Jayfeather padded to the Moonpool with the path he had memorized for many moons, he walked with the other medicine cats, Mothwing, Willowshine, Mudfur, and Littlecloud. As they sat around the pool and closed their eyes.
Jayfeather opened his eyes and saw the familiar terrain, the white barked trees, the light blue grass, and the stars along the sky.
"Greetings, Jay's Wing," Half Moon greeted.
Jayfeather's eyes widened, "H-Half Moon?" He gasped in disbelief.
Half Moon let out a soft purr, "Yes, it's me," she stated, "I came to give you a visit."
Jayfeather could tell something was wrong, "Half Moon... what's wrong?" he asked, concern lining his voice.
"Well," Half Moon replied, "I just came because... well... Jay's Wing... I just needed to know something..."
Jayfeather nodded, prodding her on.
"Wh-Why..." She regained her composure, "Why did you leave me...?"
Jayfeather's mouth went as dry as paper, his mind scrambling for words to explain, "Half Moon, I never wanted to leave you, I would never want to leave you, but... I had to return to my own time. I wanted to stay with you, I really did, if I had the chance I probably would. But my clan needed me, The Great Battle was rising, and I couldn't leave my Clan without a Medicine Ca-er, Healer."
Half Moon nodded submissively, just focusing on not crying, especially in front of Jayfeather.
Jayfeather inched closer, wrapping a comforting tail around her, "I'm sorry. I didn't want to, I had to."
Half Moon felt a tear run down her face, 'Mouse dung,' she thought, she knew more would come and she couldn't stop them now.
Jayfeather's eyes widen as he saw her cry and tried to comfort her, "Half Moon, we're together no-"
"-You left me! All a-alone, leading a Tribe by myself, wondering 'When is Jay's Wing returning?', 'Am I doing something wrong?' But then I find myself here... now finding out that you weren't even supposed to be with my tribe... that you belonged to a cl-clan from the future! A-And I was so confused, a-and sad, and l-lonely... and-and..." Half Moon stuttered, shoulders shaking from her sobbing.
Jayfeather sat there, watching the love of his life crying in front of him, and not knowing what to do. He's never felt so helpless.
"L-Look Half Moon, I-I'm sorry..." Jayfeather started, "I know it seems like I didn't care or something, but I would've given anything to live a long happy life with you, and to be your mate, and maybe even a father... and I know we can still live happily among the stars, but I also know it won't be the same. And that's fine, I mean, our love went past the barriers of time! And I still love you."
"B-But you're still alive... I don't understand how someone like you would want an old dead cat like me when you have a clan filled with young beautiful she-cats, probably dreaming to be your mate," Half Moon replied, tears still falling down her face.
Jayfeather whipped away her tears away with his tail as he smiled lightly to her, "Because none of them are you. And for me, you are the best, most beautiful she cat that ever existed in my world."
Half Moon smiled back, leaning into his short soft fur as they watched the stars in the sky.
