Mirror People
By JDRider
This short story in three parts (split into six chapters) follows an inspector investigating the unexplained disappearance of Richard Dare. To gain more information about the missing scientist, he meets his ten-year-old niece Lucie in a foster home. The child is the the only possible witness and owns the key to a closed room in Dare's house. And this room might hold important evidence - or at least an explanation for Dare's obscure studies.
Although the investigator's relationship with the girl is at first hampered by his memories of the painful loss of his own daughter, he succeeds to gain Lucie's trust . Finally, the girl explains what's so special about the mirrors in Dare's house. But when they visit her former home and Lucie opens the forbidden room, the inspector finds himself distracted by an apparition. The moment he realises his mistake, Lucie has already been contacted by the mirror people. And why can he see his daughter Gracie in the mirrors?
Straight from the beginning of this paranormal story, J. D. Rider builds a dark, captivating atmosphere, leading us through Lucie's dreadful past. We follow the young heroine and the reluctant investigator until we reach a point where we fear to look at our own reflection in a mirror...
