Chapter 1
As the sun rose high and the birds began their morning chirping and singing, the queen awoke with them as well, a soft smile on her lips, her face showing comfort and slightly sleepy state. A small yawn escaped her mouth as she slowly sat up, holding her hands above herself as she stretched, her back letting out some cracking sounds, making her let out a sigh of relief as the feeling rushed through her whole body. Her snake was sleeping on the nearby small nest, decorated with all sorts of jewellery on the outside, but the inside was made from the finest silk anyone could find by miles. There was also some leftover food in it, consisting of beetles and insects of different kind. The scaled royalty soon awoke as well, and got onto finishing last night's meal while its owner went to get a refreshing morning shower.
After some time a servant had arrived, gently knocking on the door to announce their presence before opening the door and looking inside "My Queen, breakfast is ready, and the charriot you wanted is ready to leave any time you want." They informed, looking over to the other as they came out from the bathroom in the regular royalty clothes
"That's good to hear, please tell the others that I will be down soon." the queen asked, which the servant nodded to and left after closing the door, going to tell the others waiting downstairs that she would be there soon
Once the door closed she let out a soft sigh and walked over to the nest, reaching her hand to it and smiling as her snake slithered up her arm "Good morning dear, it's time for breakfast." she told, then headed to the door once she put her crown on, the snake hissing softly as it wrapped around the little handle that was designed into the shoulder pad for it to hold onto. She took graceful and gentle steps as to not disturb the little passenger, humming a little tune as well to entertain herself.
Once downstairs she made her way to the dining area, greeting and being greeted by the others already there while she took her seat at the front, letting her partner slither onto the table to pick out what to eat as the table had all kinds of meals on it: soups, main dishes, exotic foods and delicious desserts for everyone to enjoy.
She joined into the small talks the others were holding, giving a small smile to everyone nearby and the other snakes that were roaming around them. She let out a giggle or two at a few puns spoken, and told some of her own as well to lighten the mood. They were keeping up their spirit until the king would arrive, the father of the afformentioned queen.
After a while the hall doors opened up, revealing a fancy dressed man with a crown on his head. He greeted everyone before making his way to the table and taking a seat next to his daughter "Good morning Aviya, I see you are already awake." He said with a gentle and warming tone, having a small smile on his face.
"Good morning Father, I see you awoke with quite a happy mood if I can say so." She greeted back just as warmly, a playful smile on her face "And I suppose that's because of the festival coming up this week, correct ?" She asked with a bit of intrigue in her innocent yet mature eyes
"You are correct my dear, since it will be the biggest and most grand event since the peace treaty with the people of the marshes. I'm really glad I can spend some time with you, as these past years have been very busy for the both of us really."
He answered her, taking a bite of food after doing so. The others have joined into the talk soon as well, filling themselves with the delicious food presented on the table. One after another the servants brought out other meals as well, and soon after a few hours everyone was done with breakfast. They finished their conversations then headed out to start their day.
Aviya on the other hand decided she wanted to hang around in the garden for a while first while her father worked. The sweet scent of hundreds of flowers washed over her as she opened the door of the greenhouse. She went inside and closed the door behind herself, not wanting to spoil the air inside with the harsh winds from outside. She took a look around then hummed as she headed to check out some orchids first, her snake slithering into the leaves, travelling around the branches as it enjoyed the feeling of nature around.
They spent a few hours there, admiring the beautiful colours and small butterflies flying around. The snake had even attempted to catch one, but it got away in time, and decided to settle on the head of its attacker. Aviya let out a giggle at the scene, examining the shiny wings of the tiny passenger on her companion. It was an iridescent blue, mixed with a few green and red spots here and there, creating a beautiful mix of colours. After a while it flew away as the other two watched it, then the queen turned to her friend
"I wonder how it would feel like to soar in the sky so carelessly and free." She said as she pet the other's head gently, who coiled around her hand in a gentle grip and hissed softly.
"It's quite a relief the festival had already started, i wouldn't be able to wait another month for it to start." The snake hissed on agreement, flicking its tounge as it curled up in her hand "And it will be good to have you out too you lazy songbird." At that an annoyed hiss was an answer, making Aviya chuckle softly.
"Lets get going now Croa, the others are waiting." She exclaimed as she headef out to meet with her father and head to the town together.
