My Universe
Coldplay feat. BTS

"You (you), you are (you are) my universe
And I (I) just want (just want) to put you first
And you (you), you are (you are) my universe."

If I'm nervous about meeting my parents, how does Crystal feel just now? Maybe it was not a good idea to bring her here without saying anything to them. I confessed to them that I had a girlfriend, days before flying to Seoul. My mother didn't react very happily when I told her that she was not Korean. But the biggest shock to her was when she heard she couldn't speak our language.

Mom and Dad aren't fluent in English, they barely understand anything. I'm curious how they'll react to my love, Crystal. It was an impulsive decision to take my woman with me but I don't want to hide anymore. My future belongs to my panda and I don't want anybody else. Even without her carrying our baby under her heartbeat, I would have introduced her. This may be one of the most important things to do in my life because their decision will change my future.

They have to choose between a future with me and Crystal included or nothing. There is no way I will let her go, again. Especially now that she's pregnant, I'll have to take care of my little family. The thought of my own little family makes my heart beat fast. Our daily life is still the same but with little extra challenges. My lovely woman is peacefully preparing dinner with my big sister and Namjoon's wife.

She's trying hard to not gag at the smell of roasted beef. This tiny poor panda is so willing to help them prepare, although she's not well with all the food aroma. Crystal is strong for me. I know she's worried about the differences between her and my culture but she embraces every little detail. My sister's gaze is shooting daggers in my direction. That's when I recall her outburst this morning after I had a call with our mother.

***FLASHBACK***

"What did mom say?" The stern tone of my big sister is the reason I wake up from delirium. She's talking in Korean only to protect Crystal from hearing things she shouldn't. Before I can answer, Namjoon is faster.

"They'll be here this evening." My brother slaps my back, encouraging me to talk but I don't. Still too perplexed by my mother's words.

"And?" Taeyeon gestures with her hands to talk further. "There is more, I know just by your looks."

"She doesn't want Crystal staying here." My voice cracks but I contain my composure. I don't want my woman to worry much more than she already does.

"What the heck?" Taeyeon's voice gets louder before she scoffs in disbelief. "Where should she stay then? On the streets? Does that old woman even know what she's talking about?"

"Calm down," Namjoon tries to stop our sister from being overdramatic but I don't think she's wrong. I, myself, was shocked when my mother told me to send my girlfriend away. This is painful.

"Calm down?" " Are you fucking kidding me, Joon? Tae brought his girlfriend from damn NYC to Seoul to introduce her to them. And she doesn't want her here? How is that respectful to her or Tae?" She's stating facts. Mother always taught us to be respectful to guests and Crystal is our guest. My woman's dark brown eyes search for my attention which I give her quickly with a forced little smile. She's probably worried because we're talking in Korean.

"Taehyungie could've asked first_"

"Asked for what, Joon?" "If he's ready to introduce the person dear to him and the person he loves, then there's no need to ask for permission. We all know what her answer would've been like!" A loud bang is caused by the knife that my sister dropped into the sink before stamping out the kitchen. "I will call her now!"

"Oh, come on, don't be like this, don't start a fight!" Namjoon rolls his eyes to the back of his head while walking behind Taeyeon. Our big sister was always very protective of me. Even though we fought a lot she was always on my side since we lived together with our grandparents. Our relationship is different. I'm close with Namjoon and Jisoo but Taeyeon and I are soul siblings.

***END OF FLASHBACK***

My sister's gaze doesn't lose focus on me when she strides tiny steps to reach me. She always had these Medusa eyes. Whenever she uses them, the person she has targeted turns into a stone, making it impossible to run away. "Tae, are you hiding something from me?" Her spoken words are slowly spelled just to make sure I understand her question.

"What are you talking about?" I ask back as I don't have a clue.

"Crystal!" Again, her eyes don't leave me and I get nervous for whatever reason. Taeyeon gets a confused reaction from me as I shrug my shoulders, still not getting her point. "Taehyungie, I notice when someone is pregnant. I am a mother of two kids!"

My eyes doubled in size as soon as she ended her sentence. I place my finger on my lips to show her to be quiet. And of course, she understands instantly and nods in victory since she found our sweet little secret. "How did you notice?" Taeyeon has to come closer to hear my silent voice. The woman snorts at my question.

"It's pretty obvious. Ok, I thought she was just sick because of the flight but I had this idea since you visited me a week ago. The first sign, she's pale although her natural skin has a caramel taint. Secondly, her expressions whenever she smells something strong. And the last thing I've noticed is, she looks tired because her body is working hard for the little one in her tummy." My sister smiles proudly and takes my hands in her palms. "I'm so happy for you."

A wave of emotions overcomes me when in the corner of her eyes a glistening drop appears. "Taeyeon, please don't say a word to anybody. We wanted to wait a little longer before announcing this."

