Nico had a rough past. He grew up in Italy with his mother and sister. Then, his father showed up, and his mother was killed. His father took him and his sister Bianca to the Lotus Hotel and Caisno, where he promised they would be safe. They lived there for 30 years, not aging a bit. When they came out, everything had changed.

And all the cool kids did their own thing.
I was on the outside, always looking in.
Yeah, I was there but I wasn't,
They never really cared if I wasn't.

Bianca and him were put in a boarding school by their sister, where he and Bianca met Percy Jackson. They found out they were demigods, and that their father was Hades, the Lord of the Underworld, God of the Dead. Then Bianca went and became a Hunter of Artemis, leaving Nico. She then went on a quest with Thalia, Grover, Zoë, and Percy, in which she died saving the others.

And then there was the Titan War, after which Nico left Camp Half Blood, in a way. He only visited once in a while. Hades then showed him Camp Jupiter, and he met his half sister Hazel. He took her to Camp Jupiter, and continued keeping the camps a secret from each other. He went to look for the Doors of Death, which in doing he fell into Tartarus. He came out alive, but he was not the same.

He was kept prisoner by Otis and Ephailtes in a bronze jar, where he almost died. He then had to shadow travel Reyna and Coach Hedge back to New York from Rome, with a 40-foot tall Athena Parthenos strapped to his back. When he got them to New York, the Giant War was occurring, in which he immediately jumped into battle. And then he met Will.

Then I saw your face, your forgiving eyes.

Will cared for him. He immediately noticed what terrible condition Nico was in, with him getting barely and food and even less sleep. Will made him eat and rest up. He quickly became his personal doctor, making Nico go to the infirmary once a week for a check up.

Will hung around Nico, and he wasn't scared of him in the slightest. Unlike the other campers, who were terrified of Nico's abilities, Will though he was super sweet and adorable. As he said, "Nico is all sunshine on the inside." Will's constant positivity got annoying at times, but it helped Nico. He needed to hear good things, loving things, caring things. Nico needed to be told everything was alright. Tartarus had scarred him. Will understood. He was always there for Nico, no matter what.

Nico needed Will. He kept him grounded. Without him, Nico wouldn't have a reason to live. He was the reason Nico woke up in the morning. The only reason Nico got out of bed in the morning is because he knew that if he didn't he wouldn't get to see Will.

Nico walked up to Will. He was really nervous. His hand fidgeted in his pocket. "Hey Will."
"Hey Neeks." Will replied. He turned to Nico. "What's up?"
"Can you walk with me?" Nico requested.
"Sure."
They walked together to the pavilion.

Nico turned to face Will. "I love you, you know."
Will smiled. He kissed Nico. "Of course. And I love you too, Death Boy."
Nico's hand fidgeted more in his pocket. He was increasingly growing more anxious.

Nico pulled out a black velvet box. He got down on one knee.
"Nico..." Will said.
"I love you, Will Solace." Nico said. "You accepted me when no one else did. You are always there for me, no matter what. You care so much for my health and well being. You always support me. You love me, and you care for me no matter what I do. I love you, William Solace. Will you marry me?"

Nico opened the box. Inside was a wedding ring. It was black with a yellow stripe running through the middle, and two jewels were inlaid. It was simple, but wonderful.
Will was tearing up. He smiled, and to Nico, it seemed as if the world exploded in fireworks.
"Yes!" Will said. Nico stood up and gave Will the ring. When they kissed, the world seemed to fall away, and they were the only two people on Earth, and the only person that mattered was the one right in front of them.
