A peek into the life of the S.J.D.T. squad
Yesss!!! I beat my goal of getting this finished before Jules' next chapter comes out!

I'm evil. I did it. I had to.
I turned our conversation on Friday into a one-shot. I am so sorry Sage and Solar. I couldn't help it. 😅
And Dolphinsong15, thank you for the info.
CommentsBySolarPax, if you want (and if you have time), here's an example of how weird being part of the Snazzy Jazzy Dependable Transformers squad can get. XD
So this is my first S.J.D.T. one-shot. 😁
I guess we'll see how well I've done on people personality-watching/reading.
Anyways, let's get to the story. As Dragstrip says, "And away we go!"
-----------
It was a pretty normal day in the Autobot base. Most of the bots were out scouting an Energon mine, Tracks was hanging out in a back room repainting himself after one of the twins' tricks, Elita One was in another back room going through things, First Aid was helping Ratchet with whatever-he-works-on-when-the-others-are-out, and the Snazzy Jazzy Dependable Transformers squad members were hanging out by the humans area.
Solar sighed as he watched the other four members get situated on the couch and in the recliner chair. "I'm glad things have quieted down. I wish I could stop having excitement for a while..." Then Telly chuckled a bit. "Careful Solar, don't jinx it." She got a confused look in reply. "What's a jinx? I don't know what that means." So Telly leaned back and gave a short explanation.
"It's like when the good guy says "Is that all you've got?", and then the bad guy pulls out the big guns and pummels them." Solar's optics widened, and he put his hands up. "Yeahhh, I don't want that to happen." Then Sage piped up. "I'll take your excitement for you!" Jules and Telly gave each other a knowing look, and Telly spoke. "Sowwy Sage, but I don't think you'll be able to take this upcoming excitement from him. Unless you two are able to switch bodies."
At that, Solar, Sage and Jules turned and looked at Telly like she was crazy, while Dolphin sat in the recliner with a notebook and pencil, listening and pulling a Soundwave. "What? I can totally imagine it happening." After a couple seconds, though, Solar got wide-eyed. "Wait, how do you know my future? I'm scared for my life..."
Telly gave an evil grin. "Oh, Jules and I were talking a few days ago, and I reminded her of something that she mentioned a while ago..." With that, she poked Jules' shoulder, and Jules laughed. "Yes Solar, fear for your life! Just kidding, I won't kill you. ...yet..." Solar's optics got even wider and he backed away from the raised platform a tiny bit.
As Jules reassured Solar that he would be fine, Dolphin was still thinking about Sage and Solar switching bodies, so she absentmindedly wrote "Solar and Sage switch bodies", and then subconsciously whispered it. But immediately after she did so, she dropped her pencil and covered her mouth, realizing what she had just done.
Instantly, there was a blinding flash of light. When it disappeared, everyone blinked their eyes a couple times. Then, almost synchronously, both Solar and Sage jumped back, and Solar (as Sage) let out a short yelp. Telly and Jules, unaware of what had happened, both looked at the two like there was something wrong with them. "Solar? Sage? What's going on?" Again, synchronously, they both said, "I think we've switched bodies!"
Sage (in Solar's body) began inspecting her new body, balling her servos into fists and releasing them, while Solar lightly tugged at his new hair and clothes. "How can you stand this, Sage? It's really weird. When I'm using my holoform, I still feel normal, just closer to the ground. But this is completely different!" Sage shrugged her shoulders. "At least you were sorta prepared. Going from being human-sized to Bot-sized in less than two seconds without being prepared for it is just a tiny bit overwhelming! Plus, hearing your voice instead of mine when I talk is confusing."
As she spoke, she struggled to take a step, wobbling terribly in the process. "And your legs, why do they have to be so heavy? It feels like I have a thousand pound sand pack around each one." Solar then ran over to the stairway. "Should I get Ratchet for this?" Just then, Dolphin stood up, clutching her notebook tight. "Hey guys, I think this might be my fault. You know how I'm a wordsmith, right? That whenever I write something and then say it aloud, it happens? While you guys were talking about switching bodies, I may have accidentally written Sage and Solar switch bodies and then whispered it, out of habit. And I can't seem to find my pencil to fix it."
