Chapter 25- Drastic Measures

I'm just gonna say this now. I love the Screen Team from Youtube and their weird videos on the Avengers.

"Absolutely not!" Zeus's angry voice raced through the room as he was displeased with my plan about the Time Gem.

"Uncle." I tried but my voice froze when a very angry, lightning gaze glared at me. I could just feel the testosterone and ozone in the air as it built up around Drama Queen Z.

"Father. I think we should hear the Sea Spawn." Athena said calmly as she look intrigued yet there was reluctance in her voice.

"Thank you cousin." I said and bowed a little to show respect as I looked to a more calmer Zeus (How Athena does it I don't know but am forever happy with it).

Feeling Zeus piercing gaze I looked back up more serious than I probably have been in my entire life knowing that war was coming.

"Thanos wants everyone gone on earth, not just mortals. With the power that he has, even if it is just the power stone (Pretend he has the power stone aka just go with it). He still has an army of Chitauri at his command. The Soul Gem is a very powerful gem but, alone it is not at full capacity. The gems were made to all go together, creating the most powerful creation in the entire galaxy, even more power or just that of Chaos the creator of the galaxy." I said very serious and looked each and every god in the eye.

I could see most of the gods concern in their eyes as Zeus relaxed against his throne and looked like he was finally going to hear me out.

"How serious are we talking about." He finally asked after a few seconds of letting my little paranoid speech out.

"Think of Kronos times 50, that is Thanos with the Power Gem. Now think of Kronos with five also insane siblings just like him and times that by 200. That would just be the Time Gem and Soul Gem combined. Without the other the gem is significantly reduced in power, nothing can really beat Power Gem unless someone has two gems themselves." I said wanting to peruse the importance of this conversation.

"What if Thanos gets ahold of these two gems?" Athena asked leaning into her seat finally seeing how important this battle is (Goddess of Strategy right?).

"I'll talk with Hecate and we will both devise a spell so that if I was ever to not have the gems, that they will disappear to the place that they were given to me from. However; if I were to die, the gems would follow me to the afterlife and will eternally be bonded to me." I said looking Athena with seriousness as I have thought this plan out.

"What's the difference?" Apollo asked in one of his more serious moments.

"The difference would be that if he had ever lost them while he was alive they would not be bound to him and would be given to their rightful owners within seconds of not being with Percy. There is also the fact that if Percy were to die then he would become the owners of the gem forever in death." Athena said to her brother with a roll of the eyes.

Tilting my head toward Athena to show thanks I focused on Zeus, "Do we have a deal?" I asked looking at him and started to feel that swell of anxiety in my stomach to which I pushed to the back of my head and focused once more.

Zeus looked in thought and when he moved again he glanced at Athena, upon seeing her nod he looked to the other gods, "All in order to give the Time Gem that was confiscated from Kronos to Perseus Odin...Jackson." Zeus said remembering that I wasn't Odin's son.

I watched in amazement as all the gods raised their hand in one of the few moments of all seriousness.

When everyone's hand was done Zeus looked at me and then turned to father and gave a small nod. Together they both aimed their weapon at the center of the ring of god's (away from me thankfully) and both fired a powerful blast into the center.

After a few moments of thinking they totally ruined the flooring the bottom opened up and a platform rose to reveal a secure looking case and with it inside was the yellow gem that was known as the Time Gem.

Both firing their weapons again and unlocking some sort of security thing around the case, Athena took out the gem and walked toward me.

Standing in front of me she asked, "Do you Perseus Jackson swear in your life to protect the gem known as the Time Gem from the evil clutches that want to do harm to the world we live in?" she asked very serious.

"I do solemnly swear to protect the gem with my life." I said and as I said the last words my gut twisted and made me frown just a little. I felt as if I would soon regret those words.

"Very well. The gem is now in your possession. See Hecate right away and tell her that the Olympian Gods demanded she drop everything she was doing to help you." Athena said as she placed the gem in my hands.

"And don't die. I would hate to see a depressed Loki, especially when we have trivia night." she said with a soft smile. Trying not to think about my brother and her having a 'trivia night' (Is that what they really did? Losers...or was that just some cover story. Ew, ew, ew don't think about it. Think about kittens or Blackjack but anything but that).

"Thank you my lords." I said serious trying to push my thoughts to the side and focused on the main thing.

I watched as the gods vanished deciding to call the meeting for another night. I watched as everyone left except my father.

He slowly came to me and gave me a tight hug, "You're going to do something stupid aren't you?" he asked as his voice portrayed his sadness.

"I'm sorry." I said as my throat felt like it was constricting me.

Dad pulled away and stared into my eyes, a sad glint in his eyes as his face softened, "You have nothing to be sorry about kid. I'm the one who is sorry for not being their when you really needed my help with your mother." he said softly and I could feel the guilt he still carried.

Safely putting the gem in a pocket I tightened my hold on his shoulder and looked him dead in the eye, "There was nothing you could have done. I understand that, you need to let it go. Think about this, if mom....if mom hadn't died I wouldn't have two brother who I'm not related to at all that I love with my life, I wouldn't be able to spend weekends with you in Atlantis, and I would have never met my real half-brother Triton and the citizens of Atlantis who just adore me, and step-mother Amphitrite   and mother Frigga. While what happened to mom was awful, I love my family." I said softly trying to remind my father of all the good things in my life that has happened because of that night.

"That doesn't mean I don't have a feeling of guilt." Dad said softly as he pulled me into another 'manly' hug.

"I know." I said as we continued to hug as if it was the last one ever, "I know." I muttered to myself feeling the same guilt in me as I felt the night that I ran away from the house leaving my mother there (dead or alive) with Gabe even for a few minutes.

"Let me know that you're alive when it's over." Dad said and I could hear his voice crack with sadness as we finally pulled away from each other.

Fighting back tears I gave him a shaky smile, "Going soft old man." I teased.

"Old!" He shouted in fake agitation, "I'll show you who can still beat who when it comes to footwork." he said and then tried to my me trip over my own two feet. Jumping over them and laughing I gave dad once last goodbye and set off toward Hecate.
