Tutorial 2
Guess who's back? Back again. Mandi's back. Tell your friends!
Hello! And welcome to cover tutorial number two! Today we are making the cover shown above.
Step One: Go to google and look for pngs of the people you want to use. A png is a picture without a background.
Step Two: I did this in Phonto; add a plain white image [1:1] and click the menu (three lines) and click the 'Add Item' option. If you scroll down, you should find the circle outline. Add it to you picture (make it black and about 320 in size).
Don't put it in the middle. Make it predominantly in the bottom of the white background. Save. (You can actually just take a screenshot of this one).
Step Three: Open PicsArt and add the circle image. Click the 'Add Image' option and add one of your PNGs. We want the top bit (and maybe the sides, it's up to you) to overlap the circle - the person is supposed to end up looking like they're 'coming out' of the circle. To rub out the bottom bits, use the eraser tool (which you'll find at the top of the screen). You can reduce the opacity of the person so that you can easily see where the circle outline starts. This is what you want to end up with:
Do this with the other two PNGs.
Step 4: Get a plain white image of Wattpad book cover size (as I've previously explained, I don't know the dimensions. I use the Wattpad Book Covers app).
Now, you want to place your three images nicely on the background (you can use Phonto and add the images or you can use PicsArt). I did it like this:
If you choose to do it in Phonto, make sure you crop the image to a circle when you insert it. This prevents the overlapping of the plain white background.
Step Five: In Phonto, add your text. For this cover I used the following fonts:
If you don't have them, you can download them from dafonts.com (I've explained how in a previous chapter).
Play around with the setup until you're happy. Mine came out like this:
Step Six: So now the cover can technically be done, but it's pretty plain. Let's add some fun elements to it! Google PNGs of different things that will go with your cover. These will be added in in PicsArt. For Cara's circle, I chose palm tree leaves (I put them in because I'm nice):
(I couldn't find a good PNG so when I put it in, I blended it in with the 'Darken' option')
For Ariana and Zayn, I searched for stickers on PicsArt. Blend them in with 'Darken' and rub out to make sure they don't overlap into the circle:
If you look closely, you can see the glitter around Zayn's circle went onto my user, so I went back to Phonto and added the text again on top so that it was fixed!
Step Seven: Last element, I used the app 'Afterlight' but this was an app I had to buy. You can google speckles if you can't buy or don't have the app.
In Afterlight, you're going to click the dusty option. I used option 11.
And then I was done (final product is above, in case you forgot). This one wasn't very great, but I hope it can give you inspiration for an awesome edit CAUSE I HAVE FAITH IN YOU!
If you need any help, I'm just a comment or private message away.