Then she, Jules and Telly began looking around the recliner and sofa while Solar (in Sage's body) ran to get Ratchet. Unfortunately, in the process of them moving around to search in different places, the pencil got kicked off the platform and onto the floor, where Sage was trying to take another step. There were several thumps followed by a thud loud enough to shake the raised platform, at which the humans ran to the railing. Sage was sprawled out on the ground, apparently having tripped over her own peds. "I'm ok!"
As she recovered and tried to sit herself up, causing the sound of metal scraping metal, Telly and Jules began running down the stairs toward their friend while Dolphin continued to look for her pencil, until the scraping sound stopped and a round of uh ohs and oh scraps was heard. "Um, Dolphin, I think I found your pencil." Dolphin ran down the stairs, and as soon as she reached the others, they pointed to a spot on the floor under Sage's hand, which was suspended in mid-air. There sat her pencil, extremely flat. When she tried to pick it up, it crumbled into a thousand tiny pieces from her touch. "Scrap."
At that same moment, Solar came in with Ratchet. "Alright, now I'm in here, what's so important that- by the Allspark, Solar, why are you on the ground? What happened?" Sage looked over at Ratchet and smiled sheepishly. "Actually, um, I'm not Solar. I'm Sage," she said hesitantly. Ratchet stared at her for a few seconds, then looked down at Sage's body. "And I'm to assume that you're Solar?" He nodded, and Ratchet faceservoed. "Primus, you five are always getting into trouble one way or another, aren't you?" He got five nods in return. "What happened this time?"
Dolphin blushed with embarrassment and covered her face with her hands, so Jules explained. "Dolphin accidentally used her wordsmith powers to make them switch bodies, and her pencil got broken so they can't be switched back yet. Do you happen to have any pencils laying around anywhere?" Ratchet sighed. "If we do, I wouldn't know where, since we don't need to use them. I suggest waiting for the children to get back from school; perhaps one of them will have one." Then there was an awkward pause. "Well, if you don't need me, I will return to my previous task."
As Ratchet turned and left the room, Dolphin uncovered her face and the others turned to look at each other. "Sooooo, what do we do while we wait?" There was a moment of silence, and then everyone got the same idea at the same time. "TRANSFOOOOOOOORM!!!" "Sage, you need to learn how to transform!" Sage cracked a smile and turned to Solar. "So, how does it happen? How do I make myself transform?" Solar had to stop and think a bit. "I haven't really thought about how it happens, since it kinda just happens. I guess just think about transforming, and you'll do it."
Everyone else moved onto the stairs as Sage stood up and closed her optics. Eventually, her frame began collapsing and folding itself into the shape of a car. Then there was a high pitched shriek and Sage quickly transformed to bot mode, hugging herself and shivering, causing Jules, Telly and Dolphin to run over to her. "What's the matter? Did it hurt? Did something not transform right?" Sage shook her head. "No, I'm fine. It's just that it felt really, really weird, like my body was folded backwards and under me at the same time, yet not. It's really hard to explain. It doesn't hurt, it was just...unexpected."
She shook the shivers out of her frame and straightened up. "Ok, since I now know what to expect, here goes transformation take two." This time, she took it a bit slower, and when she got to vehicle mode, she was able to keep that form. Carefully, she started her engine and slowly drove down the hall into another room, then came back a little faster, and repeated several times. As soon as she felt that she was confident enough about her driving skills, she did several donuts in the center of the room as the others cheered her on.
Just then, Bumblebee and Arcee drove in through the tunnel and just barely stopped in time to avoid crashing into the excited-human-inside-a-Cybertronian-body-doing-donuts. Sage screeched to a halt, transformed and quickly moved to the side as Bulkhead came up behind the other two and pulled to a stop. After letting the kids out, the three Bots transformed and walked over to Sage. "Solar, what did you think you were doing, pealing around the room like that? We could've crashed into you!"
