chapter forty-six, episode one

you're playing so cool
obeying every rule
dig way down in your heart
you're burning, yearning for some.

BONNIE moore has seen many things at her age that wouldn't be so normal for other people but for some reason this was throwing her off.

"this isn't you home." Reginald said after they all told him that they were the umbrella academy and that they were back home. it threw them off seeing reginald alive but it threw them even more off when reginald didn't even recognize his own academy.

"what are you talking about? this is the umbrella academy."

"plus bon bon and sebs." Klaus said pointing over to Bonnie and Sebastian.

"wrong again."

"we can't catch a break huh." Sebastian groaned looking away from Bonnie and up at the staircase. Sebastian's eyes widen as they landed on a girl around his age. she had short purple hair and looked younger than the rest of them. the purple hair girl locked eyes with Sebastian and smiled softly at him but the blonde hair girl besides her gave her a warning look.

"This — is the sparrow academy." Reginald's announced making the umbrella academy quickly turn around in defense. Bonnie automatically took out both of her knives and held them to her side and then a guy walked from the hallway in a mysterious and creepy way.

"dad, who the hell are these assholes?" the guy snapped and Bonnie gasped recognizing him from a photo that Klaus showed her.

"shit." the umbrella academy plus sebastian and bonnie breathed out.

"Ben." Klaus chuckled happily a soft smile appearing on his lips.

luther was the first one stepping forward and squinted his eyes at Ben who gave them a weird face. "is that really you?"

"and who are the weirdos on the balcony?!"

"Diego shut the fuck up." Sebastian snapped at Diego who raised his voice out of no where glaring at the sparrows from the balcony.

"they are the sparrows. my children."

"did he not say he hated children like a few days ago?" Bonnie whispered asked to five who nodded his head frowning his eyes. the sparrows stayed together glaring down and the umbrella — meanwhile the purple hair girl was admiring sebastian who waved his hand at her with a drowsy smile.

"I'm sorry." five scoffed turning around along with the others facing reginald, "what do you mean, your children? that's not possible, old man."

"of course it is! i think I'd know, wouldn't I?"

"everybody else can see Ben, right?" Klaus asked still staring directly at Ben. Bonnie tilted her head to the side and also looked back at Ben but his whole face changed. it looks more mature, especially with his mustache, he's holding a cold stone glare and in the photos Klaus showed her he always held a happy face not a resting bitch face.

"cute hat, Sundance." Ben said to Klaus who grinned and tipped his hat at Ben.

the umbrella watched as the sparrows headed down the stairs to stand behind ben. something about that made Bonnie point out that ben was their "leader" and most likely had the same mindset as luther used to have.

"they call themselves the umbrella academy, a group of scheming perfidious malcontents who accosted me in the fall of 1963 when I was away in business in Dallas. although I don't remember seeing that boy. be warned, they claim to be my spawn."

"this is ridiculous." Bonnie breathed out shaking her head and dropping it down to fives chest.

"claim?" Allison asked abruptly turning around, "look, five, what the hell is going on?"

"I dont know yet, but it's concerning." five shrugged his shoulders and brought his hand downs to Bonnie's hand intertwining them together.

"is he telling the truth?" one of the sparrows asked.

"not the part of us being perfidious." vanya said nodding her head and putting her lips in a tight line.

"No, we're amateur-fidiuous, at best." Klaus said.

"in shorter words a disfuncional family who all care deeply about each other and do stupid things together." Bonnie then said smiling widely at them and her eyes landed on the purple hair girl who looked away from Sebastian and over to her. unlike the others she could see that the girls face was more uptight and less cold than the sparrows. she seemed more happy to see people her age.

"but we are his children. this is our house." said vanya.

"yeah, yeah. we, uh — we grew up here." luther added still not understanding what's going on.

"yeah, we grew up here." another one of the sparrows mocked luther. bonnie snickered but stopped when luther gave her a look.

"im sorry, luther." bonnie apologized genuinely before glancing over at the sparrow that mocked him, "watch it, only I can bully luther. your welcome."

she glanced back at luther giving him a thumbs up causing luther to sigh deeply not knowing if he should be happy that bonnie stood up for him or if he should be mad and offended that she said that.

