said "Neti" and became Silent. There is mountain behind every mountain, there is cloud behind every cloud, just like universe has no end, so My journey or witnessing and experiencing has no end.

How do you feel when you write?

Ans: I believe in the concept of, "mindlessness" explained very beautifully by Osho in his books, when we allow the universe to use our body and mind, it brings out something very new, creative and true. When People ask me if I had to do a lot of hardwork for the book, to them I reply, It took no hard work, All I did was, I allowed myself to explore and enjoy the process of writing. It took three years to complete this book, I did not fix any time limits, but worked on it slowly and gradually, enjoying the process. Whenever I write, I listen to the Music, Light candles and have my tea or coffee, This makes my work of writing a sacred Ritual.

What are your other hobbies?

My hobbies are Dancing ( kathak), playing musical Instruments, Reading books, Yoga, travelling, teaching and exploring different art forms.

How was your publishing journey with blue rose publishers?

It has been a very amazing journey, I would like to thank bluerose Publishers for being very efficient. The work was done without delays. The book quality is excellent. The designing part has met all my expectations.

When can we expect your next book?

I am working on the second book, but then again as I said before, I do not fix time limits, It will happen when it is destined.

Few words you would like to say to your readers.

Ans: Read it slowly, take your time to think and understand it. Do not expect, thrill and horror as you have seen in the horror movies. Read it with free minds, daring will and passionate heart.

Finally, few words of advice for the budding writers?

Ans: To all the new writers, I would advise, today, the world has forgotten to look into the depth, everything has become so superficial. Do not run for the fame, do it for yourself, because when you express your realities, it will remain forever in this world, but if you will follow the trends, it will disappear soon. Writer has to be a daring soul, yet very sensitive to feel every emotion. Do not forget your roots. If You are an Indian, to you I advise, Indian Culture has diversity, let us preserve this diversity and culture.
