14. In Love With You
"Tadashi?"
Yamaguchi looked up from doing his exercises. "Hm?"
"That doesn't hurt now?"
"A little." Yamaguchi turned a bit. "Up, please." Tsukishima helped him up and onto the couch. Yamaguchi smiled, huddling up to Tsukishima. "Kiss?"
"I'm too tired."
"Tsuki."
"Mm?"
"Kiss, please?"
Tsukishima sighed, completely being playful. "I guess so."
Yamaguchi giggled as Tsukishima pressed his lips into his own. "Mm. Hehe…"
Tsukishima pinched his shoulder and Yamaguchi yelped. He laughed. He was tickled a bit and kept squirming, his legs jolting when you loved in their poor attempt to move.
Tsukishima stopped and let him breathe before laughing quietly. "What am I going to do with you?"
"I'm a… Dino… Din… Dinosaur." Yamaguchi giggled. "Hehe."
"Oh really?"
"Mhmm!"
"Tell me about that." Tsukishima leaned into him, stroking his hair.
Yamaguchi attempted to talk for several minutes, waving his hands and smiling. He ended up falling asleep, snoring softly and relaxing. Tsukishima tapped his collar bones and waited for him to wake up again.
He felt comfortable here. He could lay here for hours and hours, just snuggling.
"Mph…"
Tsukishima looked up. "Hm?"
Yamaguchi turned over as fast as his body would allow and grabbed a trash can. He spat up, whining. "Eh…"
"Throwing up?"
"M-mhmm."
Tsukishima helped him go to the bathroom where he threw up and washed off his face. "Is it the medicine?"
Yamaguchi nodded, coughing. "Tummy hurts."
Tsukishima rubbed his stomach, warming him up a bit. "Do you want anything?"
"Is okay." Yamaguchi coughed. "Ow."
"Ow?" Tsukishima sat him up. Yamaguchi whined at him. "We need to change your medicine out again if it's this bad."
"Mhmm." Yamaguchi pat Tsukishima's cheek. "Cute."
"Delusional."
Yamaguchi closed his eyes. "I wan real."
"You want something?"
"See… Real… Seer… Real… Uh." He pouted. "Elp."
"Cereal?"
"Mhmm!"
"What type of cereal do you want Angel?"
"Chock…" He huffed. "Mm!"
"Chocolate? Like the rice Krispy-looking chocolate one?"
"Mhmm!" Yamaguchi was taken into the kitchen and didn't complain at all when Tsukishima didn't notice his squirming. He was in a bit of pain and it was uncomfortable but things were okay at the moment.
Tsukishima went to work after a while, not wanting to leave very much.
Yamaguchi wiggled around their apartment, content with the world. He slept on the floor of his bedroom, his upper half laying on a pile of hoodies on the floor of his closet. It was a decent nap, even if he was used to sleeping a lot now.
Another side effect of his medication.
He hated the side effects but he needed to take the concoction of medication to ward off infections, help painkillers he hated, help with his headaches, and help blood flow.
He got closer to a window and listened to the rain when woke up. He ate and went through his wedding plans for the hundredth time. Tsukishima had picked out a few things. Yamaguchi had too and they were still trying to pick out things that were bigger than just the flowers and tablecloths.
The cake had been picked out though and everyone thought it was funny that it was a strawberry cake. It was supposed to have little pink roses and gold-looking fondant leaves. A lot of things they wanted were pink or soft gold colors.
It was fairly girly but Tsukishima looked like he had stars in his eyes when he'd go hide and look at their binder of plans. He loved the colors and the looks of everything.
Yamaguchi would watch him and smile. When Tsukishima was home it was sweet and still quiet. His harsh facade lowered and he wore baggy sweaters and fuzzy socks. He was the softest person to be around when he was comfortable enough.

Yamaguchi sighed, grabbing the counter. "Need foods. Ughhh."
He glanced at the door as he pushed himself up, trying to get into his wheelchair. Tsukishima opened the door, sighing. "Yama, I need a hug. And probably a bandaid. I got a paper cut."
Yamaguchi laughed. "Tsuki."
Tsukishima looked over. "Oh my- oh my God. Does that not hurt? How is that happening?"
Yamaguchi glanced down and realized he was standing. "OH!" Pain shot up his spine and he went to his chair, gasping.
Tsukishima hurried to him. "Are you okay? You've never done that before. Are you okay Tadashi?"
"Yeah!" Yamaguchi laughed and then winced. The pain was going to go away in ten minutes so he would be fine.
"It doesn't hurt?"
"Kinda."
"I… Right. That was supposed to be a surprise I'm sorry."
Yamaguchi smiled and kissed his cheek. "It's okay."
Tsukishima hummed. "What were you doing?"
Yamaguchi pointed to the cabinets. "Food."
"Ah. I actually got you something to eat if that's okay." Tsukishima took out a brown bag from his work bag. "I swear if they're not still hot I will actually sue God."
"Pfft."
"Bag of fries." Tsukishima gave him the bag. "I have real food too but we don't go out often so I wanted to give you something."
