The Only Way Out (OLD)

Steven sat on his bed and looked at his phone. He's been trying to get in contact with Connie for a few weeks now, yet she hasn't even responded.

He didn't know what he did wrong. Well, he did know, but he didn't understand why she was this mad at him. He just wanted her to talk to him again, he wanted this all to be done and overwith, to be forgiven already.

Words couldn't put into perspective how much he was hurting right now. He just got back from Homeworld, from seeing a friend die an reviving him, using him as a way to get back home, and now his closest friend hates him.

He just wanted this all to end, he wanted every inch of emotional pain in his body to go away. He didn't want it, he just wanted to ---

He stopped staring at his phone and looked up at the ceiling. A small thought immediately came to mind, and he sat up on his bed and turned his phone off. He knew what he was thinking was dark, but at the same time it seemed so satisfying.

He got up off his bed and walked down the stairs. Pearl, Amethyst, and Garnet were all sitting on the couch talking to each other. He just let out a small sigh and headed toward the door. "I'll be back, guys," he told them as he walked out.

He headed down the stairs and walked toward the ocean, sitting down on the beach. He watched the water slowly go back and fourth, and he seemed to be hypnotized by its movement. It was crazy how something that filled up most of the Earth could be such a dangerous thing.

He shook his head to break free from his thoughts and looked around to make sure nobody was watching and summoned his bubble. He sighed and slowly walked into the water, and continued walking until it was deep enough to where the bubble sank.

He never knew why his bubble always sank to the bottom, but he didn't seem to mind. He just let it continue to sink, and he looked out at the ocean while it was. It really was a beautiful place down here, and he was glad that this was going to be the last thing he'd ever see.

Once his bubble touched the ocean floor he stopped staring and let out another sigh once again. He closed his eyes as he slowly made his bubble go away, and that's when his plan started to kick in.

Water immediately went into his mouth and started to fill his lungs. He coughed a little bit, and his body started to struggle. He felt his chest start to burn as he slowly saw black around the edges of his vision. He felt the world around him get darker and darker as his body started to go limp.

He could've sworn he heard a voice shouting his name and a dark shadow resembling Garnet swimming toward him. A hand touched his chest and he felt himself being swam upward, but deep down he knew that even if he were brought back up to the surface, it would be too late.

Because even before Garnet managed to get him out of the water, he had already stopped breathing.

He was already dead.

(A/N) A shorter one-shot that's actually Steven Universe this time around and is also a vent. I'm gonna be honest, I almost cried in Gemcation when Steven ran away crying about Connie because of how much I can relate to him. Never has the show (or any Fanart, Fanfictions, etc) ever made me cry, let alone make me even want to cry. Kudos to Steven Universe for that, seriously, good job

Anyway, that's really all. Yeah this was crappy, sorry about that. If you did enjoy this one, it'd be nice if you'd vote and comment. Thanks for reading :)...
