I ate my breakfast quietly with Annie. We were seated on a long table and Annie was seated at the head of the table and I sat in the opposite. We were so far away. I can even barely hear her spoon and fork clattering against the plate. Martha stood beside Annie, like an obsessed dog guarding her master. Martha didn't sit down and eat, she just stood there with her stoic face and soldier-like posture.
Why wasn't she eating? Did she eat already? If she has eaten then what did she eat?
I shook my thoughts away as soon as my brain concluded that Martha ate human flesh for breakfast. I gobbled down my bacon and egg and chugged down my hot chocolate. I dabbed my lips with a napkin to get rid of the excess hot choco sticking to the sides of my lips.
"So, Mikasa." Annie started, her voice sounding far and distant. "Where are you headed now?"
She regarded me with her blue and cold eyes. Martha did the same. Her warm brown eyes froze upon me.
I placed my spoon and fork side by side on my plate. I stared at it, feeling my fingers squeezing my jeans. "I..." I seriously don't know what to do. "Don't know."
Annie chewed on her bacon. She studied me in silence.
"Then go home then. It's as simple as that."
I felt my eyes widen as she said that. How can she say that? She doesn't know what I've been through! How dare she? Where's my gun? Imma gonna bonk this woman on the head and shoot her to my heart's content! I gritted my teeth and pounded my fist on the table. "Shut up." I grumbled.
"What?" Annie leaned closer and put a hand on her ear as if straining to listen what I had said. "Can't hear you."
"I said, shut up!" I growled. "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT I'VE BEEN THROUGH! I DON'T WANNA GO BACK TO THOSE DEMONS! THOSE POSSESSIVE DEMONS! I HATE THEM!"
I was breathing heavily after my sudden outburst. Annie didn't flinch at what I said. She still has that stoic and calm face. Martha still stood beside her but now, Martha looked murderous but I don't care, she's not a threat. I bet she's weak.
There's no way in hell I'll go back to those demons! My mind screamed. No way! No way! No way!
Annie sank back to her chair. "How're they demons, Mikasa? Did they do something to you or was it you who was the victim-playing demon?"
I gasped.
How come she knew that? HOW?
I rose. "You don't know anything." I stared back at her, hoping that I gave her my signature 'I-shalt-get-rid-of-you' stare but she didn't relinquish. She just stared back at me with her blue eyes, unfazed and standing.
"I'm trying to help you." Annie said, emphasizing 'trying to help'.
"As if you can help me!" I shot back.
Annie rolled her eyes. "I don't have time for your bullshit."
She stood from her chair, making the wooden chair creak. She strolled to my direction and grabbed the collar of my shirt, pulling me down to stare back at my eyes. I stared at hers, not wanting to lose. She raised an eyebrow at me, challenging me more.
I could feel her anger travelling from her to my mind. I was so ready to beat her up. I raised my fist but something interrupted me.
"Just kiss already." Martha stated. "Enough with this thrill. It's stupid."
Annie released me from her grip and walked towards Martha and slapped her cheek. The slap made Martha's cheek reddish. Martha just looked at Annie with her resentful eyes but she didn't say a thing nor did a thing.
"Tch." I made this sound the way Levi does it when he's irritated(Are you proud of me, Levi?). I turned and walked away.
Where I was walking to? No idea. Where will I stay after my fuss with Annie? No idea.
I have no ideas. I'm pathetic.
No. You still have ideas. I thought.
An idea? What? WHAT'S THE IDEA?!
I gasped as I went out of the door.
The idea!
I laughed, spreading my arms in the air like how Christ the Redeemer statue would do.
I heaved. "All I have to do is to gamble! Ahahaha!"
Yes! I'll gamble! Gamble, gamble, gamble! Gamble to my heart's content!
I walked past the fountain that depicted Lorelei and I was still laughing my ass off. I crunched some leaves while I thought how to slay my opponents with a royal flush or whatever. My shoulders kept shaking since I still laughed. I never felt such freedom in my life! Forget the birds, I can be free in my own way.
I went out of the gate, not bothering to close it behind me. I'm finally walking my way to my freedom. I am free.
I walked to the nearest street and rode on a bus. I looked around as the bus went on, straining my eyes to search for any establishment that proposes any form of gambling. I heard the morning chatters of the busy people riding the bus. They're probably nervous, excited or elated but I don't care cos they're not my life. I only live for my own life. I do not live a life living for other people. I know, I'm selfish. I always am.
