Chapter 4..... Grand Tours and Noisy Neighbors
After an earful from Director Clavell, Nemona escorted me to our Homeroom class, where I was introduced by my Homeroom teacher Mr. Jacq. He seemed a laid back, friendly, fatherly man, with wild hair, lax clothes and shoes, and huge hexagonal glasses on his face. The class respected him quite, and it wasn't hard to pinpoint why many had said they preferred his Homeroom and Biology classes over all of them. After the introduction, I answered some of the class's questions, including ones that Nemona had lined up for me as I expressed my goals and passions with a lively attitude. After Homeroom, I was allowed to explore the place to my pleasure, and, looking up at the clock, I thought it best to grab some lunch with the Lp that Nemona gave to me. Upon going into the Cafeteria, and placing my order, I noticed a familiar face at the back of the room, causing me to turn fully as I stared at Arven, his back turned to the rest of the diners here. Curious, I slunk my way quietly up to the boy, not making a peep as he was muttering to himself over something, and sifting through something paper. Remembering the name of the boy, I chirped in a friendly manner, "Howsit going, Arven?" And he yelped as he spun around in suprise to greet me. "H-Hey, It's you! My little buddy from the Lighthouse on Poco Path! Got the a mind like a Steel Trap, eh? Whatever brings you here?" "I was hungry, so I came here and couldn't help but notice you were kind of hiding back here by yourself. Is something the matter?" I asked, wondering what it was that he was planning. "Funny you ask that. Rumors around the school say you fought off a couple bullies at the stairs, is that true?" He asked, sending a chill through me as I stuttered, "W-Well it wasn't JUST me. Why do you ask?" "Because if your Pokémon are as strong they say, you'd be the perfect candidate for what I'm looking for." "Which is?" "Ah! You're one to ask for details before jumping in, hm? I respect that. See, I've read in a book about magical healing herbs that provides aid to the body, even at it's weakest. They're called, "Herba Mystica"." "Herba WHATica?" "Herba MYSTica. Here! Read this excerpt here." Arven said, holding up the book to my face that depicted different herbs of healing properties, and I quickly skimmed the excerpt as it told of strange discoveries of glowing plants meant to heal any sickness or wound! "Facinating! But, oh, it DOES sound like a wild tale for kids to be inspired by. What do you intend to do with this knowledge?" "Well, I want to find out if they're real or not, and if it's actually true to the excerpt what their capabilities are. You don't have to answer now, just let it simmer, but it'd be nice if you tagged along." With that, he pat me on my shoulder gently, and walked away, leaving me dumbfounded as the lunch lady called, "Peanut Butter for Miss Spirit! "C-Coming!" I called, racing back towards the front as the lady handed me a paper sack. After I paid for the sandwich, I sat down at one of the long tables, unwrapping the plastic when out of nowhere, "Hey, you!" "AH!" Karma got me back big time for what I did to Arven in the form of yet another familiar face.... One that I wasn't too keen on seeing that moment.... It was that Viking kid, Kari, and she slid into the seat next to me as she greeted me with a smile. "Couldn't help but notice you were sitting here alone by yourself, so I thought "She looks kind of lonely. Why don't you sit with her?"; a fine idea if you ask me!" She said, placing her chin on the back of her hands. I tried to ignore her as I continued to have my lunch, praying she'd get the hint, or she'll simply grow bored of me and leave, but I feel like that wasn't going to convince the eccentric girl as she continued casually, "I saw what you did by the stairs for that kid. You battled quite passionately with your little Pokémon, though it could use more grace and pizazz. I'm assuming you're a bit wet behind the ears, no?" "What?!" I asked, finally giving into her as she simplified, "You know, Rough around the edges? Not so tuned? NEW to training?" "Why is that your business? I hardly know you!" I snapped, not meaning to sound rude but accidentally letting my frustration show. "Hmmm, someone seems hot headed today. Must be the nerves! I can smell