"I kind of think we would have noticed you." the sparrow to the left said. bonnie raised an eyebrow at luther who's body language changed. he stood up more straight and his shoulders dropped.

"hi, im luther. she is not my kid." luther quickly added pointing over to Bonnie who rolled her eyes and looked to the sparrow who he was admiring and then she saw why luther was so love struck.

"okay. none of you belong here." allison cut whatever they were having and stepped forward.

"oh! well, then. i guess we'll just pack our bags and move out." the sparrow from the back said making a box from besides her speak.

"are y'all seeing this shit?" Sebastian whispered to five and bonnie who nodded their head slowly.

the sparrows chuckled at what the glowing box said — which no umbrella understood — and then one in front said, "you slay me, chris."

"the box has a name?" Sebastian asked too loud for his liking.

"he has feelings too." the purple hair girl snapped at Sebastian who brought his hands up in surrender.

"im sorry. i didnt mean to offend you." Sebastian quickly said and Bonnie gave him a weird stare reaching forward and dropping his hands down.

"I wasnt expecting company." the whole umbrella academy twisted their head over to the known voice that stood by the entrance holding a plate of freshly baked cookies. "this is the best I could do on short—short notice."

bonnie smiled softly at Grace and then down at the cookies remembering when she asked for some at Reginald's funeral but never even got the cookies.

"mom." Diego breathed out walking forward and putting away his knife.

"mom? she's a robot, you perv." the women sparrow scoffed in disgust.

"shut the fuck up you don't know shit." bonnie immediately snarled at the women who called her dad a perv.

"it's not a robot."

"hey, don't you call him that."

"or what?" ben scoffed.

"come closer and find out." luther pushed but he didn't actually expect the two sparrows in the front to actually step forward.

"luther! guys, chill!" vanya sighed reached forward and putting her hand on Luther's shoulder but he shook his head glaring directly at them.

"you know we're afraid?"

"stand down, ben."

"look at that! she's got a voice!"

"how about I hide the big Rubik's cube up your ass?"

bonnie took her head out off fives chest and once she did that the sparrow that she snapped at hissed something out of her mouth over to Diego that landed in his cheek.

"what the actual fuck was that?" Sebastian frowned his eyebrows and Diego looked like he just got drugged and wasn't in his own mind.

"you got 30 seconds to get out of our house." the sparrow said.

bonnie frowned her eyebrows walking towards Diego and putting a hand on his arm making his head quickly glance down at her. Bonnie's eyes widen as she noticed tears whelming up in his eyes and his face held nothing but shock.

"and if not?"

diego lifted his head and glanced over at the sparrow that shot him that. now holding a huge grudge to her. Diego lifted his arm and quickly wiped away the liquid on his cheek and forced a smile down at bonnie.

"im okay, kid." he whispered down to bonnie who wasn't believing him but let it slide for now.

"look, we just fought a literal army. okay? this doesn't need to get ugly. let's all just calm down, and let's talk." vanya said trying to get them all to stop arguing and trying not to rip each other's throat while they figure what's going on.

"psst. ben-er-ino." Klaus hissed over at ben who turned his head over to Klaus and gave him the most weirded out look. "you look so much better alive than you do dead. am I right? expect that haircut."

"Klaus—" bonnie shook her head at Klaus who chuckled at her.

"what the hell did you just say?"

"bon bon, look! tell me I'm wrong." Klaus chuckled pointing over at ben who was more freaked out than wanting anything out to come out of Klaus mouth. "anyways, stop with all the hostility, mr. grumpy pants."

Klaus got closer to Ben and he tilted his head to the side, "oh wow. nice scar. muy macho."

"shut your mouth!" Ben snapped at Klaus who rolled his eyes.

"you shut your mouth and just hug your brother—" Klaus wasn't able to finish his sentence has Ben swung his arm out to Klaus punching him in the face.

"what the fuck is your problem?!" Bonnie gasped watching as Klaus dramatically threw himself over to the table and landed on the couch. Bonnie went over to Ben but luther held his arm in front of her.

