Mayuzumi and El were childhood friends, they ended up attending the same middle school as well.

“We’ll never forget each other alright?” The small gray haired male stuck out his pinky to the brown haired male

“And we have to tell each other everything!” The brown haired male added. The silver haired kid nodded and hooked his pinky around the other pinky.

“That’s a promise!”

On the day that they graduated middle school, El went off to find his silver haired friend and tell him that he is moving to another nearby country. 

“But I don’t want Mayuzumi to get mad…” 

Mayuzumi was mad, El disappeared without a trace. 

“He broke his promise.” He clicked his tongue at that started his change. Mayuzumi’s expression turned blank, he diminished his presence and caused him to be the Rakuzan’s phantom during his 3rd year in high school.

-Present time-

Mayuzumi put his hands on his hips as he stared at the now clean room. He looked at the clock and realized he still had time to take a shower before his new roommate arrives. He had to be careful around him because his new roommate’s uncle is the landlord of the apartments.

Fifteen minutes later, Mayuzumi came out of the shower fully clothed. A towel was placed on his head as he heard someone knock on the door. 

“Shit” He places the towel around his shoulders and opened the door. His dull grey eyes widened as they met with familiar dark brown eyes. 

‘It can’t be…’

“Mayuzumi this is my nephew, El” The landlord said with a smile on his face. The male beside him bowed

“My name is Lucas Fleur” The male smiled at Mayuzumi who was now glaring at him. 

“I know.”

“Huh? Have we met before?” El asked. This made Mayuzumi fume, the landlord smiled before leaving a few reminders and leaving the boys to themselves.

-One week later-

A grey haired male laughed as the brown haired male flicked snow at his friend’s face. 

“That’s not fair!” The grey haired male crouched down and took a twig

“On guard El!” He turned around only to see that nobody was there

“...El?” The grey haired child spoke, looking around as he did so

“El we’re not playing hide and seek…” He searched for his friend and eventually found him about to cross the road

“El wait-” All of a sudden his friend vanished making him pause. Tears gathered in the corners of his eyes, people started appearing around him. Flocking him but never paid attention to his existence, as if there wasn’t a crying child that was left alone.

Mayuzumi’s eyes opened as he sat up whilst breathing heavily. He ran a hand through his silver locks before calming himself down only to get startled by a knock from the door to his room.

“Can I come in?” El asked from outside

“I’m fine! Go away!” Mayuzumi clicked his tongue. El still opened the door and stuck his head into Mayuzumi’s room. 

“What do you really want?” He glared at the brown haired male as he said so

“I just wanted to see if you’re alright” El replied all of a sudden Mayuzumi snapped

“You know what? I don’t even want to see your face or hear your voice again! Get the hell out of my room you bastard!” Mayuzumi shouted. El sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.

“This is going nowhere. I’m heading out to cool off. ” He muttered before walking off 

Mayuzumi sat on his bed with both hands running through his hair.

“Damn it…”

Days passed by and Mayuzumi still had the same dream over and over again. El and him didn’t talk anymore and El spends time at the room two doors away from Mayuzumi’s room.

Sunday came around and Mayuzumi woke up late, he went out of his room and squinted his eyes. The man that he has been avoiding for the past week wasn’t there. Instead, there was a note on the kitchen counter.

“I’ll be visiting uncle today and come home late. 
-El”

‘Thank God he isn’t here’ Mayuzumi thought before doing his daily routine. Since it was a Saturday, he went out to the public library to do his usual reading. He even planned to eat out in a nice small restaurant. 

Once he finished his business in the library, he went out to search for his ideal restaurant. He was passing by Maji Burger when someone called out to him.

“You’re Mayuzumi right?” The female asked him.Mayuzumi raised a brow and looked at her in a confused manner.

“Do I know you?” He asked as the female approached him, unaware of the other one following from behind

“We are El’s friends. We just moved here with him, we live next door to you” A smaller female figure spoke from behind the taller one which surprised Mayuzumi

“My name is Reina, this is Lux” The taller one said whilst gesturing to the smaller one as well

“Reina-san, you must be his guardian. It’s nice to meet you and Lux must be his-”

“I’m his friend” Lux continued. Mayuzumi raised his brow once more 

“I see…”

“Rei-nee… It’s time for lunch”

“Oh, why don’t you join us for lunch Mayuzumi?”Reina asked with a certain glint in her eyes

“I can’t say no, can I?” Mayuzumi sighed, Lux quietly ran into the restaurant and went to find a table for them. Meanwhile Reina and Mayuzumi went to order. 

Once they sat on their table, they chatted about books for a few minutes and soon enough their order arrived 

As they were eating, Mayuzumi kept shifting uncomfortably as he felt a pair of eyes staring at him. After they finished, Mayuzumi wiped his lips using the tissue before locking gazes with Reina 

“Is something wrong? You kept staring at me while we were eating. It’s uncomfortable.” Mayuzumi stated. Lux stopped sipping her vanilla milkshake and bowed

“I’m sorry for her acts Mayuzumi-san, she’s just observing you-” Lux was cut off by Reina

“You don’t need to apologize to him, Lux. It’s because he seems calm unlike what i heard from the other night.” Reina muttered while sipping from her glass of water

“What are you talking about?” Mayuzumi raised a brow

“Did you know that the apartments aren’t soundproof? Maybe a few yells can be heard by your neighbors” Reina smiled at him

“It’s not like you know what happened in the past” Mayuzumi scoffed and took a sip from his cup of coffee

“Past? What do you mean by that?” Lux placed her milkshake down on the table and looked at Mayuzumi 

“Please explain what you mean Mayuzumi.” Reina asked. Soon enough Mayuzumi explained that they were childhood friends, how El left without telling him anything. 12 years ago El contacted Mayuzumi since he didn’t know who the ‘Chihiro’ on his phone was only for Mayuzumi to angrily tell him off and dropped the call. 

Whilst Mayuzumi was explaining Luxrionne’s eyes were following a certain blue haired man who walked by the window she was staring out of. But snapped to Mayuzumi when he mentioned 12 years ago

“Wait… did you say 12 years ago?” Lux asked 

“What about 12 years ago?” Mayuzumi replied as he set his coffee cup down

Reina let out a sigh and looked at Lux. Lux looked back at Reina with a hint of worry in her usual blank eyes. Reina nodded as a sign for Lux to tell Mayuzumi.Both of them faced Mayuzumi

“12 years ago, El…”

Mayuzumi sat there with wide eyes. This wasn’t the truth that he had expected. His hatred for El was replaced with fear and guilt.
