SHINE ON DAIZY STAR
This was suchhhhhh a boring book, oh my fuck.
It was written for younger readers so obviously isn't intended for my age, but shut up, I can enjoy children's books too.
Nothing really happened. There wasn't any real problem that Daizy had to face. It was all very sugary sweet and sickening and just dull.
Daizy is ten years old, younger than most CC protagonists. She doesn't have a love interest but I was waiting for it because it was clearly about to be set up between her and this Ethan kid until Cathy changed her mind.
There is just one slightly relatable maybe interesting thing about Daizy and that's that she is afraid of water and swimming.
Her dad has this stupid fucking plan to sail around the world, and literally just comes home after quitting his job and announces it to his wife and kids, like......hello? How selfish and delusional can you get past expecting your wife and three children to just quit their jobs, leave school, abandon everyone and everything else and just come sailing with you?
Anyway it doesn't work out yay.
There is nothing actually wrong with this book it's just so fucking dull. If I had kids I would want them to read something properly stimulating and interesting, something suitable for their age yet educating them about the world.
Cathy could have written about any number of serious topics for kids, like problems with friends, abuse, divorce, addiction, neglect, etc. Instead she choose to write a dull sugary sweet forgettable book that I will forget the plot of in a week.
Rating: 0/5 stars, because it's so bland it deserves nothing.
