Ivory agents like Marika and Ror have power similar to Khatien's, but it is granted by the ashing's bone implanted under their skin. For the Ivory, Khatien's legacy is a promise of more of the rare power granted by a creature long thought to be extinct.These three have very different goals, but they're thrust together on an assignment to reawaken the lost ashings. To succeed they will have to travel a world equal parts tech and magic, confronting the nature of power and loyalty along the way.