it on you- the anxiety and whatnot." Kari continued, leaning in closer to observe my sandwich. "May I help you?" I asked, contorting my face in disapproval. "I've never seen such a boring lunch before." She began, pulling back away as she continued, "Back at home, lunchtime had a whole table filled for ten people; with meats, veggies, fruits, anything you can set out and it'd get all gobbled up after a good prayer. If I had my way, I'd invite a few friends over to my place, and give them the warm welcome of my people." "Your place?" "My dorm, but it's a home away from home. Problem is, I haven't a single friend that'd remotely be interested in my heritage to so much as sample a spoonful of Skause! In fact, I have only acquaintances...." she explained, trailing off as her smile faltered a bit. At least she showed SOME emotion under all that prideful, tough exterior! I could only imagine how she was towards her acquaintances, and honestly, I wouldn't blame them for it. "I never told you who I was! Forgive me; I'm Kari, a Viking from a long line of ancient Vikings." She said brightly, holding out her hand to me as she continued, "I have pride in my family history. May I ask yours?" "M-My family history?" I asked, becoming embarrassed as she laughed. "Goodness NO! I wanted to ask your name, silly." She said, beaming wide and showing her perfect white teeth. "O-Oh.... I'm Spirit, and I just moved here from Kalos." "Kalos, eh? You're a while a ways away from your old region, aren't you? Pray tell, what's it like there?" "I-I'd rather not speak of that..... It brings back too many fond memories that I miss...." I sulked, putting my sandwich down on the bag before me as my heart grew heavy. "Fond memories need not do harm. In fact, it's those memories that helped make you! The new ones only enhance you; you're favorite activities that define you, you'll find enhanced here tenfold. I say you should embrace this enhancement, and not carry it as a threat to who you've become now." "Are you always this heartless?! Do you even know what it's like to leave something you love behind?!" I snapped, glaring at her angrily as she replied, "I-I didn't know I was.... But I have, when my baby brother was taken. A Gyrados pulled him under and wouldn't let go! He was the second boy out of a group of quadruplets, with Arne being the first and Bragi being the third." "O-Oh..... I-I'm sorry to hear it....." I said, my face softening at the revelation. "Yeah, well, we don't let it get to us. We live our lives as normal, and we thank the gods that little Gunnar is living his best life up in Valhalla; smiling down on us as we grow and bear our cubs." Kari said with a shrug, continuing to smile her mysterious smile. "Whose the fourth sibling? You didn't mention her." I asked, wanting to change the heartbreaking topic. "Hm? Oh! Her name is Hildr. Whew! Is she turning out to be daddy's little skjoldsmøyer, that one." "Pardon?" "It's "Shield-maiden" in my language. A warrioress inside of the body of a wee lass, the way she carries on training her Pokémon to hunt and all. Managed to tame a whole grown Mammoswine at three, can you believe that?!" Kari explained, and my jaw could only hang open in shock as response. Three years old? I couldn't even take on a Diggersby, much less KNEW one existed at that age! "You open your mouth wider, you might accidentally eat a Bug Pokémon." Kari giggled, making me snap out of my awe as I said, "Wow, your sister sounds like a force to be reckoned with alright. A little scary, if you ask me." "Well, what can I say? Cubs learn from their elders, and in turn the cubs of the cubs will be taught to be twice that. Like me! I'm a skilled trainer, but only because my mother is the Shaman of my clan. She can tame Pokémon with a swipe of her hand, or whistle of her lips. I can battle as well because my father is a hunter, but I'm not as great as my Hildr or Bragi." "What about Arnie?" I asked, causing her to look up at me in confusion as she asked, "Who?" "Your other brother; his name is Arnie, right?" I asked again, and she burst into a fit of laughter as corrected, "Arne! Arrrrrr-neh!" "Aaaahhhhhrrrrrrnnnnneeeehhhhh!" I copied, and Kari applauded as she cheered, "There you go! My Arne is in line to be a new chief, the current one now is my uncle." "No cousins?" "I have cousins, but