Lewis Pepper is a poor cook from a family of six. He has no memory of his past before he was adopted by his parents, and he yearns to find out who he was before he came to live with his family. Then, when his youngest sister, a girl with the power of telling prophecies, is taken captive by the evil Horned Queen with the intent of finding the Black Cauldron, a magical cauldron that can summon an army of the undead, Lewis sets out to rescue her and find the Black Cauldron before the Horned Queen does and summons an army of undead that will destroy everything he loves.

Accompanying him is his childhood sweetheart, Vivi Yukino, her supernatural dog Mystery, and a mysterious blacksmith named Arthur, and both Vivi and Arthur will challenge Lewis in ways he never thought possible.

But it's something they all want, more than anything.
