Why is it that in like every book series at least one of the main character's parents die
I'm gonna list some parentage problems
Divergent- both parents dead
THG- Dads dead (or Apollo according to theories)
TMR- ALL OF THEM ARE SHUCKING DEAD OKAY LEAVE ME ALONE *Cries forever*
PJO/HoO- all of the characters mom's are either goddesses or dead, except Percy who's father is a god
The Selection- Dads gone
Throne of Glass- bye bye parents
. . .
Can y'all think of any who are alive? (AND NOT IN REALISTIC FICTION BOOKS)

So, advice for when the apocalypse happens.
