Chapter 10: Fall of The Castle of Lions
Chapter Topper done by @PulsarRay
A/N Sorry readers. It took me Way. To. Long. Life just went down hill and I'm overwhelmed. I also lost interest in Voltron and got obsessed with WoF so that. Sry. And of course, the infamous writers block. Thanks y'all, RazberryBlue-
"The monster fell from the sky! It was an epic battle, but Voltron was victorious!"
Draylee chuckled a bit as the wrong stack of Arusians fell over.
"No. I said, Voltron was victorious!"
The little aliens fell got back up and corrected themselves.
Draylee clapped as the play ended.
"Thank you, Your Majesty, for that... wonderful production. It saddens me that we must leave tomorrow, but we must continue our battle with Zarkon and spread peace throughout the universe," said Allura, smiling.
Draylee nodded in agreement.
"Your Highness... please accept this gift. This will allow you to contact us anytime you need help. Arus will be the first planet in the Voltron Alliance," Allura said, handing a communicator to the king.
The Arusian nodded in thank then, holding the communicator in the air, he shouted, "Hoorah!"
The other Arusians repeated a cheer going up in the room.
"We ought to get something like that," Draylee heard Lance say, holding a cup of nunvill.
"Like what?" She wondered walking over.
"You know, like, a cheer. Like, a team cheer that we do," Hunk explained.
"Wait huh, do you guys have something like that on earth?" She asked.
Lance nodded.
"Mm-hmm. Yeah, okay. How about, uh... I say 'Vol' and you say 'Tron.' Vol-" Lance cheered.
Draylee looked at the Blue Palidan like he had grown juniberry flowers out of his eyes.
"Uh... Vol-tron?" Tried Keith.
Lance shook his head.
"No! No, no, no, no, no. The cheer includes the instructions. I say 'Vol' and you say..."
"Vol-tron?" Draylee tried, utterly confused.
Lance sighed.
"We'll work on it."
She sighed and left the group to argue over a team cheer.
She grabbed some food and left the ball room, heading towards the training deck.

Draylee flipped and shot a laser from her cyborg eye, the hot beam melting a smoking hole through the chest of the gladiator. It crumpled to the ground vanishing. Suddenly, the lights shut off and Draylee looked around, turning the flashlight mode on her eye.
"Hello?" She called into the comms.
Only static met her voice.
Quizinak.
She sat on the deck looking around, thinking of a plan. Suddenly robotic footsteps came from the hall and she summoned her glaive inching towards the door.
"Guard the castle," She heard a voice say.
She grew pale. Oh no... Sendak.
Turning on the heat vision, she saw the shape of the Galran Commander accompanied by a few sentries holding two limp forms, one weaker then the other. No. No. No. This couldn't be happening not like this. They walked away and Draylee sat on the deck, brainstorming what she should do. Suddenly the comms crackled to life.
"Hello anyone, this is Princess Allura of Altea, does anyone copy, over?"
"Allura!" Draylee whispered, voice filled with relief.
"Draylee where are you?" Allura said.
"Locked in the training deck."
"I can come and get you," Pidge joined in.
Pidge was here too! Thank Alfor!
"Coolio, I'll just wait it out, fill me in later."
They dropped the connection and Draylee stood, pacing. Wow she was agitated. After about a varga, the smell of melting metal filled the room and a vent grate fell to the ground. A glowing green grappling head attached to a rope of energy dropped down and Draylee looked up to see Pidge, grinning down at her.
"Wow I missed you!" Draylee called, grabbing the rope of energy and allowing herself to be pulled up.
Pidge helped her in and crawled away, Draylee following her deeper into the vents.
"So long story short, Sendak has taken over the castle. Lance and Shiro were injured in the process," Pidge said.
Draylee gasped.
"Oh no," she breathed, pausing to turn the flashlight mode on her eye on, lighting the vents before them in a red glow.
"That's just part of it. Allura and Keith are trapped outside," she added.
"Quizinak. What about Hunk and Coran?"
"They went to get a new crystal at the nearest Balmera," she said.
She sighed in relief. At least her friend was safe. Well safer.
They pushed into an elevator shaft and Rover hovered over.
