First Year

Thor...smite me already...

Why am I stuck with these people?

I was shoved side to side carelessly by my group of friends at the lunch table. It was currently lunch time and I have already lost my appetite by the sight of the cafeteria food. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for one reason and one reason only.

What was that reason, you ask?

The reason why I'm still here being knocked around by my friends is to see one person.

Her name is [Name] [Last name].

Too bad I can't talk to her.

Huh, you would think I would at least say a two letter word.

I watched her as she passed my group while talking to some of the most popular and well-known first years in Storybrooke Academy.

Jackson Overland said something that made Mariah irritated and chase after him. I watched as [Name] giggled and ran after the two.

I was suddenly shoved more violently then usually.

Sage snorted, "That's what you get for spacing out, dweeb!"

I sighed to myself and got up from my spot knowing I wouldn't get to see her anymore. I decided to go to the library until class started again.

~.~.~

It was after school already and it couldn't get any worse.

Scratch that.

It just did.

It was pouring rain and everyone but me seemed to be prepared for it. Everyone pulled out their umbrellas, most of them being charcoal black turning into jet black because of the rain.

I heard a giggle in the distance that I can't help but turn to. There she was again laughing with Mariah. She was giggling at Mariah's miserable attempt at stuffing her untamable hair in her hoodie.

As always, [Name] can't hide her kindness and shared her umbrella until Mariah got into her parents' car. I watched as [Name] waved her friend goodbye.

"Hey, [Name]!" Jackson greeted quickly as he skated passed her, "See ya later!"

"Bye, Jack!" she waved.

She was different from everyone else but at the same time she was indifferent. Her umbrella proved that fact. Her umbrella was just as black as everyone else's, but it was decorated with white polka dots. She didn't stand out, but she didn't blend in. I watched her go into the foggy rain along the side of the road.

I sighed to myself once more before clutching my leather jacket closer to myself. My hair immediately fell and cling to my face, soaked from by the heavy rain. I walked alone along the sidewalk. Cars would come by every once in a while and splash the water onto my jeans and shoes. I didn't care the first time around since I was already wet as it is.

I was already getting into my neighborhood. I walked until I heard a small mewl from an alleyway I passed. I stopped to stare at the black kitten in a box. I crouched down to pet thee kitten to show I meant it no harm. It purred against my hand.

I looked around to see if there was any way to cover the kitten, but there was nothing around that could help in this situation. I decided to pick it up and tuck it into my jacket. When I picked him up, I noticed he was well fed like someone was taking care of him. He popped out his head and mewl again before going back into my jacket. I smiled, finding his comfort cute.

"Oh," I heard someone say.

I turned towards the voice and felt flustered, "[Name]."

"Hey, Henry," I was surprised she knew my name. She smiled, "I see you found Toothless."

I speculated she was the one who took care of the kitten.

"So, uh," I stuttered.

Smooth...

"This is Toothless?" I asked.

"Yeah," she smiled brighter. She came closer to me and pet the head when Toothless came out again. "I found him a while ago and taken care of him since. I couldn't take him home, though. My mom wouldn't allow it."

"I could take care of him," I suddenly said.

What are you doing?!

Her eyes widen in happiness and there was a spark of home in them. I got nervous at the the closeness I was well aware of.

"Really?!" she exclaimed.

"Yeah," I nodded.

Dad is so going to kill me.

Second Year

I was so happy that I had a class with [Name], Art and our homeroom nonetheless. Too bad we were on completely different sides of the classroom where I was in the back and her near the front.

Almost a year has passed since I adopted Toothless as a pet. [Name] would come over every once in a while and now it's been a while, a few months give or take. She seems timid now like she was hesitating to talk to me. Guessing from the past experience of people I idolize (but in this case like), they end up hating me. My chest hurts at the thought of it but it was most likely true.

"Class, please welcome our new student," the teacher gestured to a timid blonde. I couldn't help but notice how her hair laid at mid-thigh and it was in a thick braid.

"Hello, my name is Rebecca Corona," the blonde waved and gave a smile.

"You may sit next to [Name]. [Name], please raised your hand," the teacher instructed, "Please welcome her since she cam from homeschooling." Rebecca walked over to the vacant seat. It seemed those two hit it off really well because I heard them giggle through the beginning of class.

"We will be working on a project that will be due next week on Friday. You may work in pairs but only in those I assigned in." The class groaned but listened anyways to her.

Names were said and people were put together with no complaint so far until she reached a name I was too familiar with.

"[Name] will be working with Anna." [Name] got up from her seat waving goodbye to Rebecca and walking towards Anna with a friendly smile.

I know, I know. There was little chance that I would be paired up with her but a guy could only hope.

"Henry will be working with Rebecca." I saw Rebecca look around for anyone that might be looking around. I raised my hand and waved at her direction to get her attention. She smiled in appreciation and walked over to a desk next to me.

