We are so pleased to announce the March Adult Fiction Book of the Month, Coffee Talk, by Michael Estrin!

Coffee Talk is a short story collection inspired by real-life moments Michael has experienced in his adventures to his local coffee shops. In this story, Michael has hilariously captured the wild, strange, sweet, and sometimes truly unbelievable moments that occur as people acquire their caffeine fix.

The chapters, while short in length, pack a punch in each unique story. I was compelled to read on by the first chapter alone in which we get to see a patient barista interact with a rather stubborn customer who outlines the temperature at which a cappuccino is best served. A hilarious representation of the flawed saying "the customer is always right," Michael artfully highlights the everyday hero the barista represents.

A favorite chapter of mine is titled, "Your total comes to: misogyny, virginity, numerology." If the title alone doesn't make you drop everything right now and start reading, I don't know what will. But to tease a little more, not that you should need it, in this chapter yet another very cool barista makes an appearance and she may just be my hero :)

These stories capture both the innocence and the cynicism that describe humanity. Michael's persona shines through in the text, filled with wry humor and thoughtful full-circle moments, I learn something from every chapter. Moreover, the short length of the stories leaves you wanting more but all the while realizing that it's the brevity of the story, the moment, that is its power.
