Writer's aid! (an initiative)
Quite a few times, following the initial screening, we unfortunately have to reject a few stories rather than proceeding towards the trial round. This is a BookClub that aims to provide support and motivation to the emerging writers, as well as help them receive detailed feedback upon the strength and weaknesses of their stories. The accepted stories, after completing the trial rounds are paired and placed for the regular assignments. However, here we are talking about the stories that fail to reach the other side of the screening.
There is no such personal reason for rejecting a form. The BookClub members usually/mostly write their feedback based on aspects such as Character depth, representation, execution, flow. If the story lacks these points, the feedbacks help them understand the gap and how to mend it. However, the major reason for rejecting a form is the gap in grammar and writing. If the stories have gone through at least some basic editing and have commanded the punctuation, tense, spacing - the readability allows the members to leave critical comments. Critiques can be a harsh zone when it comes to writing. Henceforth, we believe the writers can accept and receive better feedbacks if their stories have undergone the grammatical editing. We heartily accept stories that have good (readable) grip on technicalities.
We are starting a new initiative to help the rejected forms.
This step will help us to support the new writers, as well as make them feel more included. The writers whose forms have been rejected, will have an option to work on their initial screening process with our team of "Writer's aid" - them who will work closely with the writer and provide them with detailed review and resources to learn about intricacies of writing.
📌 While rejecting a form, we generally provide certain pointers (key takeaways) that the writers can work upon to improve their work. They are more than free to work independently with the points provided on their own.
📌 In case someone needs more help, and detailed feedback + resources, they can refer to this chapter and fill out the form below. One of the helpers will be assigned to help through the initial screening. This process is solely for book club members only. The writers who have applied for the book club and have been, in case, rejected - only they can avail the writer's aid help.
📌 The writer's aid won't work with writers till the end of their story. Rather, they will provide all the help till they ensure the writer is ready to get into the BookClub. This is not a permanent or long term service. For the long run, we advice the writers to seek an Editor's help. This initiative is not open for the accepted stories (obvious reasons!).