The teacher continued with the names as she spoke, "Hi, I'm guessing you're Henry, right?"

I couldn't help but smile back at her slightly, "Yeah, and I'm guessing you're Rebecca?"

She laughed lightly before adding, "So, where do you want to work at?"

"I got room and sorta a small studio, so we can make all the mess we can."

"Wow, you have a studio? I do, too!" she asked with wide eyes. I couldn't help but be nervous from her preppy aura.

"Uh," I felt myself stutter, "something like that, yeah."

"Great! You don't mind if we start today, right?"

"Not at all."

~.~.~

"Hey, Hiccup?"

It's been almost a week and Rebecca has already picked up the nickname from my group of friends. Don't get me wrong. I'm not annoyed in anyway. If anything, I'm happy to have her as a friend. She sees me the same way as well. We share a lot of art work together. We share other things in common as well but she likes to mostly talk about art in general. There's nothing wrong about it. It's actually very refreshing.

And let me get this straight.

I see her as only a friend.

"Yeah, Rapunzel?" I smiled at her goofy nickname I gave her. We were currently in my studio finishing up the project that was due in a couple of days.

She giggled in return then she asked, "You like [Name], don't you?"

My eyes widen and I felt my cheeks heat up as I froze what I was doing. "Uh," I looked away from her amused gaze, "what makes you think that?"

"Well," she smirked teasingly, "what you're doing now proves it."

"Please," I interrupted her, "please, don't tell anyone."

She shook her head, "Don't worry, Hiccup. I'm not going to tell anyone. I'm just asking."

I stayed silent before saying, "Yes, I do, for over a year now."

Rebecca gushed making me jump slightly, "Aw! That's so cute!" I grunted at her comment. Well, have you talk to her yet?"

I sighed in disappointment, "Yes, but we kinda grew apart."

Rebecca frowned, "What happened?"

I shrugged my shoulders, "I don't know. She just stopped talking to me. I'm pretty sure she got annoyed with me."

Rebecca gave me a look.

"What?"

"Nothing," she shrugged.

"Okay...?"

Rebecca thought for a moment while tapping her chin with her finger, "Why don't you talk to her and see if that true?"

"You mean confront her?" I asked in shock.

"No, no," she shook her head, "Just talk, like the old times with her. Watch for any signs if she really is annoyed by you."

I sighed actually thinking about it for a minute. I shook my head getting the thought out of my head.

"And Henry, if you want it to be a secret, you shouldn't stare at her so much."

"Is it that obvious?"

Third Year

Rebecca became one of my close friends since over a year ago. She also became close friends with Jack, Mariah, and [Name]. I still worry if she will spill about what she learned in my studio that day. It's not that I don't trust her, but she could accidentally say something and she wouldn't even know it until it's too late.

"Hey, Henry!"

I looked up from my lunch to see Jack and Mariah approaching me with smiles on their faces.

"Uh, hey?"

"How's it going, bud?" Jack said with a suspicious smile.

'Bud?'

I stared with a dumbfounded look at him.

Mariah rolled her eyes and punched Jack. "Knock it off, you're scaring the laddy," her thick accent came out.

"Ow," he mumbled, "I was just being nice."

"People who just started talking don't call each other 'buds.' That's just insulting."

"Okay," I called out, "I'm just going to go." I started getting up from my seat and moving somewhere else with my lunch.

"Wait," I heard Mariah call out, "We wanted to ask you something."

Jack nodded, "We were wondering if you would like to hang out with us."

I looked at the two of them before looking at the table they usually sat at since our first year. I saw Rebecca wave but [Name] turned away knowing that I was looking at her.

"Sorry, but it looks like the one of you currently doesn't like me. It wouldn't feel right if I was forced into your guys' group."

They didn't say anything to my answer but only looked at each other as I walked away to dump my untouched food away and leave the cafeteria.

~.~.~

"Hey, Henry! Hold up!"

I groaned when I heard a skateboard come my way. Jack stepped off the board and flipped to his hand to hold onto.

"For the last time, I'm not going to hang out with you guys," I grunted while pulling my backpack onto my shoulder more.

For the past few days, Jack and Mariah have been trying to convince me to hang out with them. I honestly would but I don't think I could handle [Name] knowing that she doesn't like me. Even Rebecca have been trying to convince me too. Jack being the more persistent one than anyone else. Why can't he be this determined for his grades?

I was trying to escape him by rushing to my motorcycle so I didn't have to deal with him.

"I'm not asking about that," I groaned when he grabbed hold of my leather clad shoulder, "I need to ask you something else."

I shrugged off his hand and continued walking to my ride, "No, I will not do your homework for you."

"No, no!" he grabbed hold of my shoulder again, "It's something else."

