FROSTED PAGES
I was initially nervous when I saw the host was the TEEN FIX community (teenagers? hosting a contest that was inviting writers of mature and erotic stories, in addition to general literature and LGBTQIAPK+?) but AprilJester said not everybody in that community is an actual teenager.
Okay.
With some reservations, I entered Ancilla and Morsels: Tales of Love and Passion. I advised the hosts that the erotic material in Morsels is easily avoided if my judge is a young person - anything with an asterisk is absolutely adults only due to being sexually explicit. As for Ancilla, I requested an adult judge if one was available, explaining that a judge who did not want to read sexually explicit passages could avoid them by reading the serialized edition of Ancilla and avoiding asterisked passages, but the book would not make much sense that way, because the sexually explicit sections convey a great deal of character development, and this is a character-driven story...
We'll see. As it is, both of the books fit what the hosts are requesting to a T.
UPDATE (3/16/2025)

Review: This novel is a truly unique work unlike any I've ever read before. Not only does it portray relatable characters that butcher the erotic fiction stereotypes, but it also masquerades as a sort of text guide to sex being used as a tool for enlightenment through the magickal arts. I seriously learned so much about esoteric studies through this work of fiction. Amazing! Everything written in this book was so delightfully engaging that I never found myself bored or irritated. My one issue with this book is that I don't think the content of the prologue was used to its fullest potential. I believe that the emotional impact on readers could be greatly enhanced if the narrator's sexual awakening is presented alongside her magickal awakening, whether through flashbacks or narrative memories. But, even so, this book is still a truly impressive work with awesome slow-burn erotic academia vibes, plus stellar queer and neurodivergent representation. Now, doesn't that sound fun to read?
TOTAL: 98/100
I really wish I'd been more specific about which books i entered in what categories...
It looks like I entered Ancilla in Most Relatable Protagonist, Best Couple, and... main competition? (I don't see any genres listed in the competition book).
Morsels in... a bunch of special categories, plus... main competition?
And at the last minute, What Is Told: A Conglomeration of Confabulations in Best Cover. (I got a second place for that).
