11~Rock-cakes for Tea and Nightmares

Harry

"Ah, there ya are! I've bin waitin' for ya." Hagrid said. "Mind introducing me ter yer friends, Percy?"

"This is Annabeth," Percy said guess turning towards Annabeth. ",And this is Thalia. Guys, this is Hagrid."

Annabetha and Thalia politely shook Hagrid's hand, trying not to wince as he shook it.

"Well then c'mon in." Hagrid said, pushing us all in through the door to the hut.

We went inside and sat down at the small round table. Hagrid offered us some rock-cakes and we each took one. Percy, unaware that the rock-cakes taste like literal rocks when Hagrid cooks them, took several and bit into one with great difficulty.

"Serves you right for being greedy, seaweed Brain." Annabeth whispered as Hagrid went to make some tea. "I wasn't being greedy!" Percy protested.

"Here yer all are." Hagrid said, coming back and sliding a cup full of tea for each of us.

"Now how's yer year so far, eh?" He asked.

"Not bad except for Professor Belle-more." I said.

"Yeah, she was calling Annabeth lame insults like ugly and hideous. Pfft! As if." Percy scoffed.

"Perce, shut up." Annabeth said but a smile lingered on her lips.

The rest of afternoon passed by with us telling Hagrid what happened and with him offering us more rock-cakes. Finally as the sky seemed to darken, we left for the castle again.

We walked through the deserted corridors and entered the Gryffindor house. Ron, Hermione, Ginny and I decided to go and sleep while Percy, Annabeth and Thalia stayed behind. I was, again, at the foot of the stairs when I heard them talking.

"No, We'll Iris Massage him tomorrow." Percy was saying.

"Okay then. I can't wait to see the rest of the seven again." Annabeth said.

They talked a bit more about stuff I didn't catch then I heard Thalia walking back to her dormitory. Annabeth and Percy were now whispering to each other and then it went silent. I descended the steps as quietly as I could and found them sleeping right there on the sofa they were sitting on. Annabeth's head was leaning on Percy's shoulder and the latter had his arm around her. They both looked so at peace. Every other time, they always wore this guarded mask over there faces. Not literally, but you know.

I went back up to my dormitory again and went to bed, hoping to get a good night's rest.

The scream woke me up at 1am. It was coming from the common room where Percy and Annabeth were. I jumped out of bed and rushed down the stairs, aware of Ron right behind me. I was surprised at how many people were woken up by that really loud scream. It was just Hermione, Ginny, Thalia, Rona and I. Percy was crouched beside the sofa and Annabeth was muttering things and squirming around in the sofa.

"Somebody know of a spell that would keep the rest of the house from hearing what's going on?" Percy asked urgently, looking around at us expectantly.

"Muffliato." I casted just as Annabeth screamed loudly.

"PERCY!"

"I'm right here, Annabeth." Percy whispered gently to her, taking her hand in his. "It's just a nightmare."

"NO, NO, DON'T! DONT!" Annabeth wailed, tears pouring out of her eyes.

"Beth, it's alright. She's just toying with your mind. Think of happy memories." Percy said, soothingly.

"LEAVE THEM ALONE!" She screamed and a fleeting image do a weak Dumbledore writhing on the ground of dimly lit cavern entered my mind.

"Remember when I first came to camp? You told me I drool in my sleep." Percy continued. I wanted to tell the guy that she won't be able to hear him but thought better of it and stayed quiet.

"NO, YOU MONSTER! LEAVE HIM ALONE!" Annabeth screamed.

If not for the muffliato charm, the whole castle would be here by now.

"PERCY!" Annabeth sobbed.

"And the second year I was there, the chariot race and Thalia?" Percy said.

"No! No..." Annabeth said tears welling her eyes but she was quieter now.

"The third year, the dance at the top of the Empire State Building."

"Percy?" Annabeth whispered, her eyes still closed.

"Then the Battle of the Labyrinth? Remember Daedalus and Rachel covered in glitter, posing as a statue. She hit Kronos with a blue hair brush..." Percy was saying.

Annabeth's screams died down to mere sobs now.

"And then the underwater bubble at the bottom of the canoe lake?" Percy said just as Annabeth's eyes flitted open. Her eyes looked fragile and broken and not it's usual stormy grey.

"Percy?" She whispered.

"Yes, Wise Girl. It's me." Percy said softly.

Annabeth sat up and engulfed Percy in a hug, the two of them oblivious to their surroundings. Unaware of their friends watching.

Percy was stroking Annabeth's hair lovingly and Annabeth was just holding on to him tightly, as she never wanted to let go.

Thalia herded us all away from the couple and into the boys dormitory since Ron and I won't be able to go to the girls dormitory.

"What in Melin's name just happened?" Ron asked.

"They both have PTSD." Thalia said, sitting on the edge of my bed and talking in a low voice so as not to wake up Neville, Seamus and Dean.

"PTSD? How'd they get that?" Ron asked, voicing out the question that was In all our minds. What could've happened that would've caused them to have PTSD?

"They- They went through some really hard stuff together." Thalia answered, looking at her feet.

"Are they going to be okay?" Hermione asked her worriedly.

"Oh, yeah. They'll be fine. You know, PTSD. Nightmares nearly every day, terrible flashbacks, they'll be perfectly fine." Thalia said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. Then she buried her head in her hands and said, "I'm sorry. I know you asked because you were worried. It's just- ugh! They don't deserve this."

Ginny sat beside her and put an arm around her for comfort. "Hey, it's alright. They'll make it through. I know I only knew them for a day or two, but already, I can tell that they are strong people."

Thalia looked at her gratefully. "Besides," Ron added. "I bet Madam Pomfrey will be able to fix that in a jiffy."

"No," Thalia said, shaking her head. "What they have is something not even the god of medicine and healing would be able to heal."

Just then the door creaked open and two people walked in. A tall boy with black hair and a girl with curly blonde hair and broken, stormy grey eyes. Percy's arm was around Annabeth protectively. He too had that broken look in his eyes.

The minute Hermione saw them, she launched herself at Annabeth, who smile weakly and hugged her back.

Then she sat next to Percy on his bed.

"Well, we should get to sleep." Ginny said, as she and Hermione left our dorm.

"Beth, you need to sleep too." Percy told her quietly, stroking her hair.

Annabeth shook her head. "No. I might have more nightmares."

"Annabeth-"

"Percy, I don't want to." Annabeth said firmly cutting off Percy's protest.

Percy sighed and looked at Thalia expectantly.

"Come on, Annie. Let's go to sleep." Thalia said, getting up and guiding Annabeth out the door and back to the girl's dormitory.

Percy slumped back onto his bed, lying spread eagle.

"Gods, I hate it, seeing her this way." He whispered, more to himself than to us.

Ron and I said nothing and got back onto bed. I closed my eyes in hope of falling asleep but the my mind just kept flying back to what happened today.
