"Vikk...?" Josh asked, a look of disbelief on his face as he stepped closer to the pool, peering at his friend in the clear water.

Vikk didn't reply, his face pale as he stared at his friend with wide eyes, pressing his body close to the rim of the inground pool in an unsuccessful effort to hide himself from his friend.

"J-Josh!" Vikk stammered, "What are you doing here?!"

"I was trying to figure out where you went..." Josh replied, his voice sounding distracted. "Now it looks like I know where you always run off to. And I can guess why."

Vikk went silent for a moment. "Is it too late to say that this isn't what it looks like?"

"Seriously? What do you think?"

"You can't tell the others about this!" Vikk yelled, a pleading tone in his voice that made Josh feel a twinge of guilt.

"Why not?"

"Just look at me! Who knows what the guys will think about this! What are you even thinking?!"

Josh frowned at the scared tone is his friend's voice, but he thought about his friend's question for a moment. "I won't. Honestly, I don't even know what to think. Do... Do you want to tell me how this happened?"

Vikk smiled, relieved that Josh listened to him. "Where do you want me to start?"

Josh returned his smile, before pointed to the water behind where Vikk was floating. "How about with that...? Are you what I think you are?"

Because underneath the water, attached to Vikk's hip, was a long tail covered in sleek blue scales, ending with a translucent red fin flowing in the water, seemingly having replaced his legs.

Vikk chuckled grimly.

"It really is quite the story..."

(I'll update with an actual plot later... Just thought of this scene and really liked it.)