they'd much prefer life in regions like Galar and people like famous doctors. All there is now is my eldest sister Ingrid, myself, and the youngest that remain. Like, who could EVER leave that kind of life behind?" "That sounds awful. Your poor uncle..." I said, feeling bad for the man. "Ah, he'd want them to pick and choose, though admittedly he WAS saddened by their choice to leave the viking way behind." Kari said as the bell signaling the end of Lunch rang. "Oh well. Time sure flies when you meet someone. Nice talking to you Spirit!" She called as she ran ahead to her next class. "A-Ah! Y-You too Kari!" I called back, but I wasn't sure she heard me what with her running out so quickly, and I packed up what sandwich was left for later before heading out myself to my next class. The first on my schedule was Battle Studies with a woman called "Ms. Dendra", who was overly energetic upon meeting. She never used my name the whole class; making me fed up with her in the first two minutes. Her energetic attitude was annoying to me, though it was meant to be motivational, but I can't see how ANYONE could be so pushy! Next was Mr. Jacq again, this time, he was a Biology teacher. Just like in Homeroom, Mr. Jacq was a kind, fatherly soul, and his Pokémon knowledge was the level of a TRUE professor! He may not have looked so, but the way he spoke as he taught was professional and easy to understand; By far my favorite class. Now Math was a different can of Weedle.... No matter how it was put, Ms. Tyme's lectures were so confusing! Needless to say, it was at the very bottom of my list of things to look forward to. Next was History..... MAN I thought MATH was bad! Ms. Raifort was a pompous thing, and she acted like she was all superior than the rest of us! I hated everything about her, from her attitude to her unnatural love for going back in time. I get loving the old and vintage, but when does it go TOO overboard? After those classes, I asked around for my newly made friend Nemona, to which I was then directed to the teacher's lounge by another classmate. What on EARTH could she be doing in there? I opened the door to soft chattering, and I was surprised to see Nemona in the presence of a tall, very important looking lady! Her hair was puffy, and black with streaks of yellow, and her skin was dark and flawless! She wore glistening, purplish black gloves that bore the symbol of a compass, and her suit made her look more business like than any other teacher or staff in the school. Just who WAS she? I approached closer, absentmindedly staring on at the lady as she concluded her dialougue with my friend, and spun on her heel to leave when she accidentally bumped into me, startling me back awake. "Ah! Pardon me." She simply said before taking her leave once more..... That was it? No introduction?! "How domineering." was all I could think as I shook my head in dislike of the woman's attitude, and Nemona began, "Oh, hey Spirit!" "Hey Nemona! Say, who was that you were talking to just a moment ago?" "Hm? Oh, her? Piqued your interest, did she? That's the top champion, La Primera. She's the very first champion of Paldea, with me being the second!" "Wait, so why is she still champion if you defeated her in battle?" "Because ANYONE can be champion in Paldea, if and only IF you're willing to put in the effort. Which reminds me, Spirit, remember in Homeroom? You said you wanted to be a stronger trainer, right?" "And complete my Pokédex, yes. Why do you ask?" I asked, curious about what she wanted. "Well I have an idea to help you achieve that goal! You don't have to do it, or agree to it, but I suggest taking on the Gyms." "The Gyms? Y-Yeah, sure. I'll give them a go." "Really?! Oh, wow! But wait, I have a whole spiel to give you." Nemona said, ecstatic that I happily accepted as she continued, "Trainers known to reach Champion rank are pro-tier battlers who raise their Pokémon to their strongest. Their battles keep fans and passerbys on the edge, it's THAT intense!" "W-Wow! I had no idea they were THAT level of strong!" I exclaimed, my stomach filling up with butterfree in anxiousness by the thought. Nemona simply smiled as she replied, "Uh-huh! Here in Paldea, you have to prove yourself to the Pokémon League directly to get the title. That means you have to do more than just attend