October 2022: Shades Of Love

Shades Of Love by Sweety197

Before we start the interview, let's get to know Sweety197

Well, to begin with, I'm a degree college student with lots of stuff running wild all day long in my head. But amongst all this chaos, there's this small heart thriving only because it can write and express itself through words and verses.

I belong to Bharat or call it India. Along with writing, I'm also very passionate about singing. Talking about my personality, I think I'm rational, intellectual and yeah people keep calling me cute ;)

I love to sit alone in dark after everyone's fallen asleep. Not to think upon what I did in past and regret but to calm down and remind myself that I'm so precious to so many people and first to my own inner soul. You know that's the best way you can help yourself trust me.

About writing, I'm a dictionary reader. I developed this habit of reading new and fancy words from dictionary in my free time which has helped me a lot in developing my writing skills and enhancing my vocabulary.

I write only when it pleases me and that means in two ways. First, when my spirits are too high to sit idly in one place and second when my mood is actually calm, relaxing or just sad to the core.

I don't like partying or going on a tour instead a set of headphone or a paper-pen would please me a lot.

1. How did you come up with idea of this book?

So it was another day at school in 10th grade when I was sitting by the window with a pen in hand and a paper ofcourse, waiting for the teacher to come. But the lecture was cancelled so my imagination just got piqued looking at the sunlight glistening my face and scattering over the paper. I decided to write something. And it was pretty amazing how I wrote a couple of lines and it ryhmed! That's where I keep writing until I'm actually not bothered about the teacher entering the class and leaving XD. That's when I wrote the first poem of my collection.

I actually wrote a lot of poems in the back of my school diary. One cozy day, I felt this inclination to share them with others. I was also inspired by other writers here on Wattpad. The stories I read here, the poetry collection which gave me peace everything contributed to it.

Shades of Love is a romantic yet teaching life-lessons kind of poem collection. I'm not afraid to say that it was some cute and  naive romantic part of me urging me to write all those poems. I actually wanted to live the life of a girl (the protagonist) who fell so deeply in love with a stranger. At a point, even I became curious about what would happen next and how shall I be concluding it.

Another thing was that I actually had great interest in narration. So that became the foundation of my story based poetry collection surprisingly which impressed people.

2. What do you enjoy most while writing poetry?

The joy of narration! I love it. It's like I'm conveying a story and people are listening to it, they're following it. I love it when people reply to me saying that they were fascinated by my narrative style and were eager to know what happens next in the girl's life.

I also enjoy the flow. When I sit to write, words start dancing in my head. I could actually picturise every single detail of what I'm willing to convey. It's like binge watching a short film inside your head and then sketching it on paper ;)

3. How long have you been writing and what was your first poem?

Precisely, it's been three years since I joined Wattpad and that's when I started writing. All credits to my real life bestie who introduced me to this platform as well as the writer within me.

So I've been writing since like two years but I'm not a constant updater. I take breaks and sometimes really long breaks. As I already said before, I write only when it pleases me.

My first poem was 'A Good Morning'. Here it goes. Hope you like it.

I'm feeling good today
Cause this morning I saw your face.
So this is how the incident took place...

It was early morning but I was late awake.
I got outta my bed and banged
That freaking alarm for God's sake!

With my hair flying in the air,
I got my hoodie on and got down the stairs.
Jumping downstairs full of refreshment;
I locked the wooden door and escaped the basement.
Unaware of what was coming next to me;
I played with the mild breeze that tickled me.

I crossed the black white stripes and
In the next few minutes, in the garden I stand;
Till the distance my sight could reach,
It was all green along with a brown, sandy beach.

I started my walk with bare feet
And waved at the singles and old new couples.
Everything was so lovely and so sweet;
Oh, the chirping birds and the laughing people!

As I was jogging I noticed my own shadow racing ahead of me;
I got deep engrossed in observing it keenly.
Lost in my own trance,
I kept dragging my feet lazily.
Until I bumped into a man
Who came in front of me suddenly.

It was You!
I lost my balance for a moment
And after looking at you
For some more moments, my heart blew.

I wasn't able to remove my eyes from your face;
On it I found that elegant and astonishing grace!

Seemed like you weren't interested at all,
So you just said 'sorry' and added a smile.

But I can understand, after all,
You were the most handsome and I was fragile.

This morning was indeed
A Good Morning!

4.What's your favourite poem from 'Shades Of Love' and why?

It's very difficult to pick any one but the poem which is very close to my heart is 'Unsaid Things!'

Today when I filled you in my eyes
And sat to write,
A startling question raised in my head...
'Am I fooling myself?'

Is there really anything like
Heart's call reaches it's destination?
If yes, than why does all this
Now seems like a delusion!

Is it true at all that
True love never dies...
If yes than why I feel that my love's slowly dying?

I thought,
Your evergreen love would never make me feel blue
Cause my life, is my love,
my love is, you!

But now I think
My life loves me a bit
But you...
You don't do.

***

After loving you so much and still you don't come;
It makes me lose my faith in love.

It makes me believe that love is fake,
And dying in love for someone
Is the biggest mistake.

If not so close than just at a distance
From where I could be able to have your glance.
If not a kiss in love, than at least, let's be lovers... by chance!

Love means caring, love is sharing.
But in my dictionary love is waiting!

No worries honey.
You can keep me craving as long as you wish;
I'll wait, I'll wait for you my whole life.
Promise me, you'll meet me in that world,
If impossible to see me alive.

***

The reason behind my such condition is you.
No, it's all my fault, then I felt.
It's me after all who's dying to have you;
How come I expected that you'll melt!

Little did I know,
That I'd wander in the streets like wanderers;
Little did I know,
That I'd love the thorns of the flowers I hated once.

Little did I know I would even know
What's to dance in Love's invisible snow.

I admit,
Your presence is the most beautiful essence.
I accept,
Love ain't at all, a bed of roses.

I regret,
Making 'losing You' my deepest fear.
At the end,
I realised... I was in tears!

Well I'm personally touched by this poem because the protagonist here pleads for his love so deeply and so heartedly. At this point, she's realised that she's totally into him and can't bear his absence which would just melt anyone's heart away.

5. Who's your favourite poet on or off Wattpad? What do you like about them?

There are many! On Wattpad I'm very fond of these two writers Madhavani and fly2live. They both are exceptionally talented and sweet. I actually get inspired by their deep, concise and intellectual style of writing and their impressive demeanor. Their  knowledge about literature is praiseworthy!

Off Wattpad, I'm a fan of many Indian writers like Rabindranath Tagore, Sarojini Naidu, Munshi Premchand along with some English writers like Shakespeare ofcourse, Virginia Woolf, Carolyn Keene and Lord Byron ('She walks in Beauty' is my personal favourite.)

Though I haven't read a good number of books in my life yet but still I'm fond of these writers' works.

Not to forget there are many other incredible writers whose books I've read but are anonymous.

6. What are your future projects?

Currently, my first primary goal  is to complete my ongoing novel 'The Neophytes'. It's a criminal thriller, so yeah it's gonna take time for me to finish it. Gotta think and do a lot of homework.

After that, I'm planning to publish a sequel of 'Shades of Love'. I'll be completing their love story or at least give an appropriate ending to it in the sequel. Let's see how it comes up. Fingers crossed.

That's all.

Thank you so much WattpadPoetryIN team for having me and giving me such a pleasure to speak to all those amazing people out there. You all just made my day.

Thank you to all those who're reading this. I'm grateful to each one of you.❤️
