I actually got rich from my gambling. I won every single time and even the greatest gamblers was beaten because of me.
Years have passed and I'm now twenty one. I still lived at Annie's place since she didn't bother if I lived there as long as I paid for my own ass. I finished school and now I'm a pediatrician. Lol, I told ya I was never gonna be an engineer.
Yup, I give medicines to kids that'll bring them back to their health. Also, I've matured but I still give in to my impulses when it's all about gambling.
I got up from bed and stretched. I opened my window to let the fresh air invade my room.
So far, nothing terrible has happened to me. Those demons didn't see me again. I didn't call them or text them anymore. I changed all my numbers and got rid of my old ones.
In short, everything we had was fading. It was like my memories were drawn on the chalkboard but was erased when a teacher came inside the room and erased it. The only things left were the faint smudges of chalk that reminded me that something was there. Used to be there.
I undressed, throwing my pajamas aside and went to the bath.
So far, my life is running well. I've opposed the best gamblers in the country but the others still said that I didn't beat all the best ones yet.
There's still someone standing. Her alias sounds cringey to me but she's known as...
The Red Queen.
And now, cue some intense cringing from your boy Mikasa.
I don't know why she called herself The Red Queen but gambling folks told me that she achieved that title because she gambles with her life. It was either she gets killed or her opponents get killed. Sounds like a more brutal version of Jabami Yumeko.
She's my goal. My goal is to defeat her. I've been searching for her for years and I think tonight, I shall slay her. But first, I gotta go to work.
I dried my hair and changed. I went down the stairs and sat on the dining table.
Martha walked towards the table with trays on her hands. She placed a tray in front of Annie and the other one in front of me.
"Breakfast for today is Chicken Cordon Bleu." She stated, standing behind Annie. "I hope you enjoy it."
"Thanks, Martha." I smiled and she smiled back at me.
Annie didn't even bother to thank Martha, she was busy wolfing down her chicken.
Martha actually warmed up to me all over the years. She now addressed me as Mikasa not Guest Mikasa which was great because Guest isn't part of my name.
I finished my breakfast and went to brush my teeth. I then went to the parking lot and drove my black car. Yeah, I didn't get my scooter back. I was too scared to take it back from the demons.
Also, I've changed my look and my name so that people who knew me wouldn't discover me again. I dyed(but its washable so I had to dye my hair everyday.) my hair red and put on brown contacts. I changed my name to Carissa Bachman.
How it went to that? I don't know.
Only Annie and Martha knew I was Mikasa Ackerman. Everyone else knew me as Carissa Bachman.
I parked my vehicle on the parking lot and went out and locked my car. I walked briskly, making my heels clack to the ground erratically.
I opened the glass door by pulling and when I entered the clinic, I was greeted by the cold breeze of the air conditioner and my colleagues.
"Good morning, Doctor Bachman." My assistant, Hitch Dreyse greeted. She sat behind her desk while tapping on her phone.
"Morning, Hitch." I replied as I pulled my lab coat on. "What's up with your phone?"
"Um..." She said softly. "Valkyrie Connect."
"I see." I said, not knowing what Valkyrie Connect was. You see, my assistant Hitch is a super gamer so I guess Valkyrie Connect is a game?
I walked to my office to find several people waiting. Some looked relieved when they saw me walking towards them.
"Good morning people," I greeted them,"Sorry for the wait!" I added a nervous laugh and scratched my head. Carissa Bachman is a happy-go-lucky person so I had to act a bit weirder than Mikasa.
"Nah, its alright Doctor." A familiar voice said. "We just wished to be the first on the line that's why we're early."
"Oh. Yeah." I said, gathering my thoughts. That voice sounded too familiar, it was eerie. Who was that voice again?
I went in my office and waited for the first person in line to get in.
It was Connie.
I gulped, praying he wouldn't recognize me. Of course, he wouldn't recognize me since he's an idiot.
Wait. My brain's voice rang through my mind. Who's Connie gonna bring here? His kid? Isn't it too early to have kids? And besides, Connie's not the type that'll make kids in teenage years.
I gripped my pen, hoping Connie didn't hoe around at such a young age.
"Hello, Doctor." Connie addressed me, holding on to a young boy, probably ten. "My brother here, Martin is on fever for five days already. I got so worried thinking maybe its dengue but I think its flu since he's coughing and suffering a cold. I don't really know since I'm no doctor."
I looked at Martin, Connie's little brother. I tapped my pen on a empty prescription paper. I turned to little Martin,"So are just experiencing coughs, colds, fever, and body pain?"
"Yeah." He said with a small voice.
"Hm, okay." I stood, walking towards the table that held medicines that I sell. I picked one specifically for treating flu. I handed it over to Connie. "Just let your little brother take this three times a day after meals."
"Okay." Connie beamed, "Thanks, Doctor." He then fished on his pocket, probably for the payment.
I held his hand. "No, its okay. Its free."
He stared at me, his mouth agape.
"What? You can't be serious."
I smiled. "I'm serious. Just accept it."
He smiled in return. "Why though?"
I patted Martin's head and ruffled his hair. "Because you remind me of someone I used to know."
"Oh." Connie blinked. "Your ex?"
I laughed. "No."
And with that, Connie and Martin left. Little Martin gave me a toothy grin and he waved goodbye to me. I grinned and waved back at him.