Sage rubbed the back of her helm and nervously chuckled. "Actually I'm Sage. Solar's over there. AndIswearitsnotmyfaultitwasanaccidentandwedon'thaveapencilforDolphintofixitsofornowI'mstuckinSolar'sbody." Bumblebee and Bulkhead looked at each other, and Arcee appeared to have something to say, but then decided not to. "You know what? Never mind. You all are crazy. I'm going to go find Ratchet."
As she walked off, Miko ran up to Sage. "Woah, are you really Sage? Suweet! How'd it happen? Have you figured out how to transform yet? Wait, never mind, that's what you were doing when we came in. Oh well. What did it feel like? How does being in Solar's body feel? Do you like it?" But before Sage had time to answer, Miko ran over to Solar. "What do you think about it? Have you tried eating anything yet? Run barefoot across the concrete? Done a cartwheel? Have you gotten to ride inside yourself?" Solar had to think through what she said before he answered. "Um, well, I think it's really weird, no I have not tried eating anything, what's barefoot mean, no, I haven't, and what's a cartwheel? Was that in the right order?" Miko giggled. "Not exactly, but close enough. I'll explain later."
Jack and Raf began climbing the stairs to put their stuff down when Dolphin stopped them. "Hey, do either of you two have a pencil I could borrow? I accidentally switched them, but then my pencil broke and I can't unswitch them." Jack dug through his pockets and shook his head while Raf looked in his backpack. "Sorry Dolphin, but somehow I don't have any right now. Maybe ask Miko for one of her colored pencils?" Dolphin sighed. "It's better than nothing. As long as she has one, that is. Hey Miko! Do you have any colored pencils I could borrow?" Miko shook her head. "I didn't bring them today. Why do you need one?"
As Dolphin explained again, Telly meanwhile remembered something and facepalmed. "Oh my word, how could I have forgotten about that?" Jules and Solar gave her a funny look, so to show them what she was talking about, she opened up a subspace portal and pulled out a pencil. "Dolphin, I have a pencil for you! And you'll never guess where I found it." As Dolphin took the pencil and ran up to get her notebook, she called back, "Thanks! Where did you find one?" "In subspace!" There was a pause, then a collective groan, and then they all started laughing.
As soon as the laughter settled down, Dolphin wrote "Sage and Solar switch back to their own bodies", and then said it aloud for everyone to hear. There was a flash of light, and things were back to as normal as they get with the S.J.D.T. squad. Just then, Ratchet walked into the room holding a pen. "Dolphin, I don't know if this will do, but I found this while I was working." He handed it to Dolphin who, as soon as she saw what it was, burst out laughing, causing a chain reaction, and eventually everyone was laughing except Ratchet. Dolphin was able to stop long enough to semi-explain. "Don't worry Ratchet, you'll get it someday." As the laughter continued, the medic shook his head and pinched the bridge of his imaginary nose.
"Kids..."
------------
Aaaaand that's it! I really enjoyed writing this one-shot. My sister says that she can always tell when I'm having a conversation with any of you S.J.D.T. members because I have this huge grin on my face, and I'm pretty sure that I had that same grin on my face almost the whole time I was writing this. It was awesome. You guys are the best.
I hope I didn't butcher you guys' personalities. Let me know how I did! Also, for some reason I get the feeling that this is lower quality than my other works, but I can't see how. Maybe it's just because I worked on it at night. Idk.
Writing this really made me think about what it would be like for a human to be in a Cybertronian body and how it would feel doing different things. It's actually quite interesting to think about, especially the transforming part. When I'm writing, I like to "feel" what the characters are feeling so that I can better understand what to write and how to write it, so the feeling of transforming for the first time was a...unique feeling, to say the least. Not unpleasant, just different, and strange. And it wasn't even fully the feeling I wrote it to be, yet it kinda was, yet it wasn't. XD
But I wonder, how many other writers do that? Like, almost completely put themselves in the characters' shoes?
Anyways, that's all for this chapter! I hope you enjoyed a peek into the strange life of the Snazzy Jazzy Dependable Transformers!