"you didn't have to do that!"

"oh, im pretty sure I did!" Ben mocked.

"he did." the sparrow with the burnt face like said pointing to Ben.

"get back!"

everyone stared arguing at once, their voices overlapping each other until marcus, the one in the front, pushes Luther which caused him to swing his arm but Marcus was quicker to lift his leg up and kick him pushing him away and sending him flying over to Klaus who just stood up again.

bonnie watched as Reginald left his kids. bonnie backed away over to five who quickly pulled her away only to be stopped by Ben. Sebastian ran off to the side with the purple hair girl following quickly after him.

bonnie took out her knife in an instant and swung it to Ben who ducked it and then turned around head locking five. bonnie accidentally kicked five in the stomach meaning to aim to Ben, "sorry babe." bonnie said sheepishly with a soft grin as five teleported away.

"you're missing all the fun." the purple hair girl said catching up to sebastian who managed not to get hit by anyone.

"oh well, this isn't really my scene." Sebastian said chuckling awkwardly and backing up as the purple hair girl got closer to him. Sebastian gave her a confused and weird look as his back collided with the wall.

"you're cute." the purple hair girl giggled tilting her head to the side and before Sebastian could replay back a black hole appeared from behind her and she walked inside of it, the purple light around the black hole disappearing as fast as it came.

"I dont know if him being alive is a good thing or a bad thing." Five said shrugging off the pain when Bonnie hit him.

"is that some kind of weird smack talk?" Ben hissed not sensing Bonnie from behind him.

"it's more of an existential problem, really, Ben." Five said boredly frowning his eyebrows at Ben who chuckled.

"awesome. well, here's your next problem." Ben said going to use his powers on five who quickly teleported over to Bonnie grabbing her and then spital jumping up the balcony.

"you know," five called out making Ben turn around, "even though you're a total asshat now—"

bonnie quickly ran to the side of the railing as Ben launched his tentacles to them but five spital jumped back down to him swinging his arm hitting him in the face. "—it's nice to see you again, really."

"you coming?" Sebastian felt his heart leave his body as the purple hair girl appeared besides him with a wicket smirk. "don't worry, I'm not that scary."

"i dont even know who you are." Sebastian breathed out looking at the purple hair girl that disappeared again with the black hole from behind her.

the purple hair girl was gone for a split second before she reappeared back from above her, hanging upside down, her hair dropping down and the wicker smile still on her face. "raven, you pretty boy?"

"Sebastian." this time when she disappeared pulling Sebastian with her.

bonnie crouched down as she was fighting with the long black hair girl. she stood back up straight and swung knife scratching her cheek. the women hissed in pain before she spit her venom at her.

"that'll keep you busy while I deal with your boyfriend." she spat walking over to five who just saved Allison and told her that he can handle it.

"the fuck." bonnie frowned her eyebrows as her surroundings changed. she wasn't at the academy anymore but instead outside in a lake park, standing on the edge of the park right in front of the lake.

she turned around frowning her eyebrows and her eyes widen as she noticed five standing in front of her. a smile planted in his lips, a bouquet of flowers on his hand and he looked normal like. bonnie felt weird as well, she didn't feel like she had her powers, she didn't feel like she just went through an apocalypse twice or any of the events she experienced.

Bonnie's eyes filled with tears the second that she realized what her powers were. illusions. her deepest wishes that will never come true. this one being of having a normal life with five, going on dates like this. the feeling of her being without powers is because it's what she wishes she never got.

"bonnie." he whispered to her getting closer to Bonnie who closed her eyes shaking her head.

"no, you're not real." bonnie trembled out chocking a sob as five placed his hands on her shoulders.

"bonnie!" he said more louder than last time and bonnie felt herself for back to usual self. the red hair girl opened up her eyes and whatever she felt before it left in an instant as her eyes landed on the boy she loves the most.

bonnie sighed in relief letting the tears roll down her cheek as she launched herself to five. even if they can't be normal, even if they can't meet when none of them have powers and are simply normal teenagers who fall in love — she's happy that she can at least have this five. the five that she actually fell for.

"come on, we have to leave."