I felt excitement bubble in me as I saw a signage that said casino. Hell yeah, I'm home.
I went down the bus, floating on cloud nine. I pulled my fake I.D. from my pocket and showed it to the pretty lady stationed on the doors. She looked at my I.D. and nodded.
The lady smiled at me with her kind, black eyes. "Hello, Miss. I'm Mina and I hope you enjoy your stay." She motioned at the men guarding the doors, urging them to open the door for me.
I think I look too poor, shit.
I entered and my ears were filled with loud party music. There were people dancing, whooping, kissing, gambling, crying, laughing, flirting, and everything that was noisy. I could hear moans, groans, sighs, grumbles. I could hear every noise. I could feel every thrill. I could feel every chill. I felt powerful. So powerful.
I gambled the whole night, not bothering if it was already morning.
I walked around, looking at the ongoing matches. I had to find an empty slot so that I could play. I must play.
"Hey, lady." A male voice called out. "Want a gamble with me?"
I turned. "Are you referring to me?"
He snorted. "Yeah."
I nodded and made a polite bow so that I will look inferior to him. "Of course, sir. I shall accept your invitation."
The man smiled, "That's great to hear. I'm Gelgar by the way."
Oh, so do I have to introduce myself too? I thought. That sucks.
"A pleasure to be your acquaintance." I replied. "I'm Adelheid."
Gelgar cracked a smile. "Weird name."
"Yeah." I cringed at the name I picked for myself. WHY THE FUCK AM I ADELHEID?
And so, I played poker with him.
"Okay," the dealer, Nanaba said. "Each chip is for $200.00. "
"Wait, what the fuck? That's too much!" Gelgar complained and scratched his nape. "I'm sick and my sickness is poverty."
Banana, sorry, Nanaba rolled her eyes. "As per the gambler's request, each chip is reduced to $3.00."
Gelgar grinned in delight and I heard Nanaba mumble.
"How is this gamble supposed to be exciting?" She mumbled. "Seriously? Three dollars?"
"Let's just gamble three chips, young lady so that it wouldn't exceed ten dollars and I will be not that poor." Gelgar proclaimed.
I nodded, not bothering about this bullcrap of the game. Seriously? Less than ten dollars? Where's the fucking joy?
"There goes Gelgar the Merciful again." Said Nanaba. "Seriously, Gelgar. If your money's getting weak, stop gambling."
"I. Am. Not. Planning. To. Stop. Gambling." Gelgar said firmly.
Man! This game is taking too long!
"Um, excuse me." I stated. "I'm not trying to be rude but we should start the gamble. Its wasting my time."
"Wow. She's serious about this." Nanaba sighed. "Alright." She then threw equal amounts of cards to me and Gelgar.
I gripped the arm of the chair that I was sitting on. This is probably one of my dullest gambles. I can't believe I'm playing against a penniless noob!
"I bet three chips." I said, remembering Gelgar's request.
Those eighteen dollars are mine! I'll win this!
I called over to a waitress named Nifa. She was carrying a tray with drinks I'm not even allowed to drink yet. I took one shot glass, not knowing what the substance was.
The bitter liquid licked my tongue and I flinched and wrinkled my nose in disgust. Across the table, Gelgar laughed boisterously.
"You should've just picked the wine." He closed his eyes as if saying a prayer. "Let's get this started then."
We were given a few moments to pick our cards.
"Ready?" Nanaba asked. "Showdown!"
I picks my cards and showed them. I threw them to the center of the table. Gelgar's eyes widened. He didn't even bother to show us his cards. Guess he was a goner from the start. I rolled my eyes.
Yup, this game is awfully boring.
Nanaba held back her laughter as she took a look at Gelgar. He was paralyzed, sad to see that his $9.00 had gone to another person's pocket.
"Those eighteen dollars are mine." I said, sounding like a dictator.
Gelgar blinked and then shrugged. "Meh. Whatever."
I rose, and walked away to gamble another gamble.
Lelelel hi guys. Was this chapter dull?
I don't know too. XD
Poor Gelgar tho. Bye, bye, eighteen dollars!
With love,
Tobidiot.