one or two classes here at Uva Academy." "What else is there to do?" "You have to take on all eight Gyms scattered here and there throughout Paldea, and win their badges of course!" She replied sagely. The very thought intimidated me as I countered, "Th-That doesn't sound easy to do, Nemona.... Pokémon Gyms are quite a big deal; WINNING one is moreso!" "Nobody said road to Champion rank was gonna be easy..." Nemona replied, her voice and face wavering a little, and I was afraid I had offended her before she picked back up energetically, "Once you clear the Gym gauntlet, you must take a special test known as "The Champion's Assessment", and pass through the elite four. If you pass the test and win THAT, then at long last will you finally claim the official title of Champion!" "That's quite a bit to do for the title of "Champion", but it sure sounds like a blast!" I replied, still nervous but blown away by the adventure. "Right?!" Nemona began, reciprocating the feeling of excitement, "The title of Champion, in short, is every Pokémon Trainer's dream; the coolest title anyone could ever hope to get! Not to brag, or anything.... heh.." "No, I completely understand. It's a very prestigious title where I'm from as well! I've never strove for that road, though, because I was more interested in botany at that time. You sell it like you mean it, and I respect that!" I replied, smiling at her. The glimmer of joy in her eyes was a beautiful thing as she simply nodded, and she placed her finger to her lip in thought as she reminisced, "You know, I got the Champion title back during our last Treasure hunt." "Treasure hunt?" I asked, raising a brow. "Oh! The treasure hunt is like an independent study of sorts. It's super fun, and you get to go anywhere and do what you like! Our last one started shortly after this year, and that's when I became champion." "That's so cool!" I fawned, my blood pulsing with anticipation for such an event to happen my first year. "Yeah, but I dunno if that was what I would call my "Tresure" though... Maybe if you and I got stronger together...?" Nemona said, deep in thought as I dropped my jaw in shock. After a few moments of silence, Nemona snapped out of her thoughts and offered, "Here, let me save the locations of the Gyms on your Map for you." "O-Oh! Thank you." I replied, taking out my phone for her so she could send me the locations. As I viewed my map app, I saw just how many towns and cities Paldea had, and I was blown away as I breathed out, "Wow! I can't wait to see all of this!" "Hehe. I knew you wouldn't be able to resist. Give it some thought, okay?" Nemona replied before quickly rushing off. "I-I will!" I called as she went through the door of the lounge, and I was just about to do the same when the intercom rung out, "Calling Miss Spirit to the Director's office, please?" "Wh-Wha?!" I yelped, my blood turning colder than an ice type Pokémon as the intercom announced again, "Once again, Miss Spirit to the Director's office." Nervously, I made my way out of the teacher's lounge, and shuffled my way down the hall as I thought to myself why the Director was already calling me to his office for. Once I found the room I needed, I turned a fancy, brass handle before opening the door to a room filled with very complex equipment that was unbeknownst to me. At the end of it all stood Director Clavell, looking out of a massive window down at the Academy grounds as I approached him. "Y-Yes Director? I-Is something the matter?" I asked, rubbing my hands together as I feared the worst. He turned to face me, a kind smile crossing his face as he began jovialy, "Thank you for coming, Miss Spirit. Have you been enjoying your time here at Uva Academy thus far?" "Why, yes Director. The teachers are facinating, and the students are so full of life and kindness. And the school is absolutely lovely, from the courtyard to the the inside!" I replied, thinking of all the amazing people I've met, and sights I've seen so far. "That is most wonderful to hear. Now, I'm certain you are confused as to why I've called you here, and let me assure you that there is a good reason." He began, getting up from his desk. "And that is?" I asked, waiting patiently for his response. "It would seem that a dear friend of mine has a rather serious matter that they'd like to discuss with