Review XVI: Love, Pierce
Rating: F
I'm only going to be grading the prologue because I don't include casts and there's no other chapters.
Now let's hold onto our hats, and hear me out. Even in an F there are things I like somewhere.
The very first thing that I noticed that I liked was the fact of having the prologue before the cast because you can get your readers hooked. You hold some good views of love from your character's perspective.
But, this ultimately adds nothing to the story. It sounds like the opening narration of a 2003 B class movie as we zoom in on some woman's apartment through a window. We aren't introduced to the characters, setting, plot, or much of that matter. If you want a prologue you'll have to set in stone at least a few of these elements. Others will say you need all of them, but everyone's different.
Furthermore, your prologue is bad, outright. Why? Because it's a plain old copy and paste of the description. For the people who read the description not only do they get to skim over the same damn thing but they get to see the same typo twice!
For your sake, I will tell you this. It's ineffective. You hold real, true emotions in that prologue, but do so, so little with them. It's like untapped potential. I do recommend you start with real story and character that encompass those emotions instead of a prologue that just sits them down and does nothing with them.
Don't let this review get you down. Like I said, you have real, true emotions in there. Genuine ones. If you want hooked readers you'll have to do something with them.
And as always:
Never. Stop. Writing.
Good luck and I hope this review finds yo in good health in these troubling times.