"Hey Rover," Pidge said.
They arrived into the central energy chamber and Draylee looked around, memories brought back from helping with the repairs for their own ship when they were part of a crew
"Okay, Allura, we're near the turbine. I think it's started."
"Then you'll have to hurry. Cross the catwalk to the main column in the center," Allura said over comms as the two crossed the catwalk.
"Okay."
"Now, open the hatch. Find the central computer control hub and enter the following sequence," Allura said
"Wait, wait, wait, wait! Which one is it? All the labels are in Altean!" Pidge cried, freaking out. Draylee gasped.
"Allow me!" She said, entering the sequence and stopping the engine.
"And just in case..."
She summoned her Bayard and let it form the glaive, slamming it into the engine turbine. They fled, heading for the elevator shaft.
"How did you do that?!" Pidge asked, starry eyed as she stared at Draylee.
Draylee snapped her fingers in front of Pidge's face, snapping her back to reality.
"Focus now, talk later," she said, climbing up the elevator, looking down to see if Pidge was following.
"There's not much time before they get the ship running again. You two must shut off the particle barrier so we can get in," Allura said over comms
"You got it. Tell us what to do," Pidge said
"The particle barrier generator is beneath the main hull," Allura instructed.
They obeyed, finding their way to the particle barrier generator.
"Okay. Talk me through it, Allura."
"Shutting down the barrier from this room can be dangerous. Remember, the barrier is also a weapon. So, stay away from the energy arcs," Allura instructed as they arrived
"Don't touch the giant lightning bolts. Got it,"
"Now, what I'm going to need you to do is-"
Suddenly sentries started firing at the two. Draylee grabbed the human's hand, pulling her away.
"Pidge, Draylee Hello? Are you there?" Allura called over comms.
"We've been spotted!" Draylee said.
She pushed Pidge away.
"Go!" She yelled summoning her glaive and shield.
"But-"
"Just go!"
Pidge ran and Draylee ran beheading the sentries with ease. More and more came though and Draylee began to get overwhelmed. Suddenly Pidge ran past distracting them.
"What are you doing!?" Draylee panted, short of breath.
Suddenly a laser hit Pidge, and she fizzled out of existence. Another laser followed, hitting the energy arc causing lightning bolts to fire everywhere, destroying the sentries. Wow smart thinking. A hologram.
"Whoa! Can't believe that worked!" Pidge gasped, yelping as Draylee grabbed her hand and using her crystal to make an energy shield around them. They fled, two sentries pursuing them.
"The invisible maze. Let's see them get through this," Pidge said.
Draylee nodded and they ran in. One sentry was destroyed by the maze and they escaped through another shaft. A laser hits the energy shield, causing it to break. They fell and Draylee dragged the sentry into the shaft, letting it fall and watching it explode, the shockwave causing them to slip. Draylee dug her glaive into the wall as Rover stopped Pidge's fall.
"Rover! Nice save, buddy!" Pidge said grinning.
They soon arrived at the engine and Pidge started to hack the computer.
"Powering up," she heard someone say.
She soon recognized the voice as Haxus.
"And up, and up, and up. I would not want to be touching a metal surface when this thing overloads," Pidge said, overloading the engine.
Alarms blared, and Draylee was ready to leap.
"Sir, something is wrong," Haxus said before screaming in pain as the computer exploded, causing electricity to surge everywhere.
They leapt into the air. Draylee using her jetpack and Pidge hanging onto Rover, they hovered before landing in front of Haxus
"You're the ones causing all this trouble? Children?" Haxus said.
"We're not children, we're Palidans of Voltron," Pidge said.
Haxus laughed. Draylee summoned her Bayard.
"Let me tell you something, children," I'm a soldier of the Galra Empire. Nothing stops me but triumph or dea- argh!"
Haxus fell, blood welling from his cheek. Draylee was in a crouching position, helmet gone.
"Conquer, your alive!" He spat, in shock and anger.
"Well, by the time we're done with you, you'll be history, just like the rest of my kind," she growled, standing.
Haxus attacked the two. Draylee leapt over them, whirling to strike him in the back. But he knocked the glaive out of her hand, hitting her aside. Pidge attempted to hit him with the grappling hook, but he grabbed the rope of energy, flinging her against Draylee, who was just trying to get up.