you." ""Dear friend"?" I asked, looking around the room for who it may be. "Ah, no, I'm afraid they're not actually here in this room WITH us. One moment, please. Just allow me to connect us...." Director Clavell made his way over to a massive Television screen, and it took only about four minutes before I was met face to face with a strange man. "Hello, Spirit. It is nice to meet you." The man began, giving a slight salute before going back to a business like stance. "Ah, h-hello sir! And you're-?" "Professor Turo. I carry out Pokémon research within The Great Crater of Paldea-at a sight known as "Area Zero"." ""Area Zero"? "Crater"?" I repeated, confused. The professor nodded as he brought up an image on the screen. Looking closely, I realized that the Crater itself made a perfect ring of mountain, and a huge building, but the center of the Crater was obscured by a mass of clouds, much to my dismay. "I wonder what it looks like at the bottom..." I said under my breath as Director Clavell chimed, "The professor is, in fact, a graduate of our fine academy. And a splendid researcher as well." "Woah!" I breathed in amazement. "Well, let me get straight to the point at hand." The professor began, keeping a busy tone, "Spirit, student ID number 673A242... You travel with the unusual Pokémon "Miraidon", is that correct?" I was shocked that he knew as I stammered, "Y-Yes. Yes sir, I have it here with me." "Thank you. I appreciate you being honest in confirming the facts." He replied, nodding his head in approval before quickly saying, "Ah, not that I-I do not mean to offend. In fact, i wish to ask you for your assistance." "In what, if you don't mind me asking?" I asked, shuffling a little to relieve the numbness in my feet. As if it were a cue, the Pokéball Arven had given me began to glow, and I jumped, startled by the sudden "Mirai?" that came from behind the Director and I. The Director and myself turned, making Clavell reel back in astonishment as Professor Turo said casually, "Oh. How good to see that you are well. It has been a while quite since last we met." "Mira-don!" Miraidon replied, seemingly happy to see him in return. "Is Miraidon yours, Professor?" I asked, turning back to the screen. "Indeed. Miraidon was once in my care, you see, as was it's Pokéball. I assume you recieved it from a young man called "Arven"." "Y-Yes sir, but I had no idea it had a trainer already. I'm sorry I didn't return it sooner, Professor." I replied, feeling guilty. "It's quite alright. In fact, I myself am in no position any longer to be able to manage that Pokémon by myself." "Oh?" "This is what I would ask of you: would you continue looking after Miraidon in my stead?" I was stunned by what I was hearing, and I was tempted to decline when Miraidon nuzzled the back of my shoulder. I turned, and I stared deep into it's beautiful, pixelated eyes as it quietly snorted and breathed. Seeing it's pleading gaze melted my heart, and I set my hand down gently on it's head as I replied, "Of course, Professor. I'll take good care of Miraidon!" "I do appreciate your agreement." The professor replied, seemingly happy. "Miraidon has been greatly weakened, and is currently incapable of battling. It can, however, take on a form specialized for mobility. In all likelihood, it will require some time to fully regain the capabilities it once had." The professor explained, going back to business on the matter at hand, and I replied, "That's perfect to me. A Pokémon is a Pokémon after all!" "I will provide you my contact information. If you would please get out your phone?" The professor requested, and I couldn't help but think as I once again got my phone out how much use it had been after JUST receiving it that day! Once I had Professor Turo's contact, he began again, "I will be keeping regular contact with you going forward to keep tabs on your status. Until then." He walked away, and the call ended there as I sheepishly said to a blackened screen, "Goodbye...." "Mirai! Don!" Miraidon cried, walking towards the screen, and it broke my heart. It missed the professor greatly, by the face it made! I could hear the Director mutter something under his breath, but when I turned to see what was troubling him, his demeanor changed to a calm tone as he began, "Seems the professor is asking quite the task from