All TOHO Made Godzilla Films To Cable TV Stations, Video Platforms and Etc

A/N: okay, so there's more Godzilla news going on. However, this time, it's on the previous 29 films that TOHO had produced (at least for Live action). Anyway, all the bold words after the picture are all from Gomaru's Twitter thread on this news.

TOHO Officially Announces 'GODZILLA: GENESIS' ------ Offering All 29 TOHO Made Godzilla Films To Cable TV Stations, Video Platforms, Etc

Just a few days ago TOHO attended Mipcom, and there, in celebration of Godzilla's 65th anniversary, held a panel and unveiled their next towering step in expanding the Godzilla brand worldwide, 'GODZILLA: Genesis".

In 1954 TOHO CO., LTD. introduced the world to Godzilla, and except for a few Hollywood collaborations they've kept the King of the Monsters to themselves. But for its 65th anniversary this fall Toho is celebrating by spreading the gospel of Godzilla to the rest of the world.

"We're very excited to revitalize the original series of 29 feature films, says Takaaki Nakazawa, head of global licensing for Toho during an interview at the company, Tokyo headquarters. "Audiences have always appreciated the franchise, and now we feel the time is right "

Toho is excited to be able to offer all 29 films, either as a package or separately, to international broadcasters, cable stations and video platforms for the very first time.

"For the first time they'll also increase localization by providing production entities with music and effects soundtracks so that individual films can be dubbed into other languages. The #Godzilla films produced by Toho have so far not been dubbed, with very few exceptions"

And this next line of bold words is in regards to the toyline bit. It comes from an article on lapresse.ca.

At age 65, Godzilla is not yet time for retirement: the Japanese Toho studio wants to take advantage of the recent successes of the movie monster to revive its heritage films, but also cartoons, clothes and a watch .

Toho presented at Mipcom, the grand mass of television in Cannes, a series of cartoons based on the "kaiju" (giant monster), which should be broadcast soon, and editing clips of his greatest films.

Objective of the studio: "revitalize Godzilla in the coming years," told AFP Michiyo Hayashi, in charge of marketing.

The large Japanese studio also offered Mipcom its catalog of 29 films produced since 1954, including Ebirah against Godzilla (1966) or Godzilla vs Space Godzilla (1994). Most of them had very limited circulation outside Japan, with very few dubbing.

The beast of the Pacific Ocean has yet ravaged the screens in 2014 with a film of the American studio Legendary Pictures (owned by Chinese group Wanda), before a 2 e opus mixed success early 2019 and especially a collision with King Kong character Warner Bros., expected in March 2020.

Warner and Legendary have started to develop a "Monsterverse", a galaxy of 17 monsters (for now) that should inspire many movies alongside the Marvel Avengers and DC Comics characters.

Toho also produced Godzilla Resurgence (2016), a success in Japan.

After whiskeys and sakes stamped Godzilla, the derivatives, which he took over in 2014, should also multiply: a toy line in January 2020, a future partnership with a major brand of clothing and a watch whose bracelet imitates the skin of the monster.

Godzilla could also be honored on the tatami of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, the Japanese judo team having chosen as official nickname.

In a Japan that was painfully recovering from the disaster of war, Godzilla's first film was a huge success. The creature is awakened by nuclear tests and begins to swim to the shores of Japan to sow terror as an allegory of a nuclear disaster.

Godzilla, whose name derives from Gojira, the contraction in Japanese of the words "gorilla" and "kujira" (whale), "is an essential element of pop culture," said Michiyo Hayashi. "If it represented destruction and natural disasters, it has become a symbol of renewal."

And that's all of it. So yeah, Godzilla's previous TOHO films are all likely getting shown off in tv and any video platforms. However, this is excluding the 1998, 2014, King of The Monsters and The Anime Trilogy films. So that's kinda disappointing, but still cool non the less.

And judging from a part that was brought about a cartoon series, we may finally see a rise in Godzilla related cartoons again.

(I also saw something about them bringing up DC and Marvel, but I wasn't sure about that).
