The Ponds: After

*If you haven't noticed, I have a slight Pond obsession. And by slight I mean huge. Whoops not really sorry.*

Rory and Amelia Williams, stuck together in 1938. Lost all friends and family and worst of all, The Doctor, their best friend. They stayed in New York City for the rest of their days, waiting for their untimely demise.

A year had passed living this new life. They laid in the same spot they last saw The Doctor, reading his book. The place they waited for Rory to come back with their coffees. It was night time and the stars shone brighter than ever before. Amy asked, "Do you miss him?"

Rory looked to her, "All the time. Do you think he misses us?"

She closed her eyes and curled her lips together, letting a tear roll down the side of her face. She inhaled sharply before speaking, "I know he misses us. His Ponds," she giggled a little and sniffled, "I thought that maybe time would make this easier on us, but it hasn't yet."

Rory reached for her hand and intertwined their fingers together. He stared up at the sky. He questioned, "Do you ever regret your choice of coming here?"

She shook her head, "Of course not! I love you and all I wanted was us to grow old together. I never wanted it any other way. As long as I was with you, I didn't care about anything else."

"You gave up your best friend for me," Rory stated.

"He was your best friend too. You were forced to give him up. That's what love is, giving up everything else for the other and that's okay. We're okay."

Rory sighed, "I hope he's okay. I hope he's happy and not moping around. We still will live long and happy lives."

"He doesn't like endings though. I just don't want him to feel guilty this time. It isn't his fault we're stuck. He needs to stop blaming himself for these things. I hope he found someone new and is traveling again. It worries me when he is alone in that big box of his. He'll turn into a lonely and grouchy old man. I don't want that. I want him to be happy."

Rory agreed, "I think he is happy because he knows we're happy and together. He'll find someone again. He always does. The Doctor doesn't travel alone."

She smiled a little and wiped away an oncoming tear. She spoke, "He's out there somewhere among the stars. A place very few humans have ever been and you know what? We made it there, Rory. We've been to places people could only imagine in their dreams. It was the most wonderful thing while it lasted. We got to see and fight pirates. I fell in love with a man who waited two thousand years to keep me safe. I gave hope to the greatest painter who ever lived. And not to mention saving a whale in outer space. We lived long and great lives, Rory, in our short lifetimes."

Rory chuckled, "I don't know about you, but two thousand years was a very very long lifetime for me."

She looked at him, smiling and squeezed his hand a little. She said, "Oh shush. But I have a feeling we're going to be okay, he's going to be okay. Everything is going to be just okay. I can feel it."

They both looked up at the sky and could swear they saw a shooting star. They sat up quickly, believing the impossible. Amy asked, "It can't be him? Right?"

Rory looked around and a voice came from behind. They turned around quickly, hopes far higher than the stars above them. A man spoke, "Make a wish on that shooting star, ey?"

But it wasn't The Doctor. Their hearts sunk as they sat down in the grass again. What they didn't see is The Doctor standing behind a tree, trying to hold back the horribly humane tears. He had listened to them. To everything they spoke of. He wanted to say hello, but knew it wouldn't be fair. He knew he had to let them live their lives. He wasn't ready to say goodbye once again. He couldn't change time again, but he knew-oh he knew that he was loved and missed by The Ponds. He'd be loved always.

He walked away into the night, just a few meters away from saying hello. He couldn't do it. He couldn't say hello, when he knew he would have to say goodbye once again. He smiled as his pace quickened and soon he was in a dead run for the TARDIS. With a smile on his face and ambition stronger than ever before. He set out on his next adventure. He finally had closure.

But every once in awhile he came back, he always came back. He needed to check on his precious Ponds. He stood in the shadows, far away from their sight. They felt his presence, but could never know for sure that it was their old, old friend watching over them. Anything important in their life, he was always there, watching from afar.
Their Raggedy Man.
