Prologue

"She wasn't waiting around for those who never truly loved her."

Nilsa Queen's life had never been fair.

Her parents always favored her older sister, Reyna Queen, over her. The perfect sister, the bratty, beautiful sister.

Nilsa had run away from her home when she was six; her parents never realized that she had ever left.

Nilsa wasn't perfect. She was the girl who'd rather be earning her black belt in karate, she was the girl who kicked ass in every sport, she was the girl who used dresses as a way to seduce men then break their hearts, she was the girl who denied her biological family after they finally realized what she had become(a much better woman than her sister for sure).

Nilsa was the phoenix who rose from the ashes her parents left behind.

The Queen woman, having taken the last name of her parents, owned everything she did because she had worked for it.

Keeping the name of her parents as a way to show them who she was, who she had become without their help.

Nilsa's best friend came into her life, twelve years later. Carlos Temple somehow managed to sneak his way into her life after he came to her business after an injury from archery. Nilsa's fondness of the slightly older man would often be hidden from view, but it would always strike out whenever someone dared to even try to do anything to him.

Nilsa's line of work often led her to be working with rather sexist males, often those who came from wrestling or boxing. Mostly rather "manly" sports. This often led to Nilsa having to physically knock it into them with large amounts of curse and swear words.

Like right now...

"Stupid sexist male!"

Carlos winced from the waiting area outside of the room, very familiar with the sound of his best friend's voice coming from the room.

It was quiet for a moment before everyone winced as a crunching sound could be heard from the room.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!"

"Don't ever call me that again," Nilsa's voice hissed out dangerously.

"I won't, I won't, I won't!"

Carlos's eyes darted up when the door opened and the rugby player pretty much bolted from the room where a redhead stood glaring after him. The rugby player's face was covered in blood from his broken nose.

"Crazy bitch," the rugby played muttered.

"What did I say about calling me that?" Nilsa snapped at him, everyone flinched and moved back as a high heel suddenly appeared in her hand, prepared to be thrown.

The guy paled immediately before bolting for the door. The red high heel was thrown after him, and lodged into the wall right next to the guy's face(right before he had managed to escape the building).

Nilsa's face was downright terrifying as she glared at the man, "Say that one more time. I dare you."

The man gulped then scrambled out of the building.

And everything went back to normal.

The people waiting outside the "doctor's" office went back to their conversations, the receptionist went back to answering calls, and Carlos stood up to greet his friend.

"Again, Nilsa?" Carlos asked her with a sigh.

The red-haired woman smiled to her employee who handed her bright red high heel, "Of course," she scoffed, turning to her best friend, "He's a sexist mother fucking pig."

Carlos shook his head at her, "Nil," he sighed.

Nilsa smirked at the archer before cupping her hands around her mouth, "Next!"

Here's the prologue.