you." "It's no trouble at all," I replied, calling Miraidon back to it's ball as I sighed, "I just hope it let's me take care of it, is all." "The Academy is always here to help and support you in any way you need, you have but to ask." "Th-Thank you, Director." Was all I could say in response. The Director smiled once again, saying in a soft tone, "I do hope you'll continue to enjoy your school life together with your Miraidon, Miss Spirit." "You can count on that, Sir." I assured, and with that, we bid each other a good day. Running Professor Turo's words and request through my head, I didn't notice another person had entered the room, and I found myself crashing smackdab into Nemona as she cried, "Careful now!" "AH! Nemona I'm SO sorry!" I replied, grabbing her to help her keep her balance as she said, "It's alright, it happens to the best of us! But more importantly, to be called into the Director's office on your first day? How'd you land in that much trouble already?" I went silent, unsure where to start when she giggled, and slapped my arm playfully as she exclaimed, "Naw, just kidding! I know it wasn't like that." "Oh, you kidder..." I replied, mustering an awkward laugh in return. "Jokes aside, Mr. Jacq wanted me to show you to your school dorm. Your very own private room, Spirit! Let's go check it out!" Nemona said excitedly, and I didn't have the time to reciprocate as she grabbed my arm, and raced down the hallway; almost dragging me behind her before we came upon a white door with the number thirty four in plated brass nailed to it. Once we were there, she turned the knob, and we both entered into a pretty large room, complete with a small kitchen, and bathroom! "Oooohhhh." I breathed, looking around, and Nemona giggled as she announced loudly, "Ta-Ta-Tachán! From today on, this is your room, Spirit!" "Awesome!" I replied, checking out what I had as Nemona continued to survey the room. "Actually, it's as new to me as it is to you. Never been in here before today." She walked over to a neatly made bed, and suggested, "Maybe check out your new bed? Looks really comfy. And you must be pretty worn out from all this stuff happening on your first day, huh? A quick rest on a bed is the best thing to get yourself, and your Pokémon healthy again!" "I suppose you're right, Nemona. You take care now!" "You too!" She replied, leaving the room once more. I took River's ball in hand, and I said, "Okay my sweet River, you can come out now!" The ball glowed in my hand, and out came River as he did a small shimmy. Looking around curiously, River began to wander from the kitchen, to the bedroom portion, sniffing around for something as I giggled, "What do you think?" After going underneath the bed, and coming back out again, River did a happy little jig before saying, "Quax-Quax!" And racing back up to me. Laughing, I lifted River into my arms, and yawned loudly as I replied, "I suppose it's best we get some shut eye, huh?" River yawned as well, and I settled him onto my bed before digging my sleep clothes out of my back pack. I quickly changed out of my uniform, and I drew the curtains before shutting off the light. I cuddled up with River on my bed, and I tried to sleep when I heard a loud thud come from next door, keeping us awake. "What was that?" I asked, and I heard a louder thud, causing River to retreat under my covers frightened. "Poor River..." I murmured, then I heard more thudding and clattering from next door. Irritated, I swung my legs over my bed, told River to stay put, and turned on the lights before marching out into the hallway. Following the sounds of clinging, squealing, and thudding, I was able to single out a door with thirty nine on the front, and I knocked lightly before crossing my arms. You wouldn't BELIEVE who it was that answered! Once the door opened, I was met face to face with Kari yet again, with a little Pokémon resting on her shoulder as she greeted cheerfully, "Oh, hey! Spirit from the Cafeteria!" "You've GOT to be kidding!" I thought as my jaw hung open in shock. What could she POSSIBLY be doing in her room to make all that ruckus!? Kari looked me up and down, her brow raised as she said, "You look about ready for bed than visiting a friend." "Because my Pokémon and I were going to take a nap and relax the rest of the day, but it's impossible