Where I stand with the Godzilla Anime Trilogy (So far)

A/N: so, with the news of the 3rd anime film in place and we have yet to know the release date of the 2nd film on Netflix. But I thought I should still at least give out on where I stand with the Godzilla anime series. So far, anyway.

Welp to start things off. As some of us know, the Godzilla anime trilogy is mainly something from toho to keep us interested in Godzilla still until we get another the other Godzilla film, that being the second legendary Godzilla film. So yeah, they're really not putting much into the films due to this. This does kinda sadden me a bit since they didn't really focus all that much on these 3 films. But I don't try to let this cloud my judgment of the series.

Let's go over some of the negatives first.

The not so good stuff would be the characters. At first, I kinda liked them. But I guess that they didn't leave much of an impression the other time around. And I heared the sequel didn't do much improvements for them. But I can at least say that they were alright for what it's worth.

The second one would haft to be the lack of other kaiju within the series ad only some of them were seen in the opening. You'll haft to read the prequel novels to know what the other kaiju are. It's not too bad. It just kinda sucks a bit since it would've been interesting to see what a post apocalyptic kaiju infested world would be like.

The next one would haft to be the pacing. The film kinda takes a while to start getting interesting. And when it gets to the point, it's not too interesting that you would first hope. But still good enough.

(Possible spoiler for second anime film ahead. Skip now if you don't want to be possibly spoiled).

The last one was something that I heard from a few people who said they saw the film. They said that despite the major being advertised alot for the film when it was coming up, Mechagodzilla was said to have never been activated at all in it. But I'm not too sure about it. And even of he wasn't activitied in the second one, maybe it'll be for the 3rd one.

Positives.

I enjoy the things like how they changed to story where earth became overran by kaiju and taken over, forcing humans to leave the planet. However, the films title kinda misleads us a bit due to the fact that there weren't any kaiju on the planet after 20,000 except Godzilla Earth, Godzilla Filius and the Servum. So it was a use to be kaiju planet. Though, there could be other kaiju around the planet still that might not have faced Godzilla's wrath.

The timeline of the series is kinda of an interesting one. It goes over all the major kaiju attacks that happen before humans finally had to leave earth. Here's a video down here that can explain it in a more better fashion if you'd like.

A major positive is Godzilla himself. This one is definitely much different from the previous toho version since he kinda acts like the embodiment of nature in a way. And the first film shows this as over 20,000 years, Godzilla had basically make earth his kingdom. He made the plant life much different from when it was before, created cell divided offspring and parasites known as servum and was unchallenged by both man and kaiju due to his incredible size and power. He even managed to destroy the celestial body, gorath. That was an insane fest that hardly anyone in that series could even do. We probably haven't even seen everything he's got yet either. So Godzilla was a definite positive to this series.

So where I stand with this series? I think it's a pretty swell one. It has a lot of flaws going on with it. But it's doesn't get too overshadowed at least. I just at least hope that the 3rd and final film will at least try make things a lot more better and can give an great if not amazing finale to the anime series.