Yamaguchi pulled him down and kissed him firmly. "T-thank you!"
"No problem." Tsukishima yawned softly and messed with his bag.
Yamaguchi watched him, curious. "Hm?"
"Today wasn't a very good day…"
Yamaguchi hugged him, rubbing his back. "How?"
"I tried to play with the kids at the library today. The police got called on me…" Tsukishima sniffed. "Is that my cologne?"
"Yes."
"Idiot."
Yamaguchi rubbed his back. "You okay?"
"I'm not sure. I don't feel very well because of what happened." Tsukishima sighed. "I need to go lay down…"
Yamaguchi watched as Tsukishima went to their room, worried. This wasn't a first for Tsukishima. This happened more often than not and it was taking a toll on him. He just wanted a kid and to take care of a child. Tsukishima wanted to be a father and he couldn't show others because he was so cold towards them.
He had been trying to break that habit since his third year in high school and was one of his biggest insecurities. Yamaguchi knew that. He couldn't fix everything but he knew he could help just like always.
"Tsuki?" Yamaguchi rolled his wheelchair up to his bed. "Up?"
Tsukishima took a deep breath and helped him up.
"Force?"
"Am I forcing it?"
"Mhmm."
Tsukishima's eyes watered. "I'm not forcing it this time. This is real crying this time."
Yamaguchi nodded, getting it. Tsukishima had to force himself to cry when he needed some emotional relief. He got it. If it worked, it worked.
"I'm a good person, right?"
Yamaguchi nodded, rubbing his cheek.
"Why can't I act like a good person? I love so many things but I'm so mean Angel… I'm so damned mean for no reason."
Yamaguchi held him as he cried and ranted into his chest. If he had the words, he would use them. He would tell him it wasn't his fault. That he was so kind and loving that it was beautiful.
He couldn't yet. They had no idea how long it would take for him to be able to talk normally but when he could do it he would love on Tsukishima.
"Yama?"
"Hm?"
"I love you. You know that, right?"
Yamaguchi hummed. "Love you." He yawned softly. "Seepy."
Tsukishima wrapped around him after tossing his pants on the floor. Yamaguchi played with his hair, getting him to fall asleep quickly.
Yamaguchi stayed awake for a while longer. He hadn't taken his medication to go to sleep at night and he didn't feel tired. Usually, when he said he was tired he wouldn't be tired and it was an excuse to get Tsukishima to get to bed early.
Tsukishima shifted in his sleep, whining softly. "Yama…"
Yamaguchi kissed his hair. "Shhhh."
Tsukishima stretched and turned around. "Too many socks… Shhhh."
Yamaguchi huddled close and kissed the back of his neck. "Hm?"
Tsukishima hummed back.
"Tsuki?"
Tsukishima stayed still, fast asleep.
Yamaguchi just laughed and huddled close. Maybe someday others would see what he saw.

"Tsuki! Hey man!"
Tsukishima was startled, trying to close his laptop. "Fuck off Kuroo!"
"Uh. I was coming to bring you lunch? The hell is up with you." Kuroo sat down by him. "Why are you hiding your screen?"
"None of your business."
"Okay..."
Tsukishima took the bag from Kuroo and opened it. "Strawberry cake?"
"There's real food in there too you know..."
"Mhmm." Tsukishima started on the cake, ignoring the amazing-smelling meat in the other container. "Where did you get this?"
"Akaashi made some because he was bored last night."
"It tastes like a Costco cake holy shit."
Kuroo eyed him. "You're special."
"You thought grey was dark white while drunk."
"Shhhh. That's a secret. Jerk. But seriously, what were you looking at though?"
"Adoption sites. Why?"
"Kei."
Tsukishima stopped eating, trying to prepare himself for an insult.
"Do you think Yamaguchi would be able to do anything? He can't do a lot and has a strain physically so I don't really think he's fit to take care of a child."
Tsukishima lowered his arms. "Are you kidding?"
"Not really..."
Tsukishima packed up his lunch and closed his laptop. "I'm the one who's ridiculed for being cold. I'm the one who has had cops called on me because women hate me around children despite me just sitting there. I'm the one who has been told I'm going to be a shit father."
Tsukishima stood, glaring.
"Don't insult Tadashi just because he's disabled. Don't insult him because he has stressors on him. You are an idiot if you think that I'm going to let you insult him just because you don't see what I see."
Kuroo stood. "I don't mean that he's going to be terrible but he can't handle himself right now. You need to wait for him."
"He can handle himself. You don't know what's going on."
Kuroo stared at him. "I wish you would just stop being an asshole. I wish you saw what I did."
Tsukishima walked back inside, ignoring Kuroo. He called Kenma, who was half asleep and confused.
"Kenma, why is your friend being an asshole towards Tadashi?"
"I dunno... What'd you do?"
"I was looking at adoption sites and he said Tadashi wouldn't be a good father. He said he wished I saw what he saw."
Kenma was quiet for a moment. "Are you sitting down?"
"Yeah."
"Tsukishima, Kuroo is still in love with you."