The door closed and I sighed. I actually felt tears in my eyes. I miss everyone. I miss my friends. I miss Carla, Grisha, Kenny, Levi, Eren, Armin, Sasha, Connie, and Marco. Most importantly, Mother and Father. I miss them so much.
I clutched my scarf as I thought about my memories with them. It was actually fun but too bad, past is past. The past is now unreachable. All I can do is play it in my mind, unable to touch and talk with it.
I let go of my scarf and composed myself as I felt the door creak open. I continued with my work until my duty was off. I walked out of my office, removing my coat and hung it on my arm. I walked past Hitch who was still absorbed with her phone. Guess she's still playing Valkyrie Connect.
"Bye, Hitch." I waved.
She waved back, not meeting my eyes. "Bye. Take care."
"You too."
I walked to my car and revved it to life. I threw my coat on the backseat, letting it lie on the seats.
I have a dirty little secret. Actually, The Red Queen called me last night. She told me that she wanted to have a match with me. What kind of match? I don't know. It could be poker or whatever. Or it could be a game she devised on her own.
I stepped on the gas heavily and sped through the streets. My adrenaline came pumping through my systems, flooding through my veins, empowering me.
"Hell yes!" I said as the red light blinked.
I can't wait to slay her! I can't wait!
I grinned. "The Red Queen's crown will soon be mine." I saw my reflection on the rearview mirror and I looked creepy enough. I was Creepypasta material.
The Red Queen told me that there was this grand casino on the outskirts of this city called Sheena. She wanted to hold our fateful match on Sheena. I'm so damn excited!
My car tires screeched as I parked it recklessly on the lot. I locked the doors, pulled my keys and slipped them in my pocket. I flipped my hair for it was blocking my vision. The cold wind blew my hair, making it dance. A nice and grand entry for a contender, don't you think?
I looked at the sign of the building. It was in a fancy font, laced with multicolored LED lights.
"Sheena, huh?" I crossed my arms. "I'm here, Red Queen."
I sashayed through the doors, looking at the security personnel. Their uniforms were black suits and everything and they wore shades even if it was nighttime.
The doors opened and a brown-haired man walked out. He looks too familiar.
"Ms. Carissa Bachman, right?" He said. "Pleasure to meet you."
His voice...
Eren.
I cleared my throat. "Yes, that's me."
"The Red Queen is waiting for your presence."
I tugged a bit at my dress. I was uncomfortable but I tried my best to hold back my tears.
"If she is the Red Queen, then I'd love to be Alice." I mused and Eren smiled a little at my humor.
I can't believe it. Eren was just standing in front of me, alive and well. His green eyes glittered excitedly under the yellow lights.
How is he alive? Didn't I kill him?
The thoughts in my mind made me nauseous. I wanted to hurl and retch in front of the security but I mustn't. I need to be strong. No, I am always strong.
"Bring me to your Red Queen, gallant knight." I said to Eren in a smug manner.
Okay, I managed to stay smug and proud but my imaginary balls are sweating intensely and shaking.
"As you wish, Alice." Eren bowed lowly and motioned to me to follow him.
I smiled for a bit and followed him, looking around the people gambling. Turns out, they were actually looking at me. Guess my red dress caught attention, teehee.
No, I think because they're in awe for The Red Queen finally found another opponent to squish. Its either that or I squish the Red Queen.
My eyes widened in shock as I saw Levi in the crowd, holding a glass of rhum. His face looked grim as if the Red Queen's match doesn't entertain him.
I must kill the Red Queen. I must.
But something's distracting me. It was Levi. Seeing him shook me. I'm so shaken, I had to bite my lip so that it wouldn't tremble.
Eren led me to an elevator and he ushered me inside. I went in first and he followed me.
"What floor is it then?" I asked Eren, breaking the silence.
"The thirteenth one." He said as he pressed the number thirteen button in the elevator.
Thirteen? How unlucky!
I touched my scarf, hoping that it'll give me strength. Eren seemed to notice this and I withdrew my hand from my scarf.
"Nice scarf." He mumbled. "It matches with your red hair."
"Thanks." I buried my face in my scarf. I froze, realizing that my action would mirror the Mikasa Eren knew. I pulled the scarf away from my face, hoping Eren wouldn't suspect me being Mikasa.
Eren smiled at me. "Good luck in your match."
The door dinged open and he led me to the chamber where the dreaded match will happen.
Two women stood at the doors, standing with pride in their black dresses. The right lady had a name tag that said Traute and the lady at the left had a name tag that said Hannah.
Their lips seemed to twitch to a smile as they opened the doors for me.
Here I go.
I expected the Red Queen to be ugly but dang, I was wrong. She turned to me while smiling. Her blonde hair was flowing and her blue eyes were striking. Her lips were etched into a smile.
She looked awfully familiar.
"Hello, Carissa!" She said in a sweet tone so poisonous it can stop wars. I think. She stood and walked over to my direction.
She was shorter than I expected.
She held my hand and stared at my eyes with her bright and starry ones. "Nice to meet you!" She shook my hand energetically.
"Now, let's begin!"
Okay, guys! The Red Queen's finally here!
Guess who she is. I know its pretty obvious.XD
Hoped you enjoyed it!