with the noise you were making, so I decided to come see what in the blazes you were doing that required being loud." I explained, keeping my eyes trained on her little Pokémon as it stared into my soul. Kari's smile fell as she replied, "Oh dear, my bad! Sometimes, when he's in a playful mood, Hálogi tends to get a bit rowdy." "You mean the one on your shoulder?" I asked, pointing at the strange little creature, and making her lean her head against it lovingly as she said, "Do you like her? She's an "Igglybuff"!" ""She"?!" I yelped, confused. "Yes. This is Sæll, my Igglybuff. Cute, huh?" Karin replied, petting the Igglybuff, and making it purr loudly as another crash sounded from behind her. "Hálogi! Easy!" She scolded, and I heard a familiar cry that made my jaw drop. Could it be? No, it couldn't! A familiar Pokémon popped it's head around the corner, and tilted it's head curiously as it said, "Fue?" Hálogi was a Fuecoco! "Hey, Nemona has one of those too!" I exclaimed, pointing down at Kari's Fuecoco as it hid behind it's trainer, and Kari laughed as she boasted proudly, "There are many, but none are as good as my Hálogi. I just wish he knew when to tone down his playfulness. Go on, you and Sæll say hello!" As Kari asked, her Fuecoco and Igglybuff came to my feet; Hálogi greeting me with a nudge, and Sæll singing a little tune. "Aww, you two are cute." I said, patting the head of Sæll and making her purr. "Aren't you gonna introduce yours?" Kari asked, catching me off gaurd. "My what?" "Your little friend hiding behind you! He looks like a cutie." She reiterated, and I looked behind me to find that River had followed me. "Oh, was I gone too long? I'm sorry sugar..." I replied, petting my Quaxly as Kari asked, "You named them Sugar?" "N-No! No, of course not. His name is River." I replied awkwardly as River made his way up to the two foreign Pokémon. They all seemed to observe one another, Sæll simply blinking at the the other two, and River sniffing Hálogi for his scent before reeling back in disgust. This seemed to upset the poor Fuecoco, and it lashed out, yelling, "Coco-Fue! Fue-Fuecoco!" "Well if you'd let me bathe you, Hálogi, you wouldn't smell like burnt hair all the time." Kari laughed, making her Fuecoco blush in embarrassment. "Is it just these two?" I asked, picking River up from the floor. "Oh, no! There's also my Wooper Vön, my Wigglet Vættir, Skærr is my Buizel, and Lilemoore is my Hopip. Hálogi and Vön are the only boys, and I love them as if I hatched them from a small egg." "So Sæll, Vættir, Skærr, and Lilemoore are all girls?" I asked, smiling. "Absolutely! All of them are my little Skjoldsmøyers as well. Admittedly, though, Sæll likes to be treated like a Jarl." "A what?" "A queen, to make it easier for you." "Aww. My River likes to be treated like a prince, so I know the feeling of pampering them." The two of us shared a laugh before Kari asked, "Is River by himself?" "Nope! I also have a Fletchling named Ruby, a Diglett named Diglett-Yahh-" ""Diglett-Yahh"?" Kari asked, laughing. I nodded as I explained my reason for the name, and I continued, "My Scatterbug is named Buttercup, and my darling Deerling is Daisy." "Awww, all of them are adorable! It's almost down to earth, literally!" "Yeah, and like your Hálogi and Vön, my River and Diglett-Yahh are the only two boys." "I bet they all like each other just the same." Kari remarked, smiling. Just then, I could smell the fragrance of something cooking wafting through the air, and I stopped to take in the delicious scent as I asked, "What's that?" "Hm? Oh! It's supper from last night that I'm warming up; keep forgetting I'm not home, so I tend to make portions too large for myself, and my Pokémon to finish. Would you like to stay for some before heading off to sleep?" Kari offered kindly. "Oh, uhh... Not today, Kari. Tomorrow maybe?" "Sounds fair. Sweet dreams, Spirit!" She replied, waving me off as she beckoned for Sæll and Hálogi to go back into her room, and shutting the door. I lingered on, looking at the door a bit longer when River tapped my arm, wanting to be set down again. "O-Oh! S-Sorry River... Let's go back to our room, and rest a bit. I've a feeling that we won't have to worry about the loudness anymore." I said, and the two of us made our way back to the open door that was my room.