"Nowhere left to run. Nowhere left to hide," he said smirking.
In a last half hearted attempt, Draylee tried to punch him, but he stopped her fist, squeezing it painfully. She groaned in pain.
"No Conquer, you're history," he announced raising his sword above the two.
Rover suddenly slammed into Haxus, knocking him towards the engine. Arms pin wheeling, he grabbed Rover to avoid falling, only for the drone to deactivate itself, causing them both to fall
"Rover no!" Pidge cried, reaching over the side helplessly.
Draylee got up and walked over to Pidge, putting a hand on her shoulder. Pidge then pulled her into a hug, blinking back tears. Draylee stiffened, definitely not a hugger.
"Haxus, report in," Sendak called through comms.
Pidge walked over.
"Haxus is gone, and you're next!" She said determinedly.
"You've slowed me down, but this ship is mine! You will turn yourselves over to me immediately!" Sendak commanded.
"Never!"
"Well, then, maybe your leader can convince you," Sendak said.
"What do you want?" Shiro groaned.
"Your friend wanted to hear from you," Sendak said
"Shiro?"
"Pidge? Pidge, don't listen to- ARGH!!!"
Draylee listened in horror and narrowed her eye in rage, storming over to the computer and slicing it nearly clean through with her glaive.
"I have a bone to pick with these Quizinaking Galra!" She growled, storming away.
Someone grabbed her hand and she whirled only to see Pidge clinging to her.
"No! We need a plan," she begged, brown eyes meeting orange.
Draylee paused, sitting down.
"Fine then what's your idea?" She said, sounding defeated.
°•{~}•°
Sentries marched into the bridge, throwing Draylee to the ground in front of Sendak. Her helmet fell off, rolling to Sendak. She glared up at him, cyborg eye glimmering with a laser.
"Well, Well, Well, if it isn't Conquer, still alive," he said, grabbing her chin.
She growled, yanking her chin away, and spitting at his feet.
"Still as disrespectful and rebellious as ever," he said.
"What do you want?"
"Power," he said simply.
She scoffed.
"For your emperor, or for yourself?" She she asked.
He growled, going for her as she rolled away, standing.
"Still as stubborn as ever," she taunted.
He grabbed her lifting her up to be at eye level.
"I see you've spent some time with the druids," he said, flicking her cyborg eye.
"Well to bad you didn't get the latest model," she shot back, shooting a laser square at his forehead.
He yowled in pain, throwing her. She landed gracefully, lunging at him despite her bound hands. He grabbed her, squeezing her painfully.
"What are you!" He said, glaring.
Draylee smirked.
"The distraction," she said simply. "Pidge now!"
The hologram of the Green Palidan ran in distracting him. He threw her to the ground. Hard. Winded, she struggled to get up, only for sentries to push her down one hit her head and she flopped to the ground blacking out.
°•{~}•°
Commotion stirred her and she opened her eyes. She was on her knees, someone working at the cuffs. Princess Allura smiled at her as Draylee looked behind her, the cuffs falling to the ground.
"Thanks," she said getting up and lunging into the fray.
She punched Sendak away with the help of Keith, knocking him against the crystal. A shield formed around it, trapping Sendak. Draylee sighed, dropping to her knees, exhausted. Juniberry ran towards Draylee.
"I punched Sendak!" She cried gleefully.
Draylee laughed, lifting the tiny mouse.
"I'm sure you did."
Then she sat down, petting Juniberry.
°•{~}•°
"After a day in here, he should be fully healed."
All the Palidans except for Draylee were gathered around Lance in the cryo pod.
"Pidge, we can't thank you and Draylee enough for all you did. I can't help but feel that you were meant to be a part of our team... but I understand if you want to leave," Shiro said.
"Dad used to tell me how close he was with his crew members. They were like family. Now, I understand what he was talking about," Pidge said.
"I'm staying with you guys. Let's stop Zarkon for all of our families," Pidge said.
"Good to have you back on the team," Keith said.
Draylee blinked, dropping her plate of food goo as she entered the room.
"Wait you were going to leave?"
