Chapter 8- American Dream

It was three months later when we had an unexpected guest.

By we, I mostly mean me.

Ok, so you see I was in the garage totally missing school because my project was too important and I already did the work.

I was working on the car that I've been trying to make. One that would go super fast and had three gears each one going fast than the last.

Each on also had a color trail because it was going that fast.

Green was the slowest of the three gears and it didn't have much of a trail, yellow was the second gear and was fast than green and had more of a trail but still wasn't that good, however.

There was the red trail and that was like a solid trail and you're going super fast that it lasts for a few seconds.

I just don't have the right car for the job that can handle the power and speed. Anyway, I was wrapping up and cleaning my hands when there was a knock at the open wooden door.

Turning to expect Hector I faltered because standing at the door was the one and only Tony Stark.

"Can I help you?" I asked

"I'm looking for Percy Jackson." He said completely unhindered by a 9 year old that wasn't at school.

"You're talking to him." I said with a unimpressed raised eyebrow, "but I'm sure you knew that because I'm literally the only one here and not at school."

Tony didn't seem to reply but instead took a look around the place and casually said, "You know, I would've expected my nephew to live in a better place. Like an actual home and not some abandoned warehouse that has other runaways and use-to-be gang members."

Instead of asking how he knew about the others, let's face it he probably hacked shield, I just followed him, "And I would've expected my uncle to be an ass. But the day is still young." I said

Tony's mouth tilted upward in amusement before he faced away and toward the upstairs, "What exactly do you want?" I asked

"I want to get to know my sisters kid. The one who has been off the grid and the one I've been looking for since he was 5 years old." Tony said

I faltered completely in shock and confusion," You were looking for me?" I asked surprised.

Tony just seemed to roll his eyes, "Come on. You're my sisters kid. My nephew course I would be looking for you. Just telling you now, Gabe Ugliano is rotting away in prison for about 4 years now." Tony said

"That I knew." I said automatically still replaying what he said in my head.

It was a few moments of silence mostly because I was still in my head and I heard Tony sigh and face me, "Look, you're my nephew and I know I'm not one for family but the ones I do have I tend to keep close. So kid, here is an invitation to live at the soon-to-be Avengers Tower. But I'm not going to force you to just stay here. From what I learned and let me tell you, you do a good job at burying things, that this is your second home and I'm not forcing you to leave it. So what do you say kid? Live with me for a few days and see about it?"

I swallowed and looked around, but my curiosity was burning and I actually did want to learn more about my uncle so I nodded, "Let me write a note to a friend of mine to tell him where I will be and if he needs anything call me." I said

Tony just nodded and followed me upstairs and into the small office that lead to my workshop, which Tony went into, and the bedroom where I went and packed a small backpack of clothes.

"You know, this isn't that bad of a small lab. But mines better." Tony said as I entered the room, the backpack on my back.

I nodded, "Most of the items I had to build some items because I couldn't exactly get them. Even then I'm still missing things." I said taking the blueprint off the desk and putting it in my backpack.

It was the blueprint to the engine I've been tinkering and building with. The one with the different speeds. It was also earth friendly and didn't use gas but a miniature arc reactor that after continual research and videos was able to actually make a blue print too.

So after making sure everything was turned off and locked away. I went outside following Tony toward a car where a gentleman opened the door.

"Percy this is Happy. Happy this is Percy Jackson. Happy will drive you anywhere you really want to go." Tony said getting in the back.

Following him I set the backpack by my feet and shifted slightly, this was all weird and new to me.

All Happy did was smile and get in the front seat where we started toward the soon-to-be Avengers Tower as Tony just called it. It was probably not fixed or at least was a work in progress.

Happy was making small talk with Tony while I was just quiet and looked out the window. Sometimes I look at them when they talk about something that is slightly interesting but it was still weird.

So, it seems like it's going to be interesting living with Tony Stark and soon the Avengers.

A real American Dream. Yippie.