I was just at the side of my motorcycle when I turned to him with my arms crossed and one of my eyebrows raised. "What?" I snapped.

"A few days ago, you mentioned someone didn't like you. Who was it?" he asked in all serious.

"I don't have time for this," I said as I climbed the motorcycle and starting the engine.

"Wait, wait!" Jack suddenly jumped in front of the vehicle and took hold of the handles, his skateboard long forgotten. "Just, please, answer the question!"

I stayed silent before answering with another question, "Why don't you ask [Name]?"

With that, I drove off.

I was surprised later that night when I received a local call with no name on it. It wasn't blocked so I didn't see any harm in answering.

Unless it was Jack.

I answered, "I swear, if this is you Jack, I'm gonna-"

"Um," I heard a different voice say, "This is [Name]."

"[Name]!" I gasped. I couldn't believe I was really close to swearing. "Uh, please ignore everything I said before."

"It's fine," I heard her sigh, "I understand Jack has been getting on your case lately. I called to apologize for it."

"Uh," I stood in my room and paced trying to distract myself from the growing feeling of nervousness, "W-Why are you apologizing? And how did you get my number?"

"Mariah knows Astrid and she had your number," she answered, "and I'm apologizing because the reason Jack is acting like that is because of me."

I paused my pacing suddenly, "What do you mean?"

"Well," she hesitated, "he thought it would be funny to mess with you since I seem to talk nonstop about you."

"You," I was speechless, "you talk about me."

"Well, yeah," I could have sworn I heard a stutter! "You're pretty awesome, Henry."

"But," I grinned, happy to hear the news, "I thought you hated me."

"No!" I jumped when I heard her shout. "No, not at all! Henry, when we used to hang out, I thought you were the coolest! I remembered you used to talk about wanting to be an engineer. I was so amazed you had something planned after high school. I don't know a single guy who already had plans like that."

"You don't think that's not uncool?" I hesitatingly asked.

"No," she said gently, "if anything, it inspires me."

I rubbed the back of my neck trying to hide the smile in my voice, "Oh."

"I miss hanging out with you, Henry," I feel like I could melt.

"Then, consider me seeing you tomorrow," I grinned.

Summer Before Forth Year

I couldn't remember feeling so embarrassed before ever in my life.

I'm way too early.

I looked at the watch on my wrist to see it was twenty-five minutes before six thirty.

I guess I could start looking at movie options.

I could feel the stares from multiple people that passed me as I looked at the movie times. It made me all the more nervous. This could be the most typical first date and it could be so boring to her.

You read correctly.

"Hey," I heard [Name] say. She waved as she ran up to me.

I couldn't help but feel my cheeks heat slightly as I stared at her. She looked stunning in nice clothing. She wore a simple black dress that complimented her and she wore light make up even though she really didn't need it.

"Did I make you wait?" she asked shyly.

"Uh, no," I rubbed the back of my neck nervously, "I was just looking at the times. Are you sure you don't want to do something else? I know how boring a movie date could be."

She shook her head, her slightly curly hair swayed with the motion. "No, this is perfect. Besides, I'm a hopeless romantic."

I chuckled, "Same here."

We both went into the movie theater and quickly agreed on a movie to watch. We finally felt comfortable to be closer to each other to the point of her cuddling into my shoulder.

No, I'm not bragging.

Okay, maybe, just a little.

We walked out of the theaters holding hands. She held her heels in her other hands. We talked and laughed about some topics.

"How do you think everyone will react when they find out?" she smiled cutely.

"What, the gang?" I laughed, "They'll probably kill us for not telling them sooner."

She hummed, "True, but I can just imagine Rebecca fainting from being breathless."

We both laughed at that image.

"We'll just have to wait and see on the first day back."

First Day of the Final Year

"What?!" Everyone stared shock as they see the two of us walking to the entrance of the school holding hands.

"Omg!" (Yes, Rebecca really said it in text form.) "When did this happen?"

"A little over a month ago," [Name] answered.

"Why didn't you tell us?!" Jack and Mariah shouted and gave us glares, mostly me.

"Er," I said, "surprise?"

They continued to glare until Jack smirked, "I knew my plan would work."

"Your plan?" Mariah gave him a look.

"Yes, because of my plan, they got together."

"Or," Rebecca injected, "I could have helped with some advice I gave Hiccup."

[Name] and I exchanged a look before staring amusingly at our group.

"Actually," I stepped forward, "it was all thanks to you."

We all smiled at each other in happiness.

"Thanks to all of you," I turned towards [Name]. I pulled our intertwined hands up to have her hand face towards me. She looked at me with a slight hue on her delicate cheeks as I gently kissed the back of her hand. "I'm with the girl of my dreams."

"Aw!"

"That's just gross. Get a room!"

"Get it, Hiccup!"
