Draylee's cryo pod hissed open and, with a groan, she fell forward to land in strong arms. She couldn't seem to open her eyes as she lay there.

"She's Altean, contact Emperor Zarkon!" Came a voice.

Zarkon. Where had she heard that name before? Draylee finally got the energy to open her eyes and as she does Someone says, "She's waking up, restrain her."

As her bleary eyed, she could make out a face. Purple skin, yellow eyes... Galra! Draylee's eyes shoot all the way open and she tries to get out, but the arms that were supposed to hold her up, restrain her. She struggles against the arms that hold her. Then she notices one of the Galra soldiers is calling someone on a wrist device. He walks up to her and holds the device in front of her, showing her the face of another Galra.

"Zarkon!" Draylee snarled, practically spitting the word out.

"Hey now, have more respect for your elders," said the Galra soldier that was holding her.

She promptly kicked him. He grunted but didn't move.

"Cuff her, then look for more Alteans," Zarkon said.

Draylee glared as one guard points a spear at her. The other guard searched all the cryo pods, until one cryo pod hissed open to reveal another Altean with light purple hair and dark purple marks under his eyes. He opened his eyes to reveal orange eyes with yellow pupils. The guard catches him as he fell and he looks around with bleary eyes. Soon he also realizes what's going on. He reacted, struggling against the arms that held him, but they hold him fast. He gets put by Draylee and she realized who it was.

"Pax!" Draylee cried.

He looked around.

"What happened?" He asked her.

"Galra happened," she responded.

"I have made my decision," Zarkon said, catching the attention of the 2 kids.

"Take boy, kill the girl."

Draylee watched in horror as one of the soldiers took out a device that sparked with energy. He walked towards her, device in hand.

"Wait!" Pax cried.

The soldiers turned to him.

"Take my sister instead," he continued.

"Why exactly should we do that?" Sneered one of the soldiers.

"Because, I may be older and stronger than my sister, but she she's better at fighting, and you did say you were looking for a new champion, right?" He reasoned.

The guards looked at each other.

"Very well," said Zarkon.

"Take the girl."

"No!" Draylee shouted as one of the guards pulled her towards their ship.

Pax gave her a smile and mouthed, "Stay safe."

That was the last she saw of her brother as she was pulled into the pod, his screams echoing in her ears.

"You monsters!" She cried, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"How dare you!"

Then something hit her over the head and everything went black.

A few Vargas later...

"And stay in there!" A soldier cried, pushing Draylee into her cell.

As the door closed behind her, she looked up at the staring prisoners. She walked over to an empty corner, sat down, buried her face in her knees, and cried. She had just finished the interrogation (which had gone better than expected.) Then she had tried to make a dash for the launch bay but she was caught and had been electrocuted as punishment then shoved into her cell. She felt a hand on her shoulder and she mumbled, "Not right now."

"What's your story young child?" A voice said.

She looked up to see a gray alien with a concerned expression.

"I don't wanna talk about," she said, burying her face in her knees once again.

There came a small gasp from the gray alien.

"You're Altean," he said

"Yeah, so what?" her muffled voice said.

"No one has seen an Altean in over 10,000 years."

Draylee's head shot up.

"10,000 years," she muttered.

"That must have been how long I've been asleep."

"What happened to all the Alteans?" Draylee asked, already knowing what the answer would be.

"They were wiped out by Zarkon 10,000 years ago," the gray alien responded.

"Of course, It's just like him!" She spat.

"Ruining everybody's life!"

Then she buried her head in her knees again, this time not crying, but silently grieving for her race.

One day later...

The cell door opening awoke Draylee from her light, uneasy sleep.

"You," said a sentry, pointing at Draylee.

"Gladiator fight, get up."

She sighed and got up. The guards harshly took her and they walked down the hall towards the stadium. As they arrived one sentry gave a sword to her and she was shoved into the stadium. The blood thirsty crowd cheered as she walked in. She looked at her opponent. He was looked like a mutant ogre had a baby with the Galra. He brandished a giant club.

"This is a special battle to the death! Now is everyone ready to witness the destruction of the last Altaen alive?" A voice over the PA boomed.

The crowd roared.

"Alright then, Weapons up, get ready... Fight!"

Draylee closed her eyes and opened them imagining the monster as Zarkon. The monster charged at her. But she didn't budge. Only at the last minute when the club was about to come down on her, did Draylee dart out of the way so the came down beside her. She leapt onto it and ran up the club, using her sword as an anchor. She finally got to the beast's shoulder and she stabbed the sword into his. He roared with pain and was just about to bring his hand down onto her, when she leapt off and onto the ground.

"Why are you hitting yourself?" She taunted.

He roared and chased after her. The attack and evade plan went on for a few more minutes until Draylee got the monster to trip over his own feet and fall. And then Draylee jumped up onto the monster and stabbed her sword into his neck, delivering the killing blow. He lay still. Dead. The crowd erupted into cheers as the voice boomed, "let her be known as Conquerer!" The sentries came and took Draylee back to her cell.

One year later...

Draylee sat in her corner, petting Juniberry when a sentry opened the door and gestured at her. She put Juniberry down and followed him out the door. She was confused when they entered the room. This wasn't the stadium. Then she saw Hagger, Zarkon's... She couldn't remember. She turned to Draylee as the door closed.

"Ah, yes very good," she said.

"Sit down," she said, gesturing at a table.

When she hesitated Hagger smiled and said, "Please."

Uneasy, Draylee did as the old woman said and sat down on the table.

"Good, now lets have some fun, shall we?" Hagger said, snapping her fingers.

Two sentries suddenly came out of nowhere pushed Draylee to the table, pinning her down. Then metal bands clamped around her wrists and ankles. Hagger stood over her, smiling. Draylee was about to say something when the old woman put a finger to her lips and said, " Don't worry, this won't hurt, at least for me." Then she said, "Lets get started."

A metal band clamped around Draylee's forehead, pinning it there and a sentry came up with a blade. Draylee screamed bloody murder as the sentry cut into her. This continued for a few minutes until another sentry came over and injected her with some kind of liquid. The sentries continued their work on her as she struggled against her restraints. Then Hagger came over and said, "Hush now young one you are doing us a favor for helping us with this experiment." She pushed some hair out of Draylee's eyes then pressed 2 two fingers to her forehead.

"Now sleep, and when you wake up this will all be over," Hagger said.

Then with that, against her will, Draylee's eyes closed and the world faded away.

As she came too, Draylee pushed herself up to a sitting position. Then she realized that something was missing. Her hand flew to her eye. She looked at her reflection in the metal wall. Her left eye had been replaced with a cyborg looking prosthetic eye that blinked to life. Voices came from outside of the door.

"Dad, I'm scared."

"Don't worry Matt, we'll get through this."

"Remember, we need to stick together."

Then the door opened and a sentry pushed 3 new prisoners into the cell. A boy, and 2 men. The boy had short light brown hair and one of the men had a thin build with bray hair. Their leader seemed to be a man with black hair and a strong build.

"Hey there," Draylee greeted the prisoners.

"Um, hey there, I'm Takashi Shirogane, but you can call me Shiro," the black haired man introduced himself.

"Over there is Sam Holt and his son, Matt."

Draylee had a feeling that these 3 were different from the other prisoners. She smiled for the first time in months and introduced herself.

"Hi, I'm Draylee."
