21~I knock some sense into a kid

Percy

I felt like someone had teared away a part of me leaving a dark, hopeless, gaping hole in its place. Last night, after I had gone up to the dormitory, I'd heard Thalia's sobs echoing through the empty Common Room. I felt guilty to make her cry like that but honestly, all I wanted to do right now was to curl up in a ball and cry my eyes out. After a night full of nightmares I was not prepared for a double potions lesson to start off the week with the 'tamed' hydra (A.K.A Professor Belle-more).

Unfortunately, life was just plain sad.

"Now children, tragic things have been occurring including the death of a fellow student." Professor Belle-more said, sounding dramatic. The class erupted in gasps. Now, everyone would be talking about the tragic death of Annabeth Chase.

"Annabeth Chase was a great student. Always ugly, stupid and weak. She is dead now for the greater good for us all. I'm sure she-" professor Belle-more continued.

Anger bubbled inside of me. She wasn't dead. She wasn't weak. Anything but weak. Thalia put a hand on my shoulder, telling me silently not to do anything.

I tried.

It didn't work out so well...

Let's just say, I ended up on my feet shouting at the 'teacher'.

"She isn't dead!" I shouted. "She isn't weak either. I think you know what I am capable of. I defeated Kronos and Gaia."

For a second fear flashed across her face then Professor Belle-more stared at me grim faced.

"Aren't you optimistic." She said. "Here to break it to you, honey but she's dead. Gone. So you'd better shut it and get to work on making this potion. Oh, and by the way hon, add another hour to you detention today."

Let's go back a few day now. Remember how we first met the Wicked Witch of the West? Remember that day she gave us all detention for no reason. Forgot that? Yeah, me too.

Thalia pulled me back down onto my seat and set to work on her potion.

"Thalia-" I started.

"Percy." She said, cutting me off. "As much as I hate her, she is a teacher and you could end up expelled. Now get to work on your mandrake roots." She added softly.

I got my things out of my bag and started on my potion.

A few minutes later, as I was chopping up my mandrake roots, the occupants on the table next to ours caught my attention. Pansy Parkinson was talking about Annabeth.

"She deserved what she got." Pansy was saying. "I hope the stupid creature is dead now."

That was when I lost it.

I pinned Pansy Parkinson to the wall with my arm.

"Don't you dare say anything like that again. Got it?" I whispered menacingly.

The whole class was watching us now.

"What do you think you're going to do?" Pansy asked.

"I can do a lot of things you won't believe." I answered her.

"Yeah right. I don't think so, wimp!" She said, raising her voice.

"Think again, Pansy Parkinson." I said, dropping my voice. "Don't be impulsive. It may end fatally."

I unpinned her from the wall and let her drop to the floor. It wasn't as if I'd actually do anything to her, but hey, she doesn't need to know that.

"Mr Jackson, add another hour to your detention today." Professor Belle-more said.

Oh, well. It was totally worth it.
