The Wedding Effect is a wonderful story following the protagonist Camsy Colbert as she plans an immaculate wedding for her cousin. Camsy is a fierce, strong-willed, and accomplished wedding planner and has the whole event under control. (I mean she didn't get the title of "America's Best Wedding Planner" for slacking around.) However, despite the fairytales she strives to create for the couples she celebrates, Camsy has been unlucky in love. The meticulously planned wedding takes a turn when a lost love from Camsy's past appears and she is forced to confront feelings she didn't know she could still feel. Questions of friendship...attraction...love...and maybe even new beginnings arise, questions that Camsy can no longer evade.

Wonderfully written, AOFunke does an exquisite job of telling the story of heartbreak and how one heals themselves to be open to love again. Camsy is a determined, powerful character who, despite the pain she has endured, remains true to herself and fights for herself. This is an honest love story that explores the question of being ready for love and what it means to follow your heart and trust your judgment.