"I get it and it's the best decision to wait. You have my back, both of you, don't forget that." It's incredible how much her support means to me since I'm scared of how my family would react to this bomb. "Take good care of your woman, she needs you more than ever!" We share a silent moment, overwhelmed by the sudden news exchange until a loud noise shrieks us awake. The main door opened and a wave of wind closed it harshly as my parents walked in.

My Father is the first one to step inside the kitchen. His eyes catch Crystal at the very first before looking at me and back again to my girlfriend. However, my lovely woman bows respectfully to greet him. She's so cute and I appreciate how thoughtful she decided to welcome him. I can't read my father, his expression is cold. He greets my girlfriend only with a tiny nod before sitting in his favorite spot at the table.

The sounds of another step approaching the room. Mom has a brightly smiling face as she walks to me with open arms. She takes me in her arms and I copy her. Her calming fragrance engulfs my senses and I feel at home. "Omo, you lost weight, my son." That's what she always says whenever she sees me. My mother examines my face lovingly as she caresses my cheeks.

"I want to introduce you to someone, Mom." Crystal's irises are already on me when I look at her. I expand my arm to reach for her hand before pulling her slowly next to me. "This is Crystal, my girlfriend." As she did to my father earlier, my love does the respectful bow to greet my mother as well. A proud smile appears on my face at the sight of my woman trying her best.

The warm feeling disappears the moment I look at my mother. Her smile is gone as she watches my girlfriend up and down. She's eying her from head to toe as if Crystal is something weird. I don't like her stare. My mother is usually not cold but this is the first time I see her behave like those egotistical rich women on TV. "Hello, Ma'am, I'm Crystal, it's a pleasure meeting you. Thanks for having me."

Nothing could've prepared me for this. Crystal, my girlfriend, just spoke a whole Korean sentence. I never heard her say a word in my mother tongue and just now I get to hear a whole full sentence. Even my mother is surprised by it. "I hope you enjoy your time." Mom answers but Crystal is looking at me right after. A little chuckle escapes my mouth at her cute confused face. I tell her what my mother said and my girlfriend bows again while saying Thank you in Korean.

Everyone gathers together to sit at the table and we start dining. My Father and Namjoon are talking about business, what else, they're workaholics. My love is very silent since her gaze doesn't leave her plate. I place my hand gently on the top of her thighs to get her attention. Her beautiful eyes meet mine and I mouth slowly, "Are you okay?" A sweet smile gives me the poking dimple on her left cheek as she nods her head. I love it when I get to see her sweet smile.

"Where is she going to sleep?" The sound of my mother's voice makes me look at her. Is that a question?

"In my room?" I answer with a questioning tone. My mother frowns at me. It's the look she had whenever she was going to scold me.

"Then you have to sleep in the guest room!"

"Mom_"

"You two are not married! It's inappropriate to sleep in the same room when you're not husband and wife." I have to gulp the lump in my throat and bite my tongue from bursting something out I'll definitely regret after. If she knew what we had done already she would set me on fire. Taeyeon and Namjoon are trying to hide their chuckles. They understand the context very well as they went through the same when they introduced their spouse to our parents.

They're very conservative and I don't have a chance but to accept their rules in this house.

~•~

"What do you mean, you have to sleep in another room?" Crystal pouts at the realization she has to sleep alone in my room after telling her what my mother said at the table while dining.

"Love, don't worry I will try to sneak to you when everyone's asleep. My mother has a rule that says, as long as we're not married we are not allowed to sleep in the same room." I kiss her soft lips and taste the lingering sweet flavor that remains on mine. Her doe eyes are looking up at me and I wish I could squeeze her but stop myself from hugging her too hard. She's still carrying a life in her womb.

"It's okay, rules are rules, and if your mom has them we ain't going to break them. It's just a few nights." Why is this woman so fucking reasonable?

"Rules are meant to be broken." I peck her lips with a smirk decorating my mouth. She slaps my arm but also chuckles at my statement. Crystal had been very tired the whole day and after she helped clean up the dishes she wanted to lay down since my parents didn't give her much attention. She's resting on her side, still with a smile on her face but her eyes are closed. My girlfriend's breathing gets calmer and I watch her drifting away. It would be nice if I could just stay here and sleep as well but something is waiting for me.

I place a last kiss on her forehead and cover her body with a soft blanket. Her small sleeping figure makes her look like she's invincible yet very vulnerable as quiet little whimpers escape her lungs. "They don't like me." It breaks my heart when I hear her sleep-talking. Crystal has been nothing more than great and very respectful to my family.

A conversation has to be done and I'm getting nervous with every step I get closer to the living room where my parents are waiting. As I open the huge door I already see them sitting on the couch and sipping on their cup of tea. "Taehyungie, our son."  Mother says when I take the seat in front of them.

"Mom, Dad, I want to talk to you about Crystal." Never was I the type to get nervous before speeches but this is new to me. I feel my heartbeat in my ears and my hands are sweaty when I clutch them together.
