37~ The Funeral
Harry
Tomorrow, the funeral took place. He was wrapped in a a seagreen shroud that the Aphrodite girls volunteered to make. Since the daughters of love made it, it was seagreen with a trident in the middle but around the border, there were pictures. Pictures of mostly Percy and Annabeth but some with the seven and the rest of his friends and family and even Ron, Ginny, Hermione, Lisa and I were there in some.
Sally and Paul, Percy's mother and step father were here at the funeral too. They had allowed Paul to come inside. The gods were here as well. Poseidon was crying just as Sally and Paul were.
To say that it was a sad moment would be an understatement. No one spoke. Some were silently crying. Then Annabeth walked up the front and made her speech. The whole time she was speaking, tears ran down her face. She wasn't looking at the audience though, she was staring at a spot behind the audience as if she was expecting someone to appear there.
"He was more than my boyfriend. He was my best friend, and this may sound really cheesy but, he was my other half. He died to stop the war. Kronos and he made a deal. Kronos told him that he would call off the war and that he won't harm anyone if Percy let's Kronos kill him. So being the loyal, selfless seaweed brain he was...he- he did." Annabeth said.
She paused, still staring fixatedly at a spot behind all the seats. "Years ago...when we were 15, he dissapeared for two weeks. Everyone thought he was dead but I had hope. But slowly, that hope started to dissapear. We made a burial shroud and prepared to burn it. As his best friend, I had to give a speech. As I stood at the front talking, I saw a mess of black hair and those seagreen eyes. He came back that time. He came back..."
She stopped again then continued with a broken voice. "The greek myth, Pandora's box. It held lots of things that now exist today. War...but in that story, there was also hope. Which means that there is hope in everything. What ever happens, hope will still be there. But now...to me, it's like all hope dissapeared from the world. But maybe...just maybe...there'd be a knock on the door. Outside the door...maybe he'll be there...maybe I'll see my seaweed brain again. Percy, if you're out there, we love you. Come back, please."
She whispered the next part but I could make it out. "I love you. I need you."
Then she broke down crying. "I'm sorry. " She appologised before running off into the woods. Thalia immediately got up to follow her but oiper pulled her down. "Give her sometime alone, Thals."
Later on in the funeral, I saw Nico turn around in his seat and looked behind him as if he sensed someone there. When he turned around, he gave a gasp but then shook his head and turned back around as if what he saw was simply his imagination.
Annabeth didn't come back in time for the burning of the shroud. She wasn't there when the funeral finished either.
Not for some time did she come back...
