Chapter 3: You Can't Be Serious
I was running through the words allowing to be pulled toward a water source about 2 miles ahead. I was skittering past trees and bushes not allowing myself to stop.
While terror still spiked my heart I slowed my breathing and heightened my senses and allowed them to flow around me and tell me if there was danger around.
Apparently, it didn't much as I just had enough time to dodge this fireball that would've sizzled my feet into nothing.
"Don't you know it's rude to fire, fireballs at people." I taunted as I quickly got back to my feet and looked at the monster that fired the blast.
Instantly words died on my tongue as I stared up...and up...and up at the creature in front of me. "You can't be serious." I said my face blank as I stared at the roaring creature that was the Hydra. (How I knew what it was...don't ask me).
The giant creature apparently didn't like my tone of voice as two of the...what seven heads hissed at me while another two readied a fireball.
The last three were growling and snapping at me. At least I know if this monster wants a conversation or not
"You just remind me of an overgrown puppy that's owner was an asshole." I said unamused as I watch the Hydra have some sort of temper tantrum.
Clearing my words are affecting it in a negative sort of way as I had to dodge two hateful blasts of fire.
"Clearly you don't know greetings. This is the part where I introduce myself nicely and you do the same. Then we walk away as if nothing ever." I said with a tint of annoyance.
The Hydra growled again and I decided that was as much of a greeting as I was gonna get and looked up at the Hydra, "My name is Percy Jackson-"
Almost instantly another three fireballs were sent my way and I had to duck behind a rock, "Clearly we got off on the wrong foot...paw...claw whatever, is the walking away still an option?" I asked and then covered my head as a fireball was sent over the rock, burning the tree behind it.
"Clearly I angered you really badly when I had my memories." I muttered to myself as I readied my sword and shield.
Hearing the hissing of the Hydra getting closer I closed my eyes and felt for the disgusting head of Medusa.
I can't believe I'm about to do something else that can be labeled stupid if it doesn't work. Feeling the back of my hairs on my neck stand up as the heat emitting from the Hydra get closer I took one last deep breath before leaping out and throwing the glasses off Medusa's head and had the head face the Hydra.
The creaking was the first thing I noticed after a few tense seconds.
The second, how creepy the hairs of Medusa really were. Like...yuck. Scrunching my nose in disgusting I opened my eyes and watched as the Hydra turned into freaking stone from a decapitated Medusa.
Ok, that is actually kinda cool, in a disturbing kind of way.
Whipping my hands and putting the shades back on Medusa, I carefully wrapped her head once more and gave the Hydra one last look.
Hopefully there won't be anymore interruptions as I figure out a way out of this weird monster infested area.
One last look in the clearing and I started my way back down toward where my senses were calling me.
At least I was before I heard this whimpering sound.
Ignore it.
Ignore it.
Dammit I can't ignore it.
Sighing I turned right and trudged toward the whimpering sound while drawing my sword.
I started toward a clearing and carefully moved .
What I saw wasn't what I expected.
"Hey!" I yelled at the dog-like creatures that were crowding around a small one of them, "Shoo, leave the pup alone." I said and even made the shooing motions to go along with what I was saying.
Ok...maybe this was a bad idea. I watched as the largely dogs, monster-truck size really, turn around and stared at me for a second before growling at me.
I looked at the small dog that was pressed against the tree and watched as it looked from the large dogs to me.
Puffing it's chest he squirmed past the large dogs to me. After a small inner debate and figuring that it wasn't an attack I focused back on the larger dogs.
Readying my sword I watched as they started to circle me and the now pressed against my legs, small puppy.
Watching, I analyzed the dogs and figured that their bulky size might not let them turn as quickly or look up that much.
With a weird plan in mind, I motioned for the pup to go to the side and watched as it hesitantly did. Now, with it just being the large dogs that looked like they belong in Hell, and I, I started to watch the leader dog also watch me.
Almost instantly the fight begun as I dodged a snap of the mouth and swipe of a claw, I jumped over one of the dogs and as it turned I slide underneath it and ran my sword under it's belly.
Without stopping I turned and dodged another attack as I used my foot on it's mouth like some spring-board and jump onto it's back and stabbed downward.
As it disappeared in gold dust I connected with the ground in a roll and rolled right almost at the last second and then slide underneath another monster dog and frowned when I was glistened in gold dust.
Yuck. Now faced off with two monster dogs, only one being the big, bad, boss. I watched as one went to the right of me and the other left.
Trapping me between them I tensed my legs as a plan formed in my mind. Watching the two, I watched as the two started to run at me at the same time and at the last possible second I jumped in the air away from the two.
I turned around in time to watch the lower, nonboss disintegrate into gold dust with the bosses claws stuck into it's chest.
"Run." I said dangerously to the now-scared dog that looked around for anymore dogs to use instead of fighting himself.
I watched as the boss analized me for a second, looked at the pup, then started to walk away. After feeling like it was enough away, I felt this small ball of fluff rub against my pants.
"Hey there puppy." I said grinning and brushing my hands through the hair of the dog. I felt the dog rub against the hand and smiled wider.
"What's your name hmm?" I wondered as I felt for some sort of identification. When I found nothing I frowned for a second then smiled, "Mrs.O'Leary it is then." I said then laughed with the puppy started to yelp excitedly and stood on my knee and lick my face.
"Down Girl." I said and pushed her off and stood up.
"Let's get through the deathtrap hmm?" I asked and when she yipped excited and started to follow me, I for once in this place had a smile on my face.
I might not know who I am or where I come from, but I have a friend now. That's what matters right now.
